Only their TV games for me, but having watched him at the u21 Euros, then for Burnley in Prem, there is a clear progression in his game I've seen. There may still be occasional mistake in his game, but for a 22yr old keeper with the games he has under his belt, you will be hard pressed to get better across Europe IMO. A position locked down for a long time goes a long way. Would even say £30m isn't that big in the goalkeeper stakes when you consider Chelsea have spent god knows what on many GKs, Man Utd £50m on Onana, Arsenal near £30m on Ramsdale, Mamardashvili for £30m. All who over recent seasons have shown countless mistakes in their game.

Depends on the other signings for me.

Some juicy Champions League level misc sponsors this summer may help towards the budget without a major sale hopefully.
  8. I heard this stuff when we were replacing Dubravka with Pope, too. Goalkeeper is the second most important position on the pitch after centre forward - the ability of the keeper has a direct correlation with results, far more than a right winger or a centre back. So yes, upgrading a goalkeeper is worth it pretty much every time. Whether or not Trafford is that upgrade I leave to our manager - but if he is, I’m happy to trust his judgement.

Agree, at the expense of other key positions this summer though? (Assuming we can’t afford everything).

He has said yes, his agent is the same as Delap's, he uses Stellar. Trafford came up during those discussions with Chelsea, I think if he was going there he would have been going at the same time so he could go to the CWC.

If we want to improve our possession game, we need a new keeper like.

Not always. The agent would’ve said yes and then engineer a deal with another club/s and tell his client look what’s on offer… It’s why clubs particularly us don’t like diving in as it gets used as a benchmark for other clubs to then match/improve.
  13. Jesus H, quite a depressing take. I wonder why the club would be chasing him if he’s not very good and costs too much.
  14. He really is Mr LinkedIn. He seems like a nice enough fella in lots of ways. But his schtick is unbearable.

I mean Sunderland picked up 4 points against Burnley last season so there is that as well.
  16. You have to listen to Jake Humphreys, that's the issue.

Aye those too. 4 positions imo that must be a priority over a new GK.
  18. Doesn’t need cut down. Theirs not fat on the bone. Worth listening to the full 80mins.

Or a RW, ST, CB. We are desperate for all 4 positions.

I watched Trafford save 2 x pelanties in quick succession when it was Burnley vs The Makems and at that moment I knew it was our destiny to sign the kid and his saves were a "come and get me" plea
  21. This comment went under the radar last week but it is proof that no one outside their own fanbase considers them to be a big team. This is independent proof of that. Man Utd categorise the Premier League as follows - Category A (£59-97) : Man City Liverpool Arsenal Spurs Chelsea Newcastle Category B (£57-£86): Villa Palace Brentford Fulham Bournemouth Brighton Leeds Burnley Everton Forest West Ham Category C (£37-£60): Zunderland Wolves Not only not a big team, but a level below second tier teams! Both the other promoted teams are in the category above. Imagine the fewm when they see they are considered a less attractive draw that Bournemouth, Brentford and even Burnley! I reckon that if Wolves had been relegated instead of Leicester, SAFC would have been category C all by themselves. They'll be fewmin!

Our very own Pickford but with added bonus of longer arms
  23. Even my team, Dunfermline, spent 650‐750 on a player once. Istvan Kozma, in the 90's. We eventually sold him to Liverpool but he didn't get near their first team. He was a legend for us though. His highlight was 3 (unfortunately unfilmed) brilliant goals against St Mirren. That crazy spending was the beginning of our descent into administration.

Feel like he’ll be a massive shit house that oppo fans will hate but absolutely class as well. Bring him home
  25. Feels that way. Although he’s been our number one target this summer by all accounts.
