I wouldn't give Wilson a packet of Skittles. Time to move on but thanks for your service.

James Trafford: NUFC in talks with Burnley over £30m transfer (SkySports)

All up for this. However, whats with all the keepers. Seriously. Trafford, Pope, Dubs, Greek + Gillespie and Ruddy. Madness. Guess at least 2 have to go from that list, most like dubs and the greek. I would keep pope, good to have 2 top keepers and keep the other 2 for training and so on. Think we could get 5-10M for Pope however? -

Did I not hear Leeds were interested in Pope? Sure I saw that on SSN last night. -
It's Dan's lankyness that gives the illusion of being taller than he actually is.

Good news if true. My main concern with this transfer was would the price get dragged up and the process dragged out impacting other deals, £30 million seems like a good deal for us. Like others I can see/hope Pope stays for another season as he's a very good keeper and this gives Trafford more time to settle in.

I giggled too. A very witty response 👏 👌 👍

Are Chelsea in for him like? -
Or send Dubs or the Greek the other way and keep Pope for one more season.
-
Not sure Pivas will as I think he may still be ineligible for a UK permit. So imagine it will be back out on loan somewhere again.

Christensen is elite but far to injury prone.

I think it is a quandary working out who to sign at what price, but I don't think it is on those binary terms. I think the point is that, for where we immediately want and need to get to, at some point we are going to have to pay asking prices and those prices are likely to be high because the players we want and need are good. Any other team thinks that we have loads of money and knows that we have an urgent need to retool ahead of the coming season. I am sure there will be circumstances to exploit (e.g. other teams in PSR bother) or players that are, by some metric, undervalued. I am also sure that we are going to need to handover significant coin if we want to make significant improvements to the squad. I don't think that is the same as saying just spend whatever, now; but I do think it means that to do this season proper justice we should have some serious squad improvements in by pre-season or during its infancy (such that another summer long squabble about prices, like Guehi last year, does not hamper things). I am incredibly keen that we hit the ground running and prepared next season. With timely improvements we can give a good account of ourselves on all fronts. Heavy spending in the next 2 months is required to make that realistic in my opinion, so at some point we're going to have to do some of it.

Could see Pope going back the other way, would make sense for both parties imo
-
If Pope could kick, he'd be up there with the best in the league I reckon. How has he not improved? So irritating. Comes across as such a lovely chap as well. Maybe it just get's in his head too much.
-
Pope’s out of contract next summer. Debatable how much we’d get selling now, so we might think it’s worth the hit of letting him go for free next year, after a year of making sure Trafford has had to fight to be number one.
-
No it's not. You sign which ever scenario has the most quality. Pointless signing 4 knackers on the cheap because of fan pressure. If we can get 4 players at good value, great. If not, get the wallet out and make sure what we do get is top quality. It's always quality over quantity, unless we can do both.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-14793871/Duncan-Ferguson-reveals-current-England-international-battered-training-ground-boxing-match.html Apparently he stopped sparring, maybe we need to get him back in the ring.
-
Could see Man United or Spurs coming in for Pope if we got Trafford. In fact, any side in the league who's got a duff keeper will be looking at Pope. I think the plan is to have both for a year before moving Pope on next summer.

I'm sure the club can pay these inflated prices, BUT that will mean we get less players in. So 4 players at around 30 - 40 million, or 2 players at 60 - 70 million 🤔 It is indeed a quandary.

I love Australia and I love Perth, but to have a competitive Italian league game played in Western Australia would be an utter farce and shouldn't be allowed to happen If I was an AC Milan fan, or a fan of whoever they're playing against, I'd sue FIFA, UEFA, Serie A and anyone else who approves this type of hairbrained idea in club football
-
If he's the genius that took Anderson and foisted Vlad on us for £20m - I say sign him up! He owes us big time.
-
yeh its crazy. I wont complain though, be the best standard of competitive football I'll ever see in my home town.

Not as annoying as using "k" rather than "000" though, amirite ?
