Not to mention the Sky 6 already have underhanded relationships with the agents of these players due to giving them big pay days for decades.
-
The problem with howes a small pool of players quote is they will need big wages to get them which we don't pay. And if we can manage the wages we scoff at the prices. 😂 Factor in howe doesn't like loan deals and the use of the free market very often and our options go from a small pool to a little puddle.

“Howe would prefer for Newcastle to have new arrivals in the building by the time the team return for pre-season training in early July, with a goalkeeper, centre-back and right-winger on his wish-list. The failure to do any significant business last summer was well publicised, amid tension between Howe and new sporting director Paul Mitchell. And the head coach says the challenge now is to make deals happen. ‘It's great that the window opens on June 1,’ he said. ‘The challenge is for us to sign players in early June. But it doesn't always work like that. I hope in reality it does, but it rarely works like that. ‘It gets harder and harder to sign good players. So I'd rather sign the right player than settle for someone and get them in early, but let's wait and see. It is very difficult to predict.’” from 2nd May.

Joking aside, couldn't give a fuck about Marc Guehi. Not a fan of the club simping so hard over specific targets.
-
'It's only June' soon becomes 'it's only Early July', then 'we still have two weeks left. Be patient'. And then its us all watching on deadline day with an hr to go. Obviously that won't be this window though. Will it? WILL IT?!
-
Your right it has. I think this window is fundamentally different in that we do have PSR headroom so we will be investing. As per my original post. It will always be difficult for us to get our first choice targets as the competition for those can and do pay bigger fees and wages. This will continue to be the challenge until we can achieve revenue parity (Which I actually don't see happening any time soon but that's another topic )
-
This has been said the past few windows and they turned out terrible. You need to be moving fast these days to not get left behind.
-
It feels that way but we don't know if that is actually true at this point. We can revisit this assessment at the end of the window. After all, it's still only June. If a month or radio silence passes I will be right next to you but for now I don't see any reasons to panic.

Well we stopped going after the Brunos, Isaks, Botmans and Tonalis in the past few windows so I'd say we are to blame for that as well. If all we want are established PL players the Sky 6 will continue to wipe their arse with our shortlist.
-
Whilst true it's also much more difficult for us to secure our first choice targets. The simple fact is, we aren't any players first choice so we are somewhat reliant on our sky 6 rivals not being interested.
-
Other teams moving quickly to get their targets whilst we're moving like a turtle.

On 22 May 2024, Ghisolfi signed with Serie A side Roma as their new sporting director On 10 July 2024, Le Fée signed for Serie A club Roma on a 5-year contract worth €23 million Maybe it was agreed beforehand and there's an interview with him saying their transfer strategy wasn't fit for purpose...
-
More chance Chelsea sign him, just because they can, too.

Beginning to think we're not the vanity project we hoped we would be. Yes we'll spend the pennies allowed in the regs but not seeing massive investment in the infrastructure yet, they've had plenty of time. But you're right, if we're just an investment piece then it doesn't make sense we're not trying to maximise the value of the business for almost no outlay.
-
Still can't believe we aren't getting money in from stadium naming rights training ground and training kit. All the other clubs in the league have that money coming in but not us. Puts us at a serious disadvantage.
-
What is the logical reason us/other teams aren't pulling the same shit Chelsea are regarding PSR?
-
Wonder why other English CBs Eddie wants?
-
Who knows if he was a top target this summer, but let's be honest, as soon as Liverpool are in for him it's curtains.
-
Can't say I'm too sad about it but if that's another of our top targets gone, what are we actually doing?
-
True re the cup wins, but Liverpool’s lowest post-war average crowd was 29k when in a long stretch in the second division (and that was under Shankly). Their averages in the five seasons before he joined - all in the second division - were all above 35k.
