Yeah, it doesn't say anything about qualifying rounds either on wikipedia. Just 2nd and 3rd, and then Europa League next season. We did get into the CL with a second place finish in 96/97. Keegan finished top 3 twice without getting us into the CL, so the comparison is a bit unfair when we finished 5th this season.

Aye, I didn’t twig until I reread it
-
Is he not asking how finishing 2nd under Keegan in 96 only got us UEFA Cup and finishing 2nd the next season under Dalglish got us CL?

I recall we finished 2nd 2 years in a row. Once under Keegan, once under Dalglish... -
We lost in the qualifiers to Partizan Belgrade. Won 0-1 over there, lost 0-1 here and then lost on pens. Sickna. Edit: Sorry thought you meant under Robson. Maybe the 90’s was to do with only first place qualifying? Unsure.
-
Just noticed that he's the first Newcastle manager to reach the CL twice with us. Outside of the one time we reached CL in the 90s, we somehow had a 2nd and a 3rd place finish with both resulting in the Europa League? How did that happen? I was born in the 90s, so I don't have a clue.

The U21 homegrown rule is only simple for the PL. You can have as many U21 players as you want regardless of where they're from or when you signed them. In Europe however for the the B list the player also has to have played for the club for at least two consecutive years or three years with one loan away: https://documents.uefa.com/r/Regulations-of-the-UEFA-Champions-League-2025/26/Article-31-Player-lists-Online So I'm not 100% sure on Hall. I think regardless of whether his loan from Chelsea counts towards those two years he won't have been here for a full two years when it comes to naming him in the squad. Osula definitely won't, as he'll have only been here 12 months.

The chat of Ange leaving is coming from football insider fwiw.

German regional division playoff on dfb play. Havelse Vs Locomotive Leipzig. Locomotive down to to 10 now. Last 10 minutes. If anyone is after some football.
-
Could be a PSR deal to do mind.
-
Would have taken Onana if we didn't need an RW, CB & GK first. Think he'd genuinely push Joelinton for his place.
-
Hasn’t been at the club long enough regardless. See @ponsaelius explanation as to why Hall would also need registering.

From your lips to God’s ears.

It’s really hard to have been an English fan throughout the 80s and not get exasperated about this. Every country and every team has its cunts following them, but the double standards are infuriating sometimes. Not least when you see the appalling way English fans (and others) are treated by the authorities on a regular basis including…the CL final Paris in 2022.
-
Oh right. No idea then
-
Doesn't matter, he's been in UK since 2018 so will count as English grown for European purposes. Just I can't remember if his age is still within u21 cut off?
-
Require registering: Pope, New GK, Ruddy, Tino, Trippier, Schar, New CB, Botman, Burn, New FB, Bruno, Joelinton, Willock, New CM, Tonali, Gordon, Barnes, Isak, Murphy, New ST, New RW 8 English slots all covered. Not registered but will be part of squad: Hall, Osula, Miley Not registered as you want them gone / extreme back up for league and domestic cups: Vlac, Targett, Ashby, Krafth, Lascelles, Longstaff, Targett, Wilson If that is the situation, it shows where we can sign players. Don't get FB for example, Targett moves into registering. But if we're honest, it's those players we need to move on and get new players in. Edit: That new FB/CM/ST could be English u21 that doesn't require registering and we can register Krafth who's the emergency 5th CB. Longstaff can also be registered as HG and have no impact on rest of slots if needed.
-
I hope they don’t get Iraola, man.
-
Wouldn't Osula count as English U21 and not require registering?
-
Dan Burn on th F1 pre race build up... How this guys life has changed since the Cup Final. Or more so since he moved back to CB Love him
-
I highly doubt he'd move to another team and play for free At his age he needs to be playing as much as he can for as long as he can. If he's content to just train each day and collect the £40k a week then that's up to him, his decision, his priorities tbh
-
Ben Jacobs doesn't half talk some shite mind
-
Doubt even Al-Hilal could afford Targett's wages fwiw.

What if you were getting 40,000 pounds per week to do it? I think I’d imagine it like
