    Marc Guehi

He's doing what Trent did, running his contract down to get himself a big payday. Perfectly legal but can't say that I like it
  3. Can a player reject the chance to go back to their old club even if they meet the buy back clause?
  4. AyeDubbleYoo

    Marc Guehi

You can’t stop him if he’s intent, but if he has market value and wants to leave you can try to find him a move that gets you some money in. For example, they could have taken loads of money from us
  5. KaKa

    Marc Guehi

Yeah, at this point he can just refuse any move unless the salary is comparable to what he anticipates getting next summer as a free agent.
  6. LFEE

    Marc Guehi

How can you stop a player running his contract down?
  7. Yeah, they're a bit shady. Having said that, would have been great if we included one for both Minteh and Anderson, but we had no leverage at the time.
  8. AyeDubbleYoo

    Marc Guehi

If still be surprised if he’s allowed to run his contract down. Major fail by Palace if that happens.

    Marc Guehi

Thanks for saving me writing this out. Whatever BS posturing there may be beforehand, I would expect Palace to accept a decent bid made at the end of the window by a club in the CL Guehi would be happy to join.
  10. In Kaka's defence - he does try to stick to talking football. I've had a small difference of opinion about Quansah and it's actually small one. I don't think Liverpool think he's good enough, Kaka thinks they don't think he's good enough right now. We agree on not being good enough right now, good fee for all probably, good for the player. It's not a big enough difference of opinion to fall out over. Kaka can come across as a "know it all" desperate to be right - but he's just sharing his opinions about football - even if the logic is suspect.
  11. I'm with Ikon on this. Look at our run at the end of November into middle of December. We play 22nd, 25th, 29th, 3rd, 6th, 9th then the mackems on the 13th. Some tricky games in there too. As it stands, we'd have to play Tonali, Bruno, Joelinton constantly, or change our shape to accommodate someone other than a CM coming into the side. What will do us in that run is not the quality of our best XI (even if it still has Schar and Murphy in it) but the drop-off between our best 12-13 players and the rest. Even adding players behind Tonali/Bruno but superior to Longstaff & Willock would massively improve our chances next season.
  12. Buy back clauses should be banned.
  13. Turns out Liverpool included a buy back clause. Not surprised by that.
  14. Chelsea allegedly after Kolo Muani.
  15. The away tie was a no-contest. The home game they set a trap for Gordon when dribbling inside and would hit us on the break, but could have gone either way. Joelinton sitter and Wilson hitting the bar in particular.
  16. I know Beadle's a lurch but that's outrageous
  17. Aye, it says he's 5ft 7 on wiki but surely he's closer to 5ft 2? It throws you off seeing him stand next to other players in the lineups.
  18. I can’t recall hearing that, but if it’s true then it would probably only be Nike who would have been able to offer more. As much as we have history with Adidas, Nike have done very well with making both PSG and Spurs global brands.

    Alexander Isak

Definitely. Pay him top money for another 2 years and sell him then. He'll be 27 and possibly at his peak. A win for everyone.
  20. You're making too much sense here. Not sure if you're angling for a reach around, but I'm prepared to give you one. Just this once, though
  21. It’s probably worth remembering that if you are a member this season, you’ll likely be consulted on the new club badge, and potentially the new stadium. I can’t see them consulting with fans outside of that, as it would be difficult to prove that they are fans of the club.

    Alexander Isak

Yeah, that and a bit more cash will do it. We can't say he's worth north of £100m and then pay him like he's only worth £60m.
  23. This isn't the travesty it used to be. Even for Palace.

I think we need to show him, and our other top players, that we're going to be ambitious. A couple of top quality signings, particularly a striker to lessen the load on him, might be enough to persuade him that his future is at Newcastle. At least for another couple of seasons. I'd take that right now in a heartbeat.
  25. We got thugged out against Dortmund. Slim but definitive margins. On the whole we were pretty poor in the CL. Lucky to get a draw against Milan imo. Didn't have enough about us in the home game. Phenomenal at home to PSG. Shit decision in Paris but on balance of play a draw was a fortunate result. Not good enough in either tie against Dortmund. On the balance of play we deserved 3-5 points and no more. Tough as hell draw though.
