I agree on this - offering £25m for Trafford when Burnley has always said around £40m and £25m here are borderline waste of time bids.

Targeting only English or current Premier League players leads to inflated prices we can’t compete with. We should be looking abroad, where quality talent is available for far better value. Should have learnt that lesson with the Guehi nonsense last year

Something like 8 European teams qualify for it, with them on about expanding it even further. The 4 Champions League winners, plus the best coefficient teams. Currently there is a limit of 2 teams from each nation, but if they do expand it, then that may get scrapped. So in the next 3 years we just have to get our European Coefficient up, and it doesn’t matter if it’s via the Champions League or not. It will take 3 excellent runs in Europe, but it’s doable, especially if we manage to strengthen our squad.

He's been excellent during this tournament, not a surprise really though, he's been underrated this whole season. I'm really looking forward to seeing him get a full season at RB with a new RW ahead of him and potentially a new CB beside him. What did surprise me was his really poor goal and assists record. Specifically assists though, I know goals is not what his games about (good job it's not). But he does need to start improving his assist number this coming season. 93 senior club appearances and 2 assists is something to work on.

To be honest our bid of £45m + 5m addons (if true), is weak. Feel we need to stop fannying around with weak bids for top targets. Even if it means ending up signing slightly less personnel than intended in one window.

The Carroll camp were definitely pushing stories to the local press at the time that this was against his will, that Ashley forced him out for the fee etc.

We will have to manage his fitness next season mind, should have been on holiday like basically every other established first team u21 player. Hope Trips stays and can still perform

Didn’t watch the final but he inverted to great effect in the semi I thought. In the 5 at the back he was inverting to good effect for us too. He retains that dribbling ability in midfield which breaks lines and progresses play.

As this isn't happening where do we go from here? Window has been a unmitigated disaster thus far.

I do think there’s something ‘good riddance’ about players that want to join Chelsea if it’s likely they’ll sit on the bench. But I realise it’s probably cope.

We don’t have an option but to be parient, but we should also recognise that a third of the transfer window is gone and pre-season is about to start. We spent all summer chasing a lost cause last year and this year we need a number of players in, so IMO we should set ourselves a deadline. A month seems enough of time to get a player in.

Over the past season hes been better on the left domestically and internationally. Just to say, means nothing going forward.

He’s not worth what we’re “asking” because it would take a ridiculously prohibitive amount for us to contemplate selling him. So we’ll just keep him thanks.
