[LCF] Newcastle United 2-1 Liverpool - NUFC LEAGUE CUP WINNERS
George Bailey replied to 54's topic in Football
Wonderful stuff, just wonderful. Tears in my eyes reading this (honestly) I’m so chuffed for you all who got to experience this moment. Having seen (attending three of the finals in person) us lose all the other finals I was not confident at all. I was too nervous and apprehensive to watch it, so I did a likely lads until the final minute when I was told to safely put it on the tv. (superstition made me think I would jinx us again if I watched) daft I know. Out the country on the 29th but I will be there with everyone in spirit and I know now I will see this again! This is a new beginning for us all! 😀😁 -
My god they are desperate for us to sell him 🤣 £83m ….err for his right leg maybe… https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cz0lk0pxrr8o

The Europeometer™ (2024/25) - NUFC Qualify for Conference League (at least)
George Bailey replied to Rich's topic in Football
Oh absolutely but I was looking at what I thought was most probably going to happen… You are right in that risking gong for top 4/5 is contextually the right thing to do…. Im not much of a gambler and in all honesty still wonder if we can hold onto those 1/2 even with CL…prospects improve with and with EL but pessimistic me says they may still look to be off to ‘win’ things, so I’d be comfortable with 6th, hoping for 5th/4th… IF we can win LC then maybe the whole club’s fortunes change: just like they may/would have IF we had won the league under Keegan… Till then we are a big club that doesn’t win things and that puts us at a disadvantage..obviously. -

Agreed that is aim ( top four was looking a possible optimistic aim at one point) but looking at fixtures and the 'probable’ results - 6th is better than 7/8th. So yeah I would take 6th and some European football which may be enough to help keep some of key players…Personally think 1/2 will most likely be off in summer unless CL is delivered in any case. -

Would bite your hand off for 6th in all likelihood. -

No CL and at least 2/3 of the big three are off (Issak, Bruno or Tonali) They may be ‘bought in’ but realistically they will want the opportunity to win things or at least play regularly in the ‘big competitions’. Yep they will have been part of the squad that ‘failed’ to deliver but there’s little doubt they will be off imo. Hopefully we do enough for European competition so we keep them but we are so inconsistent it’s not beyond possibility we fail to get any let’s be honest. Really poor performance and result today. Really gutted 😞 -
Challenge accepted

If true a very good, generous deal for everyone. Lad has played a significant part in our transformation and will always be held in warm regards. Hope it all goes through and wish him nothing but the best for the future.

Jesus that could have been 2

Not this season now if I was being honest. I think we will finish top 10 but we are lacking something and too inconsistent to trouble top 6 for me this season. Unless a truly trans formative January window and major shift in midfield and tactics at some point. Sadly I think that will spell the end for our current and lead to a sale of a few players and a reset.

Chelsea vs Newcastle United: 27/10/24 @ 14:00 Sky Sports
George Bailey replied to Paully's topic in Football
Would be my take on it too. Hope the team can prove me wrong and begin to show what we are a a team and unit, but away from home, bad record, against a relatively in form side...not holding my breath for a miracle. -
My god the British (English) media are fucking rancid. ITV news banging on about a section of England fans being unhappy with the appointment as “you’re not English” and “will he sing the national anthem” Fucking rancid, utterly rancid. Who the fuck cares if he sings that turgid, dire reverential shite! Hes a good manager paid to do a job Pandering to the lowest denominator and knuckle dragging Neanderthals as usual Stirring up shite and they are loving it. Bet they have cameras a plenty pointed at him on his first game with morons like carragher and Neville bemoaning his non English status. Fucking sickening

The worst Newcastle player you've seen in a match

Names on here to make you shiver and have sleepless nights… -
Generous would be 3/10 for potential of Kelly and Osula and not losing one of our current key players. Reality says 2/10. Made to look naive and amateurish by approach across the full transfer window, odd GK situation, 'reports' of disunity/disharmony in the ranks, potential Gordon having 'head turned', deadwood still here, other sides around us having strengthened to one degree or another.. Not great, not great at all. Howe will earn his money and enhance his already good reputation if he guides us to top 6 now imo. Howay the lads.

Nah Parish would want £205m if that was the case
