Hugo Ekitike (not playing for Liverpool for a while)
midds replied to Miggys First Goal's topic in Football
Assuming the £86m is actually true (huge assumption obviously) Then either: We've unofficially agreed a sale next summer for Isak (and Ekitike is the replacement bought a year in advance) We've got a load of cash coming in for another player this window to balance it out (maybe Gordon or whatever) We've got a cash injection coming in via training ground/training gear/ground sponsorship/ anything else sponsorship Otherwise it just doesn't make sense as I don't think we can afford to sign him. None of the above seem particularly likely so I think it's just decoy shite for thick, willing and gullible journos to peddle and there's none matching that description more than Edwards -
Palace top is like a cartoon version of a proper shirt. Looks like it's been designed by an 11 year old to win a competition
-
Looks like he's already popular within the squad already which is very encouraging. Seems like a diamond of a bloke, articulate and ambitious. He'll settle in well over the summer and be ready to go next month, no bedding in needed, straight into the XI please Edward Love the fact he'll add a bit of balance to the attack now. Last couple of seasons the main pace threat has come from the left via Gordon and defences knew it and wee waiting for it. Now we can get behind and stretch teams on either wing and they can't shuffle across to double up on Gordon if they know the quick ball to Elanga is also now going to kill them too. Can see Gordon getting a bit more space which he'll enjoy, it's an exciting signing and the RW upgrade we've needed for a few years tbh

Longstaff out for 15 and Gallagher in for 35 would be epic business tbh

Kit screams Brian Laws circa 1992

WiLLLLLLLLLLLLLL etc

"Anthony, if 3 bananas and 2 apples cost £3.80 and 5 bananas and 6 apples cost £6.30, do you think you could you beat shit off a stick in a race?"
-
Can only assume that more unknown clubs are sniffing around him if we're turning down 12 for him. With only a year left then holding out for an extra 2m or whatever seems barmy when he's essentially worth nothing in September, I'd 100% have taken the Leeds cash in all honesty if they were the only ones interested

If it comes in long sleeves then I'll get 2

Sleek, no sponsor, old badge & interesting kit manufacturer. Classic kit. May purchase

I think we need to be quit flexible with who we go for as the players we currently have are good enough to play in a few different positions. If we bought another class DM then I think we could get away with playing Bruno as an AM/10 just behind Isak. It may not be a role he's played often but he's good enough to pull it off. Another example could be signing a target-man CF and dropping Isak himself back 15 yards into that position to link things up - again I know it's not something he does often but he's good enough to do that job. It's about versatility and adaptability within the squad. The dream is to name an XI that could change formation completely within a game without making a single sub and still be effective
-
Bit rascal but I don't dislike them
-
He's not a bad player for the type of games Leeds are going to have to play this year actually. They'll have to sit in deep and stay nice and rigid and disciplined, work hard and destroy attacks for sustained periods. This is now the only thing Longstaff is capable of doing imo
-
Take it. Whatever the number is just fucking take it and use it
-
Adjusted the price but not the 'Notts'. Just because
-
Taken a while but the first piece of the jigsaw is now in, fair play it looks like we've dug our heels in and not just spaffed £10m too much because it's easier and quicker. His pace and delivery could tear teams apart, we've now got genuine pace on both wings and a striker who'll benefit from the extra space. Murphy was never going to trouble LBs for pace but this lad 100% will, it's the RW upgrade sorted and a bit of a game-changer for how teams need to cope with us now
-
I totally agree and I also get the injury record and dodgy hamstrings things too. I just think playing as a lone CF under Sean Dyche at Everton was a bit of a thankless task as they were absolutely fucking rotten for years. I'd defy Isak to score goals regularly in that pigshit Everton team. He's shown in the past he can play the role, hold it up, bring others into play and maintain the shape and just keep things ticking over. I'm not expecting miracles but he's capable of playing the role for 35 minutes while Isak rests. We aren't t the stage where we can go out and plug every single gap with a £50m player like City can, we have to make compromises somewhere unfortunately. Frees and loans are needed this summer for the depth and I'd like us to buy the quality with what's left, it's a big ask
-
The only reason it makes sense is purely because he's free mind. If he had 3 years left and the fee was about £25m then no cunt, absolutely no cunt would even be mentioning him. His appeal right now is totally that he's free and could be used to rest the main man. I know there would be signing fees and wages but they're part of every transfer. It's not a brilliant glamour signing but it has merit imo

Would never expect anyone to be doing cartwheels at the thought of signing DCL but the complete opposition to the signing from some I find a bit much. We've got 2 problems right now - lots of gaps in the squad and not a huge amount of money to fix them. One of those holes is cover for Isak - he's the crown jewel and needs to be looked after and that means we need cover. I'm not going to say I'd be delighted with getting DCL in but the signing makes sense*. No transfer fee which means more to spend on other areas. He's miles away from the marquee signings we all love but the move does have logic to it. Between him and Osula it means we can keep Isak fresh and hopefully firing. He's never ever going to be anyone's first choice XI but he could be a handy option off the bench, no more, no less *Fitness permitting obviously but that applies to every single signing

No-one likes a grass though
-
No axe to grind with him at all, he's been a really good CF and scored some excellent and important goals for the club. Solid pro off the field too and wish him nothing but good luck. Not sure what his next move is but will need to drop the level significantly as his body just isn't up to PL football any longer. Hope he gets a good deal/club it's definitely the right time to move on for the club and Wilson himself
-
This is exactly the issue - who's picking the targets? Who's negotiating the deals? Is Mitchell's list the same as Howe's? Who's speaking to agents? They've had fucking months to prepare for this summer and nothing has happened at all. Eddie Howe is a brilliant football manager and he's more than done his bit over the last 10 months, expecting him to be on the phone tying up deals when he's on his holidays is ridiculous, there has to be a system in place where other people step up and execute basic transfer/scouting shit? Putting all of this on Howe isn't fair imo, he has to take a step back and ask others to step in and help out a bit. Surely?
-
Sorry but this bloke is currently being let down massively atm. He's delivered a trophy and CL football despite no major first team signings for multiple windows and there's nothing backing him up off the park. Last season was a hell of a struggle at times but the results came and created genuine momentum and excitement and that needed to be built upon but there's been nothing since. Trafford could be close but that deal has been in the pipeline for more than a year. Howe's more than doing his part, the players have delivered and they're all being let down as we speak off the park It's not good enough tbph. Match the stuff the players and management have done ffs. Get your shit in a pile and back this bloke up
-
Always going to be tough to tempt players to come here as opposed to Chelsea unfortunately. Legit reasons to choose them over us too, just got to hope we have a plan B and move on. Not sure why we spent so long on the deal if he only wanted the Chelsea move though, that doesn't make sense to me
-
Yeah that's fair enough, what's happened to Eales is awful and something no-one could have predicted, such is life, these things happen unfortunately. I still think it's fair game to at least be informed of what's happening as far as his eventual replacement is concerned though. It's now a billion pound club and we've got no idea who's calling the shots or who is responsible for each aspect of the operation (unless I've missed it) and it's been like this for a while now. I don't expect miracles and don't need precise details but there's no excuse for the zero communication we've had for a long time now
