    Dan Gosling

Very good signing and kudos for Hughton for getting the lad. Not expecting the earth from him but if he's got a working pair of legs then he's already above Smith in the pecking order. A bit of graft in the middle of the park and him getting from box to box for the full 90 will be like a breath of fresh air. Looking forward to seeing him play.
  2. They're stockpiling players this season so when the new financial regualtions come in they've already got players they can ship out to fund any new faces they need, thus breaking even(ish). Any club would do the same, the price of a player is irrelevant for them.
  3. The shirt itself isn't special but some of the blokes who've worn it certainly are/were. Agree withe the idea that the main striker of the club should get it regardless of their 'standing' against the likes of Milburn and Shearer.

This also probably means that they won't be signing Mensah from Lyon then.

If you can't cope with pressure/expectation then you're not a very good player. He had too many good/decent games to be called a shit player though. People tend to forget the times when he was solid and unspectacular. But as you say, he simply can't deal with any pressure and is always going to be a bit of a liability. Glad he's signed for that lot.

There's a positive correlation to the pressure/expectation from the fans and his fuck-up's. Average player who crumbles when the heat's on.
  8. The Number 9 shirt should be given to the main striker at the club at that time. That happens to be Carroll at the minute so I've not got a problem with it at all. It will always represent the state of the club at the time and the fact that it's now Andy Carroll speaks volumes about where we are as a club at the minute. This is where we are so let's just get on with it. Best of luck to the lad.

Must have bought perch with crates of pigeon breasts. Bought with the cash saved from Butt fucking off.
  10. Cracking signing. Had it been 2005ish.
  11. Win or lose? Is this a real question? Erm, win please.
  12. Can't really blame Hughton for doing everything he can to stop the opposition playing. We were never going to come into the league and start knocking it about and playing possession football because we're blatantly not good enough to do it. Next season is going to be small ball. Set-pieces, direct football, corners and percentage football. Keep the games tight and win 8 or 9 of them at home and we should be safe. It's not going to be pretty but we have to stay up and if shortening the pitch is going to do that then it's fair enough imo.
  13. To be fair, it's not the worst bit of advice, is it?
  14. Either way, he has to sign this summer or we have to sell him. Not particularly arsed if he stays or goes but he can't be allowed to walk away for nothing next year. That would be incompetence of the highest order on behalf of the fuckwits running the gaff atm.
  15. Change the red stripes to black and that could have been our shirt had we gone with Umbro.
  16. Great goal. Had loads of time and space obviously but he took it well.
  17. Jesus wept, man. How shit must Carlisle be if that useless knacker can score against them?
  18. Is it worth putting the latest score in the title? Does anyone care enough?
  19. The home one looks smart as fuck but the away and 3rd ones are dogshit.
  20. Shut down? You are having a laugh right? Simply buy a membership and thats it, if you go to 4 or more games it pays for itself, the majority will be ST anyway so arent affected 'Shut down' was the wrong choice of words tbh. He's making people jump through a few hoops to get back to where they were though. It'll certainly dilute that area of fans that were there and spread them out around the ground a bit though.
  21. Just passing comment that the most vocal anti-Ashley section of the ground is the very one he's, basically, shut down might not be a coincidence. (Not an Ashley fan btw, just passing comment)
