  1. I'm quite relieved they've signed him actually. I thought that they'd be throwing some canny money around for some decent players who'd make an impact and make sure they were comfortable next season. Instead, they've signed Greg Halford for at least £3m. He's obviously been bought because he can fill a number of positions which means he'll play most games if fit. If this is the standard of signings they make this close season I'll be well chuffed. Got to wonder why Coppell has let him go so easily just 5 months after buying him? Always thought Coppell had a canny eye for a player and is good at spotting young talent. Makes me wonder why he's let him go.....does he know something Keane doesn't?
  2. De Stefano? Cruyff?

There would be no point in renaming SJP to anything else. Everyone would still just continue to use SJP and the sponsors know this. Only new ground like The Emirates have sponsors in the ground title. Grounds that are brand new have never been known as anything else will attract the sponsors, not us.
  4. Excellent shout. blueyes.gif
  5. Real now want him to stay... Calderon says there's a clause in the agreement which means Real can call the deal off. LA know nothing about it. Trouble brewing methinks... Just been on SSN.
  6. The move suits all parties I think. He'll be as happy as a dog with 2 dicks over there man. He and his stupid bint of a wife will get all the attention and publicity than you can shake a stick at. Him actually playing football will just be a sideshow.

  8. Bet he had a shit view of the game then.
  9. Given the fact he's a free agent in just 18 months time, I think getting £9m for an injury-prone player who doesn't want to play for you represents canny business actually. Tin hat on. Anyone familiar with straight line depreciation?? Said it before, offer him a 2 year extension now - if he has to even think about the decision, sell him to whoever bids £9m.
  10. The bloke's a fucking arsehole and he's shit at his job. Tarting the team up does not equal shelling out £17m on Boumsong and Luque. That's £17,000,000. How many decent prospects could he have picked up from here and there for £17m? That would have been building a team.... [move]He's a PRICK![/move]
  11. Before the takeover a few weeks ago I'd have sold him for a modest profit to generate funds for Allardyce to play with. No question. Now, that it's looking likely that he'll have quite a bit of money to spend, (fingers crossed) I think it's worth the gamble of keeping him to see if he improves with better coaching and having a bit of support up front. Plus if he can keep all 4 strikers fit he can rotate them and let them rest when they need it, thus keeping them fresh.
  12. Hmmmmmmm. Interesting. If, and it's a monumental if, this is true then I'd suggest either Owen or Martins will be on their way this summer. Then again, it's the NoTW so it's more than likely pigshit.
  13. If we get to the stage where we're in a position to shell out £10m on players considered a 'gamble' then he's one I'd like to sign. He's obviously got a shitload of natural ability but hasn't shown it on a consistent basis. If Ashley opens his wallet and our transfer budget is ridiculous, then make an offer for him - he'd be worth the risk.
  14. He might be a canny prospect but we need the finished article tbh. Worth investing quite heavily in the back four because we need 2 full backs and 2 centre halves. Ben Haim may be one of them...

Get in Messi! Hoping can Zaragoza can hold on for a point.
  18. Wouldn't mind getting Dyer and Luque off the wage bill. That would save about £120,000 a week too which is just insane when you think about it. Also the shite like Pattison and Ramage. Carr and Babayaro would be straight out of the door too as soon as they were replaced by better players.
  19. I admit I spat some beer out when I read this line: "Trainee hairdresser Dyer also had £150 stuffed in her bra and jobless Fearon, 19, £120 in his sock." They not only deserve each other, but they also deserve the life they're going to have.
  20. Not sure where he'll go but he's off this summer. Just seen his latest interview and his body language, diction and rhetoric are all negative towards the Arsenal. He's saying things he shouldn't be saying and looks very unhappy and is angling for a club to make an offer imo. Any serious offers that come in - he'll want to speak to them. Nailed on to leave. blueyes.gif
  21. Genuinely think he played the best football of his career when he was here. His movement and pace meant Shearer had a bit more time and space to do his thing and, although they didn't get on at all, Shearer benefited because of Bellamy. He was one of the main reasons we, as a club, saw Champions League football and finished 4th, 3rd and 5th - along with Robert. The 2 of them dragged us 7 places up the league and I'll always be grateful to them for that. They both have their faults mind. Both, in my opinion, were totally mismanaged by Souness and forced out of the club by a bloke who just didn't have the skills to manage them anywhere near properly. He couldn't deal with them so he sold them. For a fraction of their actual value. Not meaning to drag up arguments from years ago but we could do a lot worse than re-sign Bellamy but the obvious caveats apply. If he's still a fucking arsehole off the pitch then no, if he's matured a bit then yes.
  22. Nihat? Aye, Nihat Kahveci. Really good striker. He signed for Villarreal last summer from Sociedad didn't he?
  23. Anyone else slightly concerned that, according to The Times, we're battling Birmingham City for this world-class superstar who just so happens to be available for nothing? If he's that good/highly rated, what haven't the cream of Europe tied him up? Perhaps he's just a good player, rather than the footballing god he's made out to be? Just a hunch.
