Refuse to believe we scouted him expensively and dropped £70m on him without having an idea as to where he was going to play or how he would be involved in games. I get the fact he's a natural number 10 but if he's being picked as a central 9 then he's got to understand that he needs to be on the penalty spot or 6 yard box far more often. I know that's not his natural game an he wants to drop deep and create but either Howe or the coaching team need to be very specific about what his role needs to be for the team atm. He's a mint player and a great guy but for the time being he needs to curb his instincts and become a converter - there are plenty of balls coming into the box and he needs to start finishing a few of them off. That's not a pop at him specifically but I can't remember a more frustrating season watching us slog away at deep defences and create virtually nothing of note, it's happened a dozen times already at least, mostly away. It's just not clicking and sadly doesn't look like doing so unless Howe changes things up top

Must be absolutely lush to be able to do whatever you want, whenever you want. Rules in place for everyone else just don't apply and can be just ignored and the investment just carries on regardless into infinity - no jeopardy, no risk, no consequences, no pushback - just buy whoever you want, whenever you want and roll along, FIFA, PL and UEFA removing slight little speedbumps along the way so you're not inconvenienced either

Just looked a game too far for us tonight. No need to criticise or pile in on anyone, just a bit frustrating that, as good as we are at home, there are just some teams who can keep us at arm's length for most of the game and take their chances when they appear. We had our moments and laid a few gloves on them but City controlled that once the first one went in in all honesty. No disgrace to lose to that lot, they've got quality in every position and can replace it once it gets tired too, that's a very nice situation to be in

I'd go even further and suggest he's utterly deluded if he thinks he's been trying hard and producing for his team too. He's been picking and choosing when he's busting a gut and more often than not he's been going through the motions and his numbers back that assertion up. He's barely half the player he thinks he is but the annoying thing is that when he's decided he's going to put a shift in he looks really good and a real asset. The rest of the time he looks like a passenger and I've got no time for any player who's playing for the name on the back of the shirt rather than the badge on the front. The minimum I expect is maximum effort and we've not seen that often enough for the last 18 months

If West Ham lose tonight I honestly think they might be done (barring a manager change and the new bloke clicking immediately). They'll be 7 adrift - doesn't seem much but it's taken them 20 games to get just 14 so it's 50% of what they've got just to close the gap. Throw in the fans turning and/or storming the pitch because they don't like it again and it's got the potential to get a bit sketchy down there
