Wouldn't be so keen on Bentley because I think there are more pressing priorities - namely in central midfield and up front in place of Viduka. Some top class in either of those positions would really see us pushing up the table imo.

Support a French team then. Like most french in Paris, the lady supports PSG so in way i support them as well. yes yes yes...another supposedly big club in decline. You're in Singapore now, support a team there then. Just stop coming on here and telling people from Newcastle how shit our club is. Perhaps you could nip into General Chat and slag off the city too?

They know about this, what Ashley thinks, what Keegan thinks, what Wise thinks but they didn't know about Jonas or Guthrie. Interesting. http://www.toontastic.net/board/style_emoticons/default/scratchchin.gif

That's the verse-t pun I've heard in ages.

The press are clueless as fuck. It's hilarious how little they actually know compared to the bollocks they write.

Bit harsh to be judging him after only three games! I mean whether or not he's expected to be our main central midfield signing that will drag us to glory or a tidy squad player.
-
Very disappointing comments from Charlie but fuck him. He signed the contract and if no-one pays a hefty wedge for him, tough. He stays and, if picked, he plays.

We've always bought squad players because teams need squad players - some clubs have the academies to get their squad players from there (Arsenal, Liverpool, even Middlesbrough), unfortunately we don't so it's sensible to go for young talent at other clubs who are good enough to come into the team and do a job in case of an injury rather than a foreigner who may not settle or an old hand whose legs have gone. This is even more important now we have seven subs - it was only two or three seasons ago we started a Premiership game with a 4 man bench because we couldn't fill it. For the record, Shepherd oversaw the arrival of Kevin Gallacher, Diego Gavilan, Daniel Cordone, Lomana Lua Lua, Clarence Acuna, Wayne Quinn, Andy O'Brien, Darren Ambrose... that's just a few under Sir Bobby, I could go on and on and on. All had varying degrees of success and all were squad padding. But Shepherd only ever signed superstars didn't he? The time to judge the merits of this signing is the 31st August. Until then, it's ridiculous to do so either way. Good luck to the lad, that's all I can say.

Viduka is unreliable and despite his class, his legs have gone. Geremi and Butt are both on the slide, who knows whether Barton will ever regain his Citeh form or even be here for that matter. Taylor still has a long way to go. Apart from that, not a lot imo. When we were at West Ham, we kept saying to each other what a difference it would make just to have a midfield that could pass the ball consistently. With that formation and that front three, teams other than the big guns will never feel totally comfortable and we'll always create chances and score goals. If we had a younger, fitter Viduka, we'd win a substantial amount of games just because of the strike power.
