Chelsea vs Newcastle United - 22/11/08 - pre-match thread
Big Geordie replied to Dave's topic in Football
Radio Newcastle reckon Shola might have a knock, hence him being on the bench. -
Yup - present economic climate is affecting most clubs attendances, not just ours. Thought we did very well yesterday to get 47000, all things considered.
-
I don't think it will be sold, because Ashley appears to be struggling to find a buyer. I'd also take with a pinch of salt, anything that comes from the club over the issue. They are only too happy to lie to fans if it suits and the media lap it up as the truth.

The match is on Radio Newcastle 1458mw

He was said to be on the verge of greatness, by Marco van Basten, no less. -
When do you think Michael Owen will leave Newcastle United?

I firmly believe the club will seek to ship him out during the January window. Why else is Dennis Wise still at the club? Scouting for new targets? Bollocks. -
Sunderland appoint Steve 'I bleed black and white' Bruce as new manager

Wouldn't be surprised to see him go, given the cash he has spraffed away and for what? A poor recent run and problems which were masked by the derby win over us. -

Sky reckoned we've only won one league game on the road, in 2008 - Spurs away. Not good enough! -
Oh right, did Keegan have absolutely no say now? Not absolving Wise of a lot - if not most - of the blame. What do you think?
-
It's a consequence of having no playmaker in midfield. Barton and Butt are reasonable at what they do, but they can't make something out of nothing. Another area of the team which Wise failed to address in the summer - though I suppose must be KK's fault according to some?!

Poor first half from us - we just don't look at the races at all. Not surprised to see Cacapa drop another rick - a player of his experience should have done far better. Need to step it up in the 2nd half - we can get a point here. Question is, do the players want it enough? -
Again - was impressed by him last night. Had a good physical battle with Laursen and I'm sure he has the knocks to show it this morning. Nice one Shola - but keep it up please.
-
It'll be one of the few reasons why Wise is still here. He'll more than likely have been briefed by Ashley to ship out the likes of Owen, bringing cash into the club whilst trimming the wage bill. Very worrying indeed, because the club may well end up preparing to play in the Championship. Will also suggest that Ashley has JK in his back pocket, as the bloke will be desperate to stay in the job come what may. That's more than likely why JK alluded to the Keegan stuff, earlier on.
-
OK. I'd still suggest he has been mis-represented. The article should have stated that it was his own personal view, and not the view of the SC overall. Poor journalism and also pretty poor that some folk seem keen to poke holes in anything they can, to devalue the SC.
-
Is he spokesperson or have The Chron just stuck the lable on him?
-
So if for whatever reason Ashley can't sell, then what good is protesting going to do? Because it'll keep the pressure on? That's what the SC are after as far as I can see.
