  1. Lost all support the moment they put that statement out. Hopefully one of them will stand up and say that the statement doesn't reflect their views.

    Steve McClaren

    Hopefully resigns at half time

    Sunderland

Why though? Your chief exec had a copy of 834 messages of Johnson grooming and talking about their sexual acts, and knew that Johnson had confessed to kissing the victim and then let him play for almost a year.

    Sunderland

Johnson is probably just the tip of the iceberg to be honest, the game past and present is probably awash with mini-Savilles. Depending on the aftermath the floodgates could open for another scandal

    Sunderland

I thought he was suspended on full pay? There was no reason for the PFA to get involved like they did.

    Sunderland

Didn't the PFA lobby Sunderland to get Johnson reinstated in the first place? The PFA has got too big for its boots. I can't see a normal employment Union banging on about the rights of an employee charged with a serious crime.

    Sunderland

Need to see the FA man up and deliver a lifetime ban from all footballing activities for Johnson, then dock Sunderland 3 points for every game he has played in the past year.
  8. Got a fiver on today, West Ham, Leicester, Stoke and Coventry for 10/1
  9. I would rather keep the replays, but.... If they are scrapped, up to the 5th round, any club drawn against a team two leagues up can chose if they want to play home or away, plus can have a large away fan allocation if they opt to play away.
  10. What has happened to the lad, no one else has been quite Pardewed this bad. It's like he got replaced by a doppelgänger after his first season with us, who can't play football!

Because he used the Sunderland shirt to groom the girl I think it is quite probable that he has brought the game into disrepute. After the trial I would like to see the FA serve him a life ban from all footballing activity.

Footballers have allegedly been doing this for decades. The whistleblower in the Bruce Grobbelaar case wrote a book which includes reference to an un named Liverpool player doing an under age girl on her parents front lawn iirc

Yeah contempt of court is a very serious matter so rtg is sensible to lock any threads down. It is very unlikely that such a series of events would occur, but if a juror decided to look at what the Newcastle fans were saying and something they saw on here prejudiced their decision, and caused problems with the trial, the causant posters and website owners could well be dragged before a judge. Contempt of court might well be why Sunderland were forced to unsuspend him in the first place

    Sunderland

Didn't Sunderland suspend him? Then unsuspend him? And now he has only plead guilty after several opportunities to do so, now he has been able to play as many games as possible? It is hard to point fingers at Sunderland as we don't know what they knew. Perhaps the league needs to issue some guidance on when players should and shouldn't be suspended if accused of certain crimes?
  15. Can't see the comparisons with Pardew. No left backs

    Graham Carr

Presumably if Carr was such an expert in French football we would be picking up players like Mahrez for peanuts...
  17. Who would have thought that Nigel Pearson's son being in a sex tape would be one of the most pivotal moments in football history.

    Steve McClaren

Personally I would prefer moyes. I also think Mourinho could be tempted until the end of the season it would be good for his ego.
  19. I'm pretty happy, January should be about subtle changes and improvements and addressing any injury issues. In previous January Windows we have not done this, but this time we have shown a bit of pragmatism that you would not have seen previously including signing two England internationals and a player on loan. We also attempted a short term loan deal for a left back once the injury issues became apparent. We did not get all our targets but that is football. Fingers crossed that the players we have brought in will help to keep us up and we can build in this for next year.

    Seydou Doumbia

Medical done. Charnley sending the contracts to FA in secret code via carrier pigeon
  21. Doumbia has never played in this league though, could take him time to adapt, and that's time we don't have. We need someone to score now, who's used to playing here. Signing a striker in form is critical for me. Absolutely just like when Cisse was banging the goals in when he first joined. However it is not impossible that Doumbia or even Mitrovic might find some form for the final few months. It is a risk but it is not in achievable so long as we are creating chances.
  22. I suspect WBA will accept the best bid that comes in, but will miss the paperwork deadline.
  23. Even though they had spells out on loan didn't we have Williamson and Ferguson registered?
  24. I didn't realise our left backs were all injured long term. To me this looks like a sign that we have another left back lined up for the summer, maybe one who has been out injured or otherwise presently unavailable, hence we can't move for it now. Perhaps also a sign that McClaren has talked the board around on a number of silly things they were dead against before.
