  1. He's attempting a Guiness World Record in handstands on the top of Mount Kilimanjaro.
  2. Lets target their young debutant right back. Mick Lowes is fawning over Aaron Hughes embarassingly.
  3. To be honest, an away draw at Sunderland isn't that bad this season. They are going to manage the odd good result here and there, and should stay up.
  4. And they couldn't have told him from the bench? Its a pace and fitness issue, not a tactical one.
  5. Apparently Emre was about 10-15 yards further back for the whole match than he was meant to be against the mackems, which is why he isn't starting.
  6. Good opportunity for us to overtake West Ham and start bumming Blackburn and Villa later.
  7. Academy over the stand every time. As mentioned, others during their time at NUFC gave us more, but also Robson gave more to other clubs and football in general. A Robson Academy (hopefully) brings future football talent to both NUFC, England and the footballing world, whereas a stand is too grand, too rigid, too unchanging and too permanent for someone who is more of a football man than a Newcastle man. Plus it can be argued that Robson laid some important early building blocks in our Academy, so it is something he contributed too. All of Robson's other contributions have gone now to be honest - he left great memories, but his footprints in the sands of time have been washed away by changing tides.
  8. Not too sure about playing our weediest two centre halfs against a Fulham lot who are strong, tough and uncompromising. I would have taken a gamble and played Edgar.
  9. Well Capello has more experience at coaching youth players than any good English manager currently out there.
  10. Reading a few articles about Capello, in particular a BBC one where Desailly, Seedorf and Boban discuss his attributes, I'd say he actually possesses quite a few similar principles to Allardyce. This could be intersting if Capello and Allardyce were to find some common ground and have some sort of working relationship. For starters, if both of Owen's managers can come to an agreement about how they want Owen to play, I can see Owen improving for both teams. Sam may also pick up a few small tweaks to his systems from Capello. 433 is popular at the moment because there are more players to defend, but perhaps Capello can show that a team can defend just as well with a 442, while offerring opportunities to attack. I reckon if Allardyce can learn to implement Capello's 442 system, it could hugely benefit us.
  11. When Ramage let that player run inside him against Birmingham last season, he showed that he isn't even good enough for the Championship.
  12. The Italians blatantly arrested some Brits to make them look blameless.
  13. Perhaps it could be worth sending out preliminary feelers to the club? i.e. we outline various things the club could do and someone writes a 500 word argument about why and how each suggestion could be done, and then the club can then respond to tell us what suggestions they are receptive to. That way we can't run down an impossible alley. I'd be happy to write an argument supporting the pre-season tournament.
  14. I reckon England should haggle Freddy Shepherd/Monty Python style.
  15. He certainly looks like he could be part of the cavalry.
  16. Before indi went on and did it himself, noone outright went ahead and said "Yes, I'll definitely do it," so therefore no-one can have any complaints.
  17. Personally, I'd choose naming the academy AND a pre-season tournament AND leaving an empty seat for him at SJP when he finally goes.

    BABAYARO GONE!!

Despite departing, Babayaro has been taking time out to visit sick children in hospitals with other members of our squad. Fair play to him
  19. Because we are looking at improving our youth setup, I'd be against Lippi while other candidates are available because he smokes, and I believe that the person at the top needs to be setting good examples of health and fitness.
  20. I'd say it was a good idea if we had the right coloured seats, but I dont think there is enough contrast for a decent Bobby face on our seats.
  21. Personally, although I wont oppose the idea of naming a stand after him, I think it is too grand a gesture for someone so modest and humble. At Exeter City, one of their stands is named after their most famous players, Cliff Bastin. Bastin played 17 games scored six goals for Exeter City before joining Arsenal. Naturally this is ridiculed. I doubt a stand named after Robson would ever be ridiculed, but in reality, for Robson, Newcastle are really a footnote of his career, and although he will be forever popular with us, his time at NUFC will become dimmed in the future by the role of future heroes. I think to get a really huge long term gesture at any club, you have had to achieve something, and although he has had a great career, I dont think he quite achieved enough at Newcastle. Personally, I think there should be some gesture in the near future, probably a friendly or even a Robson Trophy that would start out as a tournament involving Robsons past clubs, but then become a regular pre-season tournament similar to the Amsterdam one, and of course Robson would be the guest and get to present the trophy. And then when he passes away, we could create some sort of memorial, not a statue, but maybe a mural on a wall, or a large quality photo of Robson being the last thing the players see before running out of the tunnel, or my own favourite idea, having a seat in the stadium (either in the dugout or in one of the stands) kept permanently empty apart from a small park bench style plaque and a black and white scarf.
  22. To be fair, I think he was on Match of the Day duty.
