The optimism now doesn't compare with that of summer 2005 in my opinion. Except we forget with hindsight how happy we all were now we've seen pretty much all the signings made that summer disappoint. Thus far, I am neutral - we've got the bodies and operated effectively in the market, but arethe players good enough? Ask me in November if I am satisfied.

There is a fair chance that at least one of our new signings will disappoint, but thats football, it is rare to get every signing right first time.

Thats what we'd be getting from Roeder last season. Woodgate will be a Newcastle player in 12 months in my opinion.

I said that last season that players including Taylor were too worried about finding out how much longer was left to play from the bench, that it was negatively affecting their end of half/game concentration, and suggested more clocks, and got a right bollocking from people on here. Looks like the new management agrees with me though.

Opinion is very one-sided right now it would seem.

You can tell when the start of a new season is going to go badly when HTT comes back from a preseason game and comes out with loads of positives.
