  1. You're taking your horseplop talking levels to new heights here. OK. Simple question... Taking off any black and white specs that we all wear, if those tackles were made on our players would we or would we not have been shouting for reds. i don't see that it's even a 'tackle'. mitro has gone to try & trap/play the ball as it comes down & when the arsenal dude gets his foot in 1st mitro's boot goes straight down his shin. never a red for me & i don't think i'd be super arsed if the roles were completely reversed.
  2. the uncalled Thauvin penalty is the exception that proves the rule for me, marriner had an absolute stinker & his judgement was absolutely upside down all game.
  3. i hate this red & white sash on blue shirt! we look like old pepsi cans!

He looks decent but the ghost of Pablo Barrera haunts my soul perhaps Berrera flopped b/c of his injury? premiership is too physical for tentative play... Corona, from what little i've seen of him, plays very hard--he's difficult to knock down/off the ball for a little guy. i was really impressed by his 1v1 skills--even when the defending 1 turned into 2!

Jesus Corona from Mexico looked very dangerous in the Gold Cup vs Costa Rica... think he plays in Holland; no idea if he's available but i can dream can't i?
  6. looked a legit penalty to me as the england lass had her ankle get stepped on inside the box...
  7. Yup. Despite being at home against a team who didn't really care about winning we only had 41% possession despite it being an absolute must-win game. We had 17 shots but only 4 on target and we misplaced passes all over the shop (but glaringly messed up loads of passes in the final 3rd). The players again looked like they either didn't know, or didn't like their team-mates, constantly ignoring passes when players were in better positions, fuck knows what they do in training. I'm glad we stayed up but if we'd have been playing against a team who actually had something to play for I suspect we'd have been massacred. We owe more to the managerial abilities of Agent Bruce than the coaching of the semi-sentient lasagne that's been running our lot since January.
  8. thank you. both explanations were lovely, btw, making 2 lovely explanations on the bounce.
  9. what is the meaning of the phrases 'on the bounce' & 'on the spin' do they mean 'since the last win' or something else?
  10. imagine if Woodgate had stayed healthy too!
  11. So, HTT, in that season where we lost the title to MU in the closing days... what's the key moment or tipping point that sent us on our way to where we are now?
  12. so 2003 was the year of our undoing?
  13. did Robert ever give an explanation of why he took his boots off?
  14. been reading some stuff on alternatehistory.com ( you know, what if Harold not William had won at Hastings? etc) & it got me thinking about where everything went wrong for this club. at what point did everything start going tits up? i'm not sure i know enough to comment intelligently on where, if we could intervene in the real timeline of NUFC, we'd have been better off today if only we'd not done X, or, HAD done Y... sacking SBR? hiring Souness? fat freddie's selling up to the wrong chap? curious to read what you lot think...
  15. September 12, 1885, Arbroath beat Bon Accord 36-0 in the Scottish Cup - still a record for a game where both teams were trying to win. In Madagascar in 2002 disgruntled players deliberately racked up own goal after own goal to lose 149-0 on purpose. ...so, somewhere in between 36 & 149 - 0
  16. would've been so great if that 30-yarder had gone in!
  17. for someone with a lightbulb head, he certainly is bereft of ideas.
  18. see, this is what gets me so about our owner-- if only he would just wake up to the idea that there's something that gives joy to life besides ₤₤₤ he'd be having newcastle families naming their children after him! he needs a 'come-to-jesus' moment or something... beyond frustrating...
  19. haven't been able to keep up with the latest, but having Garde in seems like it would not just be good for us, but good for the league.
