Marley looks like he is part of some Geordie terrorist regime issuing a video threat.
-
People said similar things about Carrick, and to be fair he has more than held his own and has enhanced his reputation since leaving the Spuds.

Sky bet suspended betting on Celtic when I looked this morning. Ross County were 12/1 for the win. Bet there are some happy and pissed Ross County fans banging the shite out of their wifes/girlfriends/boyfriends tonight!

I have seen us play worse, we're giving the ball away more than normal and the defence are under a bit more pressure than usual. Still not surprised to see us level before the break. I think we can go and win this comfortable if we start the 2nd half well.
-
Whats the odds on Morgan getting "payback" on Carroll later. Dirty prick, clearly the ref would be watching the next corner, the ball goes over their head and he is holding Carroll preventing the him getting to it, what is the ref supposed to do? Just because most refs bottle it doesn't mean it was a bad decision, interested in hearing what the half time "experts" have to say on it.

The yellow ticker tape hasn't looked so good since it said Newcastle appoint Kevin Keegan. Well done everyone connected to the club. What happened pundits, I thought we were going to implode and do a Leeds, this is a big FU to all who took joy in our misery. We have did it in style with very little drama. Mr Carroll aside we have been pretty much well behaved aswell, model club. Simon Bird, Laylor- you c**ts

Could you imagine the media ho-ha if we sacked him after a successful season?? He had a poor stint as caretaker manager in the Premiership, whilst this should not be forgotten he was an out and out novice then dealing with someone elses team and someone elses problems, that he did not have direct control of, he was also caught in limbo knowing that it was very unlikely he would get the job. This time around he has more experience, he has built a team he is comfortably with and he is the one dealing with the problems. I think the man has earned a crack at the Premiership next season. With the right funds coming in I believe he will use them wisely, so far his only real flop being Leon Best and because of McLovens run and Carrolls run and now Shola back in the goals it hasn't been a problem. My biggest reservation at this stage is can he make the big decisions? At this point in time Nolan is NOT a premiership standard midfielder, if he is in the same state of fitness in August will the manager pick better more able players? We could go and get a big name manager - Gianfranco Zola, Steve McClaren are they up to the job of getting us challenging for Europe eventually?? Or an experience manager like - Allardyce, those types have failed with us before. That being said I was using the same excuses when Roeder was give the job full time. Its a gamble keeping Hughton and a gamble changing him, I think it is less of a gamble keeping hold of what we got, with decent investment and players bought in the right areas I believe we can stay up next season and that will be massive, it will give us a foundation to push on and establish ourselves as a Premiership team again rather than the promoted team, that in turn could help us attract a better calibre of player.

Not having to listen to Don Goodman co-commentating next year.

I think even if 10 million was spent correctly that we could maintain Premier League statuts next season, not sure if we will spend it right. If we can pick the bones of the better players who get relegated and get some players from the Championship that improve on our deadwood such as Nicky Butt then I am sure we can stay in the league next season. Above all we need energy in midfield.
-
This is a difficult one, because surely the aim to get to the premier league is to enjoy nights at Old Trafford, Stamford Bridge, The Emirates and such. However, who defines the strongest team, as someone pointed out the majority of the team that beat West Ham the other night in a massive game played against Man Utd at Old Trafford. I suppose McCarthy went about it all wrong, sort of owning up to it before hand didn't help his cause. Maybe he could have said something along the lines of, "its a busy period, I have picked a team tonight and will pick a team on Saturday v Burnley that I feel will give us the best chance of achieving maximum points over the next few days". Surely the FA/PL would find it difficult to punish Wolves off the back of that? Why wasn't Man Utd punished goven what Wolves have been punished fot, okay they won the league, but surely they had responsibilities to other teams in the league, namely us in the eyes of the PL.

survival is a must next season, its after that we can be more ambitious. Its pretty clear we'll have a very tough season with our current lot.

Along the same lines, but not in Spain, how can I get cheap Ajax tickets if anyone knows? You got to be living in Netherlands to buy ticket only, otherwise you have to spend a fortune on hospitality packages.

Is Mike Ashley steering Newcastle United in the right direction?
Tisd09 replied to LooneyToonArmy's topic in Football
Anyone reading that article will make people think that only us fans gave Ashley stick last season. No matter what he did last season the journos hammered him, some of the stuff rightly so. The decision making has definately improved this season, but could it get any worse? He is keeping his head down and things are working on the pitch so for now I am happy. As some have said he has massive decisions ahead of him. Will he get it right? I hope so. -
How's it going for the players who left Newcastle?
Tisd09 replied to LoveItIfWeBeatU's topic in Football
As much as I like Simpson I think Beye is a more effective player, he like Enrique on the left would have been head and shoulders above any other RB in the Championship and playing regular. To be fair a team like Villa calling for his services would have been hard to turn down. -
It was horrible today. I am a Newcastle fan born in Swansea, yeah i know its wrong but I support Newcastle and wanted a win today. I was there with mainly Swans supporters and everything they said about us was true. Our midfield was shocking, most of us have seen it this season but they couldnt believe how poor we were. Swansea IMO didn't even play that well today but the ease with which they played around us was embarrasing. We'll go up this season but I think we all know we need to improve a few levels to compete in the PL

Swansea City Vs Newcastle United - Sat 13th Feb - 12:45 KO- Live on SKY
Tisd09 replied to Fenham Mag's topic in Football
I can't wait, I got invited by one of our suppliers. It will be the first time I have seen the Toon in a league match, I have only ever seen us in that semi final at Cardiff against Man Utd. Apparently only one other Newcastle fan will be in our group the rest will be jacks. I will have to remember to take down my Newcastle baby on board car sticker. Its going to be a tough game especially with Swansea beating Palace last night and us losing to Derby. The ticket office is having a bit of stick they are taking advantage of a big draw like Newcastle coming to town, they are only selling tickets for this game as long as you buy tickets for Peterborough, that is just plain wrong. Who is travelling down and staying the weekend? -
The Ayatollah is a sign of how wankerish they are. I am from Swansea, we were away in Gran Caneria on a boys holiday, on an excursion there was a bit of friendly banter between our group and a group of lads from Cardiff. As soon as they got off the bus, they turned to us and done that stupid ayatollah motion started calling us all sorts and wanting to fight us, though the motions to fight were made as the bus drove away. Not that we would have got off the bus if it was stopped but one guy in our group was tamping, really tamping. Football violence is shite. Watching Swansea and Cardiff in a local pub and everytime a black player touch the ball they were booing them something terrible, black players or in one case mixed race layer scored for Swansea that day, not to mention a few black people in the pub watching the game clearly supporting Swansea. Even though there are wankers out there, they are thankfully in the minority.

Our CM is a very big worry. Smith has played above exectations this season but that doesn't mean he is the answer. He will get hammerred in the Prem. Nolan would be useful in a midfield 3 as he no longer has the legs. I think the only 2 that have potential in the Prem is Guthrie and Barton. Doubt Barton can rediscover his International call up form and I am not sure Guthrie has it in him to be a top class player, but he'll do next season. Butt should be nowhere near a Championship squad next season let a lone a Premiership one. We seemed to improve last night when Guthrie moved inside. Nolan has been struggling lately not even scoring goals so would like to see a midfield 4 on Friday of Rutledge-Smith-Guthrie-Jonas. I think that can work.

Am I over reacting here or is this one of the worst performances in a while??

You forget the cross face!!!!!!

Wasn't Strachan watching MacDonald? I am sure I seen in the Papers that Celtic wants £3 million for him?

Promotion = More Important that FA Cup run but as someone pointed out there is no reason you can't have both. Its unlikely we'll do well but if you only entered the cup to win it is there any point of the majority of teams that enter to be in it. There is nothing wrong with rotating the squad for it as we did yesterday, but I would hate it if we put out a complete shadow team yesterday.
-
I want to go as far as possible in the Cup. Why not? Okay it offers a risk of injury, but regardless of a FA Cup run we SHOULD still go up. Look at today and Leeds win at Old Trafford, shocks can happen. How great would it be to draw the mackems at the SOL and knock them out? There is always that chance that you'll take a kicking but I don't think Leeds fans were thinking about that before kick off today.

Thats the best list of freebies for a while. Would like us move for Johnson, Ledley, Pedersen, Belletti, Scharner & Saha. Maybe some of them not good enough to be starters but we need a bigger squad in the Premiership and cannot afford to buy players so freebies are the way forward. Wages maybe a stumbling block for all mentioned, especially if other clubs are interested to.
