I always thought he was just passing through in all honestly. I was resigned to him going next summer. I hate the way he’s behaved and the disrespect shown to the club, but I can’t get too upset about him actually leaving given who we’ve brought in. The plan was always to trade and Eales said as much. My main concern, especially earlier in the summer, was the lack of clever signings coming in from good scouting. We’ve somehow managed to get ourselves into a good position squad wise, but I hope there’s some extensive work done now behind the scenes to sort everything out.

The sheer number of signings for most clubs is pretty staggering. Everyone doing a Forest. Surely it’s a record number.
