    Sunderland

Depends whether anyone quoted it in their signature if I understand things correctly.
  2. Brendan Rodgers @brodgers_lfc Thatcher's dead, Fergie's retired and Liverpool are on course to win the league. Somewhere there's a Scouser with a lamp and no wishes left. Liverpool-supporting friend of mine retweeted that earlier. Gave me a laugh.

I don't know anyone who thinks we have any World Cup chances.

  5. Fuck yeah, ice dancing short program is on at the same time! Touch choice, but winter Olympics are only once every four years and all . . . .

  7. No. edit: first straight red. though. Arsenal's Koscielny got sent off for a 2nd yellow yesterday. NETD
  8. At least we know why they're not in the squad for St. Mirren.
  9. To have the U21 team reveal it in a match against Workington seems somehow perfectly appropriate.
  10. You say that now, but you know in your heart that it will be Warrior, Errea, or someone even more diabolical.
  11. It's Soccer Master - stores in the St. Louis and Kansas City area.
  12. Just got the Summer catalog from a local soccer shop which included the new Newcastle strips. Larger size image is in the spoiler. Obviously, their image could be incorrect, etc. but since it was black instead of blue Wonga I thought I'd share: http://imageshack.us/a/img585/8519/o4u0.jpg
  13. Any (legit, of course) audio or video for this? Didn't seem to be any mention of live coverage on either official site, but didn't know about local radio/TV. Is there a Scottish Neil Sika waiting to be discovered? Or fabulous Scottish sausage commercials to see?
  14. He wanted to buy (bless him) the St. Louis Rams before he moved on to the Jaguars, and he came across very well in the interviews and media blather surrounding that. Seemed very smart, humble and well-intentioned. Unfortunately, Stan Kroenke was already part-owner and had a right of first refusal to buy the team which he exercised. People in St. Louis were disappointed as they would have rather had Khan.

    Alan Pardew

"Nope. Still not as frightening as Kinnear as my DoF." or "New formation, lads. PLEASE pay attention. Cisse, you're the head. Colo, you're the leg to left of its arse. No, my left."
  16. Catts for me like. Not really.
  17. Plus the interest would have eaten up most of the parachute payment.

    Alan Pardew

Much agreement with the rest, but this is giving Pardew too much credit. The Manager of the Year and the 5th place finish papered over far too many cracks that were apparent last season. We had so many dirge-like performances last season that were papered over by out-of-the-blue goals. I can't fathom how Pardew managed an award apart from people who only looked at the results and/or the table. I was surely chuffed by the final reckoning, but there were signs all last season that things were not well tactically, and with all of the luck we had last year abandoning us this season, I'm disappointed, but hardly shocked where we find ourselves. Certainly, if we survive, I have hopes for the squad, but Pardew? Fuck right off out of the club please.
  19. No problem ceding the top spot to them.
  20. American football, at both the professional and top college levels is definitely up there. With stadiums that seat 50 to 100,000+, hours to get properly pissed up before the game, long-standing rivalries (many college football ones go back over 100 years), a small schedule (16 games for the pros before playoffs, only 12 for college) so the result of each game is critical, and crowds dominated by young males violent bullshit is pretty inevitable. In typical U.S. fashion, people don't often get killed, so the violence isn't mentioned much. I experienced some nasty stuff on a regular basis when I was an undergrad including some full-scale skirmishes that stretched out over blocks and required riot police and tear gas to break up. I've also had some quite menacing stuff at certain away games, including, memorably, some hateful shouting and chanting directed at my then-pregnant wife.
  21. 2 more points in the table. Edit: Congrats to Davide. Hope he doesn't get hurt.
