2014 FIFA World Cup Brasilâ„¢ - Europe vs. America
stlouismag replied to LucaAltieri's topic in Football
Shit. Was so used to the second game starting an hour earlier, that I already left work and poured my first drink! Sorry, boss. -
Growing up in Michigan, if a state didn't have a Big Ten university (back when it was ten . . . don't get me started on that!) in it, we didn't consider it part of the Midwest. Having lived in St. Louis for the past 20 years, Missouri, Kansas, and Nebraska definitely include themselves in the Midwest, and folks here would almost certainly exclude Ohio, Indiana, and Michigan from the definition. Probably would exclude Wisconsin and Minnesota too if they ever thought about it. In other words, the Midwest is a pretty flexible concept with some serious regional variation in its definition. More a state of mind than anything else really.

Depends whether anyone quoted it in their signature if I understand things correctly.

Brendan Rodgers @brodgers_lfc Thatcher's dead, Fergie's retired and Liverpool are on course to win the league. Somewhere there's a Scouser with a lamp and no wishes left. Liverpool-supporting friend of mine retweeted that earlier. Gave me a laugh.

I don't know anyone who thinks we have any World Cup chances.

Fuck yeah, ice dancing short program is on at the same time! Touch choice, but winter Olympics are only once every four years and all . . . .

At least we know why they're not in the squad for St. Mirren. -

To have the U21 team reveal it in a match against Workington seems somehow perfectly appropriate. -

You say that now, but you know in your heart that it will be Warrior, Errea, or someone even more diabolical. -

Just got the Summer catalog from a local soccer shop which included the new Newcastle strips. Larger size image is in the spoiler. Obviously, their image could be incorrect, etc. but since it was black instead of blue Wonga I thought I'd share: http://imageshack.us/a/img585/8519/o4u0.jpg -
Motherwell 2 - 4 Newcastle United (FT) Post game euphoria from pg 19

Any (legit, of course) audio or video for this? Didn't seem to be any mention of live coverage on either official site, but didn't know about local radio/TV. Is there a Scottish Neil Sika waiting to be discovered? Or fabulous Scottish sausage commercials to see? -
He wanted to buy (bless him) the St. Louis Rams before he moved on to the Jaguars, and he came across very well in the interviews and media blather surrounding that. Seemed very smart, humble and well-intentioned. Unfortunately, Stan Kroenke was already part-owner and had a right of first refusal to buy the team which he exercised. People in St. Louis were disappointed as they would have rather had Khan.

"Nope. Still not as frightening as Kinnear as my DoF." or "New formation, lads. PLEASE pay attention. Cisse, you're the head. Colo, you're the leg to left of its arse. No, my left."

Plus the interest would have eaten up most of the parachute payment. -
Much agreement with the rest, but this is giving Pardew too much credit. The Manager of the Year and the 5th place finish papered over far too many cracks that were apparent last season. We had so many dirge-like performances last season that were papered over by out-of-the-blue goals. I can't fathom how Pardew managed an award apart from people who only looked at the results and/or the table. I was surely chuffed by the final reckoning, but there were signs all last season that things were not well tactically, and with all of the luck we had last year abandoning us this season, I'm disappointed, but hardly shocked where we find ourselves. Certainly, if we survive, I have hopes for the squad, but Pardew? Fuck right off out of the club please.

No problem ceding the top spot to them.
