Ranger made a positive impression when he came on. I'm not one of his biggest fans but the lad did well yesterday, closed down well and when he received the ball he was a nuiscance to them. Better from him, keep it up!! P.S. Shola was back to his worst yesterday...hmmm

As simple as this really: Guthrie is a back up player, he has no place near the first team when all are fit. He did a job today, but he isn't a player who will make a difference for us like Barton or even Nolan when it come down to it. Somebody said earlier that he doesn't do a lot wrong but the game just passes him by, he doesn't impose himself on the game at all. Useful as a stop gap.... P.S. Jonas had one of his worse games but was at least effective defensively...

Agree with junkhead and beardsley: Guthrie's workrate is awful and it seems he lacks that "spark" and plays at a lower pace or level that we expect from him... Would rather have routledge on the right or even put Jonas on the right and bring on Vuckic or ferguson on the left (ferguson is left footed?).

Whilst choosing the teamsheet every week Jonas would be well above the following: Smith, Guthrie, Routledge, Williamson, Shola, Routledge, Ranger...etc..etc. We don't have anyone any better to put in there... And there are a lot of worse players who don't get half of what he does...

Who would you prefer to come in against Chelsea? I personally would like to see Sol partnering Taylor for the game against chelsea, I know you are all thinking "too much", but I reckon against Drogba, malouda and company we need some pace and muscle, both of which williamson lacks. Might be too much to bring in two ring rusty defenders but something needs to be done, we are shipping goals at the moment (a lot of it due to barton tiote absence) so a rash decision needed or just slip one of em' in?

Lovenkrands at least has experience and a neat touch, he can keep the ball rather thasn losing it with sloppy passes as seems to be Nile's forte. I hope he proves me totally wrong tho`...

got slated yesterday off someone for suggesting that he isn't up to it. He has two outstanding faults: laziness and sloppy passing when in positions where possession is paramount.

Sorry folks, but what I have seen of ranger is more dangerous to us than is of benefit to us... He puts too many stray passes away when we start attacking and this is the most dangerous phase to be caught in, he is quite decent going forward but seems lazy to pressure and to cover back. I would rather have Nolan up front than Ranger. P.S. Totally unimpressed by his gangsta style (personal opinion and nowt to do with football).

On a plus side, if he starts scoring for England no-one will diss the new "shearer" and we will be the talk of the toon (lol - pun).

I am not being funny but against stoke we lost because of two mistakes, Blackpool was a blip and we just thought we could walk it. I can't really place blame at Hughton's door and I think he offers this club a huge added value that isn't taken into consideration. As for Ranger for Nolan; Nile makes too many silly passes and in the prem these can cost you a game, his concentration isn't great over 90 mins. Nolan is very professional, he doesn't make too many mistakes and he is constant... I also would be going with the seniors to keep us up although at home I think he could be a little more adventurous... Keep it up Chris!!

I detest Liverpool most of all. Their fans are the biggest bunch of moaning barstewards I have ever come across, I also think that they are the most snide and the ones most likely to do something that turns your stomach i.e. stealing stuff, causing unnecessary bother and general scuminess. All of this is based on visits there early nineties, stories from a mate who is a paddy but supports them and goes to all european outing and their "poor liverpool" victim stance on everything from refs to bungling yanks. HATE EM'. RANT OVER
