  1. My last game before moving to Spain was 1997, Nufc Vs Barca in the champions league "Tino, there´s only one Tino...". Been supporting since 89-90, keegan and bobby were the best I have ever seen, after bobby left it has never lived up to expectations.

He played allright yesterday. Reason he was on the right was that he only really had to play two easy passes; on to the wing back and the other back to dubs if needed. He struggles with the ball at his feet but we have known this for many years. He defends pretty well when he is up for it and always seems to give his best for us. Needs to be sold in the summer and upgrades brought in. Would imagine somebody will pay 10-12 million (he is english which ups it a bit).
  3. I think all of the above state what is clearly obvious to us all; he does not put in the hard yards when opposition has the ball (pressing, covering and tracking runners). Yes, he has a bit more license than others only because he is capable of pulling results out of a hat due to his magic moments. Against lesser opponents who do not pose such a threat, we can more or less carry his lack of defensive duties and depend upon his attacking attributes to help get us the win, but against top ten teams such as chelsea we all see how it makes a difference when an opposing full back can adavnce and pick his passes. Eddie must be seething when he sees a display like yesterday, he was only on for 30 minutes, so in my book he should have run harder than the rest of the team on the pitch... I also think he could well be sold in the summer if a large offer came in. I am also quite suspect of the last week or two´s "illnesses & injuries". I absolutely love the bloke and he has saved our skin a few times this season, but I also hate him at times when his attitude stinks. I should take the positives and be thankful for those crazy moments he gives us... but there is always the little bit of conscience that asks "imagine if he tracked back aswell? what a player he could be!"
  4. The elbow could have been red or yellow, this ref was not big enough to give it. The penalty decision was awful, VAR should have notified the ref for him to look again at it on screen. There does not seem to be any clear criteria for these decisions, it is a farce. As for the team, i though we did a greta job and it looked like a point for us with no problem. The goal was sublime; the pass and the control of the ball were top class. It did look like Burn slipped a little while turining and lost a quarter of a yard on haverz, unlucky as he was majestic again... All in all, we played well and should have had more from the game, VAR made sure that we diddn´t get our point.
  5. Rudiger is a beast and kante wouldnt be such a bad signing???

He still suffers from exaggerated backing off when someone gets near him, I was screaming at him to hold his ground a few times last night!!
  9. It is starting to smell a bit off like... First the niggles and off to France, then trains and doesn´t play, has 30 mins and then is ill??? Hmmmm?
  10. I thought he was a youngster finding his feet, oh well... Yep, if he is 27 then he probably won´t make that much progress, but we always have the big Joe example to try and emulate...
  11. Apart from when he was dispossessed in the first half, he had a solid game. A 100 times what he was under Bruce! Good cross for the goal and was a decent outlet most of the time. We can´t ask him to be a defensive destroyer because he will never be that, but his positional play and covering of passing lines was pretty good yesterday. I actually thought the link up with Bruno was very good. P.S. We sorely missed the power pack that is Joe Linton in midfield, they won too many of the disputes in the middle, and oreol had too easy a game for me.
  12. I hope he changes Murphy and Shelvey for ASM and Bruno, let´s go all out attack!!
  13. Same, think shelvey needs to be rested and Bruno needs to be tested!
  14. Very good post. Like to think that with both willock and linton flanking him he could be the more "holding" of the three. We would be much more progressive but would still have the nous and muscle to hold our own and shield the defence. Shelvey has played well up to now but we need to progress...
  15. Only downside of keeping him as "back up" is that you don´t really create the healthy competition you are looking to have for each spot in the team. I like him and think that he might need another year to develop, don´t want to let him go and he becomes another milner/Toney...
  16. half decent back up for me. I have always thought there was a player in there somewhere, he just hasn´t quite stepped up the performances to merit a place more often
  17. This. He needs to start a game and Shelvey was pedestrian on saturday, so there is no better time. Would be nice to see willock getting some decent through balls and some more link up between ASM and bruno
  18. He has never been great at coming for contested crosses, it is one of his known weaknesses. He is playing a lot better than any other keeper on our books can and is good enough for a mid table team. We have other places which need to be filled first in the summer, although him as back up to a great keeper would be fantastic...
  19. I thought Sancho was pathetic yesterday with his non-celebration of the goal. I would have been fuming if I was a team mate. I would even go as far as to say he purposely missed the second attempt he had, he had time and space to place that one...
  20. They have so many problems, which to the outsider are bliss! The manager situation has been ongoing since alky nose left them, which believe it or not is ten years ago. The players´body language is awful, they are always looking to blame others and the worst candidate is Bruno, always flailing his arms about in disgust and giving death stares to his team-mates, he is one of the worst culprits at the moment for not giving his all. Both cavani and Ronaldo crying off with injuries seems totally suspect to me, Rangnicks comments also suggest he was as surprised. Glad to see that they are stinking out that shiphole even more!! hahahaha
  21. Absolute class compared to anything we've had post bobby.

Seemed to get a bit closer to his man and stood his ground/ didn't back off at 100 miles an hour... eddie must have analysed and coached it out of him
  23. Too early to say, needs to lower the risk taking in our 1st third, bit futher forward is fine, but safety first at moment pls!!!
