More StoriesWhelan blasts 'classless' Ashley Newcastle United team page Kevin Southerton, 26, ran on to the field after Djibril Cisse scored for Sunderland in February's Tyne-Wear derby. He told police who pursued and arrested him: "I hope I get banned. I'm sick of watching this." Although Newcastle magistrates could have imposed a three-year banning order, they opted to fine him £200. Defence solicitor Liz Dunbar said her client had acted impulsively and no longer wanted to be banned. "Clearly, that was something said in the heat of the moment when he was very upset at the performance of Newcastle United," she said. "I don't know very much about football but I understand he isn't alone in that feeling at the moment. "Nevertheless, he has clearly changed his mind about that." Newcastle lost 3-1 at home to Arsenal on Saturday, a result that left them languishing in the relegation zone. - - - Some more memorable fan protests: June 1994 - A Bulgarian man throws his television out of his window in disgust after the national team are thrashed 3-0 by Nigeria in the opening game of the 1994 World Cup. Bulgaria go on to knock out holders Germany and reach the semi-finals. April 2001 - During a 4-1 defeat away to Arsenal, an Everton supporter runs on to the pitch and offers his shirt to midfielder Alex Nyarko - suggesting the Toffees would be better off if the pair changed places. Nyarko duly slaps in a transfer request. February 2006 - An angry Middlesbrough fan throws his season ticket at manager Steve McClaren during a 4-0 home defeat by Aston Villa. Nobody picks up the ticket. Later that year, McClaren is appointed England manager. November 2006 - Fans of Schalke go silent for the first 19 minutes and four seconds (to signify the club's founding in 1904) against Bayern Munich to protest against the team's poor form. Schalke score in the 13th and 18th minutes but the game ends 2-2. Alex Chick / Eurosport Not enough for its own thread but funny.
  2. Ramage was better than Colo recently. I don`t know whats happened too him. I`m still trying to work out what Colo`s main attribute is apart from his long hair. He hasn`t got the pace, he hasn`t got the strength, he isn`t great in the air, he hasn`t got great awareness and he isn`t a leader. Why was he worth 10mill ?
  3. Agree. Taylor could have stayed on the ground for longer and hobbled off slower even if it meant getting a yellow, then the whole team should have defended and got a few yellows if needed just to time waste whilst somebody reorganised. You see it all the time but we didnt. I suppose also the element of bad luck, Bassong already gone, Taylor wasn`t injured by a foul, Beye`s first game back and most of the team was either slower than a snail or a 5ft midget attacking player. Just the usual curse when anything goes our way for more than 30mins.
  4. How much did we get in insurance for the long term injury ? Have you taken that off the figure ?
  5. Suing the club for OBVIOUSLY valid reasons or he wouldnt have a case right? If the people above him stuck to their job descriptions and been good boys they may be £9 million pounds better off come next season. Like i say, if a manager was sacked he would want his compensation. Same thing. Managers get compensation which amounts to the remainder of there contract. He was here 9 months, so what kind of f***ing contract do you believe he was on to warrant £9 million compensation? Im using the press figure of 9million, which is probably off. If he was being forced out - which is very possible - if the 3 of them didnt have a good working relationship, he felt couldnt do the job he was employed to do. He wouldn't stand there and take it. The timing - transfer deadline was obviously very dissapointed. Also look at his body language after the Coventry game talking about James Milners future something disturbed him. Hopefully the truth will come out If i`ve browsed through this right this might help with the figures. It depends what wage he was on. I represented someone at an employment tribunal recently. We proved constructive dismissal, meaning she could no longer do her job employed to do for various reasons. She got full pay from the date she walked out to the day the case was closed. On top of that she got certain % multiplyiers for inconvinience, money lost, costs, interest at 8% and many other factors. She was owed about £80. We walked away with £4000 and we didnt go for everything entitled too as she was pleased with £4000.
  6. I`ve got keegan (yes its really him) on one of my social networking sites. He hasn`t said nothing since the goals but before the match. kevinkeegan...could be another 5-0er tonight, although sadly not for the team I'd like it to be! kevinkeegan...oh no, and I've just seen the team sheets. I don't think Alex is in the mood to mess around! Its a pretty purposeful selection.
  7. You forgot about the 4-5 goals of the season scored against us every year. Also the players that score their only goal of the season or decade against us. Also the weird referee decisons against us that I hardly see in other games.

  9. If we could play football, this would be a classic 2-4 us scoring when they are over committing to get the equaliser.
  10. Havn`t paid too much attention, but wasn`t he going to cost 8mill ? Also had a long standing ongoing pelvic problem ? Failed medical. I`m glad would rather save the money for the summer, weather it be to get us promoted or if we survive to carry on building. He would have failed here 5 games in with that price tag anyway. It was reported on Setanta the second the deal fell through.

I missed the goal. It went back to it as they were celebrating.

  13. Lol do people think the managers meet up with large briefcases of cash ? The fees are in installments over a long period with all sorts of add ons and stuff. The figures guessed in the press what we recieve isn`t in one lump, also as it comes in it might help with the monthly loss we make every month. Its funny how some people think Ashley is making an earner here.
  14. Darren Bent APP GOALS 2001–2005 Ipswich Town 121 (49) 2005–2007 Charlton Athletic 68 (32) 2007– Tottenham Hotspur 49 (15) National team England U21 2003–2005 14 (8) 2006– England 04 (0) OBA 2002–2006 Internazionale 87 (33) 2006– Newcastle United 76 (26) Theres not much in it, Martins is more exciting but Bent is a bit more useful as well as scoring goals. Would prefer them both but at a push Bent for his link up play, thats the one bit Martins is shit for.
  15. He landed badly on his ankle at one point I think.
  16. I must be super cynical as i pointed this out a few days ago, until ashley recovers his £100 mi he cant sell I'm confused. So how's he going to recover his £100 million, then? Easy. Every season he sells our best players and buys some inferior ones with the money this generates. The unspent cash goes into his pocket. This season for example we look like funding the £10m purchase of Xisco, Nolan and Taylor by selling Milner, Given and NZogbia for about £25m. A possible profit of £15 million on transfers would only cover just over half the clubs yearly losses (based on the last lot of accounts), while reducing the pot of future players who would bring in a profit if they are so inferior. Easy my arse. While not taking a penny, he would still need to subsidise the club. Sounds a great money spinning idea. The question was how is he going to recoup the £100m he lent himself, not the £135m he paid for the club. Ashley needs about £240m to break even. He almost certainly intends to do this by flogging our best players and then selling up. Asset stripping isnt complicated, you just need a complete lack of morals. He should be able to get £200m for a struggling PL club of Newcastles stature. So if he keeps us up for four or five seasons hell be quids in. If we go down hes f***ed. So where does this endless stream of world class players come from that he can make a 20m profit on selling for 5 years running? You said yourself he'd be replacing them with cheap, inferior players ... I said best, not world class. Martins, Jonas, Beye, Guthrie & Taylor would bring in a few quid +any of the young kids were buying who actually make the grade. Wouldn't total 100m. edit: you know what, nevermind. You're just a WUM. I'm not wasting any more time. No Im not, youre just thick as shit. Completely incapable of understanding anything unless its spelled out in a way a three year old would get. You have made a mistake there mate. You have Taylor in your best players catergory
  17. At home, doing the "honestly honey we will win this week" speech with the misses as usual to convince her to sit through the pain with me. She lost the stomach for it about a year ago. She used to cry when we lost in the Bobby days ( thats when I got her into football ) During the the Souness and Roeder days she would just get depressed for a few days, now she just hates me when I convince her to watch it. Anyway Watching on a 50" Samsung at home in Ipswich.
  18. Zog needed to be sold that's without doubt, but we should have got more money for him. £8m plus Ryan Taylor would have been easier to swallow. This is a player who has pace, power, good shooting ability, and can cross. He'll do well at Wigan where he'll be first choice left wing. I'd disagree with this. He rarely finds people with his crosses and the last time he scored a goal from range was the Bolton game 18 months ago I think. He does get power and venom in his shots, but his accuracy isn't that great. If he makes it anywhere near the box without running into someone
  19. Ryan can play right back and as a winger on both flanks. I believe Lovenkrands can play both wings too as well as up front Yes, mainly left wing, left forward. Like a midget Luque.

  21. How is 20mill going to save us anyway ? We have spent more than that in our 5yrs going backwards rapidly.
  22. I think we are so poor we actually confuse whoever we are playing, what we play is so far from football it has a negative effect on the opposition.
  23. 2. Sam Allardyce. He should sack him right from the beginning. Ashley has admitted that he thinks Allardyce wasn't appropriate to be the manager and he wanted to appoint another one, but then he thinks "Well, why not give it a try? If things doesn't go on well then I will sack him" WTF is this strategy? Give it a try? Sack whenever not impressive enough? Jesus christ. It's just like another temporary manager appointment. No stability at all. I don't blame him for not putting money into the transfer market (considering that's the consequence of FS and his interest-free loan) but he's failed as an owner, simply as that. To be honest I would have done the same in the hope BS did ok. Simple reason, No 5mill sacking payout and less of a manager merry go round, you know just to have a slight break from a manager every 9 months or what ever it works out at. Also maybe its not that simple, well its fact its not that simple getting a decent replacement manager to kill there career here at the drop of a hat. I can`t remember when exactly timescale wise from when Ashley got his feet under the desk to sort out the actual takeover and when the new season started.

I would probably be he same with some of the decsions that have gone against us this season, I havn`t got the sun shines out of my arse approach to life. Try it for one match yourself bet you can`t do it without gobbing off something about the referee. Isn`t Warnock the same ? yet everyone finds him funny and the media make joking fun about it. Not defending it, I`ve just noticed how perfect some people on here try to come across.
