James Beattie considers Stoke future over Pulis bust-up
Mowen replied to Liam Liam Liam O's topic in Football
He'd comfortably be our best striker. -
Gerrard has played his best ever football for England under Capello on the left. By some distance. Lennon has been in brilliant form over the last 18 months, his crossing has improved considerably and will add some important pace and directness (clearly not a real word) to the team. It isn't square pegs, round holes in the slightest because they fit perfectly into the system that Capello has devised and, thus far, has been working brilliantly.

Yeah I agree, always thought he looked OK in the middle. Had a superb game as part of a back three against Stoke too. Utterly awful whenever I saw him at fullback mind.
-
Best away crowd I've been in was probably the 7k or so at Blackburn when Big Sam was in charge (of us). Shite performance, but a cracking atmosphere for 90minutes. Near-death experience when Oba opened the scoring too.
-
If Seb Larsson is actually going on a free he'd be a cracking signing.
-
Get him kicked out. Don't fucking glass him like a piece of lowlife scum. (allegedly...)
-
he threw the drink first the other guy, so ac can say he was provoked tbh Don't think having a drink thrown over you is a great excuse for glassing someone. It isn't exactly the same as throwing a punch.
-
Lennon would definitely be my first choice for right wing. He's been superb for the last 18 months or so, I'd start him without a doubt unless Capello can get the team to function with Gerrard and Cole on the flanks.
-
It doesn't say anything about the other guy throwing his glass.

Lennon is playing much, much better than SWP this season.
-
Top two into the CL, next two into the UEFA, two into the cup winners cup. Sounds fine to me, there's way too much european football as it is.
-
he actually dropped owen for lovenkrand's in the arsenal game iirc Liverpool.
-
Sadly that news has no relevance to this thread.

That's 5 yellows I think, he'll be suspended for this. As a positive it means we'll definitely play two strikers, Nolan has been very important for us this season though.

Have we ever found out how much we got / are getting for Edgar?

In whose eyes? I'll be the first to admit it's hardly the most imaginative terrace banter ever. It's vulgar and offensive. Unfortunately the pseudo intellectuals on here don't do either of those, for fear it outs them as the uncouth, gibbering gimps that they actually are. The only place that seems to still be debating the validity of the banner is here and, to be completely honest mate, I had you down as a borderline spastic anyway. Also, in what way did it have an impact? It didnt have an impact, i thought thats what you were arguing in the context of the stewards policy. No one noticed it. Funny that but plenty of media outlets noticed the 'not welcome @ st james park'". Why? Because like proper football banter, it was funny, slightly clever and entertaining. I only commented because it seemed a bit contradictory. Anyway, i research and develop genetic treatments for cancer for a very healthy living, am more borderline genius tbh. Your last sentence shows i lost you in less than 3 sentences of basic argument. Draw your own conclusions on our relative intelligence.

Argh, everyone always highlights that one. It was shite goalkeeping. He scored an absolutely fucking amazing free-kick at home to Southampton from about three miles out. That one was his best imo. His first goal for us in the 4-3 against ManU was probably my favourite. Then Southampton, and a staggering one he scored from the wrong side (poor keeping again but incredible nonetheless) against Derby to start the comeback in the 3-2 win.

not strictly true though was it. he wasn't hounded out by the fans and a lot of fans were, in my opinion, correct to voice concern about the drop in standards on the pitch from the season before. Correct. Should of gone the season before, right? Once it was made public it was going to be his last season he was on borrowed time. That was the mistake. The players knew he wouldn't be there in 12 months time and I believe he lost some of his players. Not his fault but I do wish he'd have gone in the summer rather than go through what he eventually did. But we had just qualified for the Champions League 3 years after being saved from relegation, having just finished 3rd. If you can condone sacking him under those circumstances then in my opinion we deserve everything we're getting now. Yes we werent playing well, but we were still playing better than 17 other teams in the Premierhip, we'd also be one of the favourites for the UEFA cup having failed against Belgrade. I just dont understand it at all. Hence the reason why I hate a good proportion of our fans. Its the fans that have put us where we are now becasue they werent happy with what they had, they set in a chain of events which lead us down the path we are now. You reap what you so. Yeah, the fans set us down this path by forcing Sir Bobby to be sacked and demanding Souness to such an extent that he had to come in. What a load of complete and utter bollocks.

We don't have a team of world class individuals but the team itself is fantastic at the moment. The job Capello has done thus far is almost flawless.
-
pedro would.

brummie'll be jizzing it when he sees we also hate Brady now.

The wages they were paying were insane, Campbell £105k, Diarra £90k, Muntari £60k, James and Distin about £60-70k, Johnson £40-50k (all rough but generally accepted). Racked up the debt to outrageous levels, they can only hold about 18k at their ground. Good team he built mind.

He was dreadful. His career has been a joke since he left us too. Magnificent under Sir Bobby though, him and Bellamy really turned that team around. Dreadful? So presumably you were happy that we left him out against Lisbon? He was having a decent season when he played, and was signed up by Benfica after us, which is where the decline truly started. We still needed him in the team as he had some end product but he was a shadow of the player the season before. As I mentioned, not one goal from open play isn't what you would have expected from him given the previous season, it was a staggeringly fast decline. In terms of dreadful I mean right at the end, his performace against Spurs in the 1-0 loss was absolutely pathetic. He went to Pompey for half a season straight from us iirc and did absolutely nothing, housemate at the time supports them and was really excited about it but he was a complete waste of space apparently.
-
It should be noted that he had limited opportunities under Souness. Typical posturing by the Scot in not bringing him on against Chelsea on the last, probably the most pissed off i've been as a toon fan, until Fulham last season. All 5 of those goals in his final season were direct free kicks iirc. He still had some of the talent but just wasn't the same player once Souness arrived.
