From what I remember Champions League games were sold out the first season 97/98 before the ground expansion. Second time around 02/03 when the ground was 52,000 there were empty seats. Midweek games very rarely sell out it seems, regardless of competition or opposition. There's logical explanations for that I guess. The surprise with Man City for me is the empty seats at their weekend Premier League games, that's whether they are set to win the league or the reigning champions. Not sure why they felt they had to up their capacity a few years ago. Penis waving probably, a max capacity figure is something else to crow about and if rivals are increasing then they will too

Going for Gold - Shed Seven. Sky used it on one of our games in the run in 95/96 Nessun Dorma. Italia 90 You Get What You Give - Metro Radio used it as our cup final song in 99 Goal Scoring Superstar Hero (anyone under 30 google it) Love Local Hero, but rather than being the Bellway advert suggested by KI its 100% a local second hand car dealership advert

I wonder how much not winning the league this year would take out of Klopp after being clear a few games ago (assuming of course City go on and win it)? He'll either be galvanised into going one better next year, but its just as likely that this is his best chance and he goes on and does a Rodgers next season.

The two dropped at Wolves. Forget any ref injustice/softness/bad luck etc, just on the timing of events in games we really should have seen out +1 point vs Wolves at home, +2 vs Wolves away , +2 vs Cardiff away. I can't think of any games where we have gained points in injury time to counter these Stick 5 points on and take 3 off Wolves and we re joint 10th and only one point off 8th. Small margins which whilst we haven't taken them, ultimately just further cement how bloody good Rafa is at this shit

Miguel Almirón (now playing for Atlanta United)

That was away to Boro And didn’t he elbow someone as well? Then followed up by nutting Keith Curle the following week. Remember him shrugging his shoulders as the ref wanted a word ? he may have gotten a ban after but he wasn’t sent off, madness given how blatant it was. He was half cut as well -
Every player makes a mistake in every game. The equivalent mistake made by a winger results in a throw in, unfortunately for keepers when they make a mistake it is more likely to result in a goal and they therefore look worse. Dubs gets worked harder than most keepers in the league and its inevitable that mistakes will happen. He's still more likely to save us points than cost us them so I won't lose sleep over it

Without the last page that's simply the drunk ramblings of an old Dutchman remembering the 80s and early 90s

I was thinking it must be a capped capacity tonight, but that cap is over 50k so little over half 'full'

Doesn't really matter how he does between now and then, but I'll be shitting myself if Fulham get a corner or freekick on 85 mins+ in our last game of the season. You.Just.Know.It

That just reminded me of the '95/96 season for some reason. What a joy those days were, its like an alternate universe currently. For me Football, and the Premier League in particular, has become too 'perfect' for its own good. Look at the top teams and players now and they are such athletes they are like machines. Compare this to the mid 90s and all of the top teams and players had at least one flaw or a characteristic in their game that would not be tolerated today. More teams however had at least one player who was a genuine entertainer and match winner. I don't think you'd get a debut like Wanchope's now, and Ginola probbaly wouldn't be in a top 6 side. Le Tissier? Doubt he'd be a premiership starter. OR maybe its just the advertising hoardings and shirt sponsors in the 90's were more fun

Not even the best 11 that Keegan put on the pitch for is there. Which kinda proves the point all the more. I'd maybe have Fernandez partnering Albert though, as much as I liked Howey and Peacock was unfairly maligned at times we did miss someone who just put themselves between ball and goal at times

If it was written well and had the facts checked before inclusion wouldn't F365 publish a fans piece on our record with pens/reds/decisions in general? There's enough there even without NUFC bias to make it an interesting read - the length of time since the last red, the penalty vs Burton (?) in the Championship, going full seasons without a penalty etc. These are statistical anomalies and just pure comical officiating which are the things that seem to make their pages. I'm no good at writing stuff like this but we have a few budding scribes on here don't we?

Clicked on page 47 randomly, Tiotes goal against City 2014. One of the first posts referenced us not getting a penalty at all the previous season. This shit is as old as the navtity

Is there a website that would have the stats for the number of red cards and penalties awarded for and against each team over a period of time?

He made up for his kicking with his quick long throws though (PS)

Can see this, well either this or a hat trick -
I say as someone in finance who has had detailed and light touch exposure to NDAs in business or part of business sales that anyone who let anything out the bag - even to a colleague - would be frog marched straight into a disciplinary. There will be rumours of course and some of these will become 'fact' but these cant be trusted at all as nobody outside the NDA will know anything

Definitely recall it being Ferdinand or Asprilla that had to be sold and Dalglish chose Asprilla after having assurances he was settled. Come Jan he had gone as well. Ferdinand not going back on agreeing to sign for Spurs was due to him being told he wasn't in Dalglish's plans, selling one or the other was a board/plc requirement
