  1. 2 years ago today Mickey Owen was paraded at SJP
  2. Take off the rose tinted glasses yourself and you'll see that Robson became a lame duck the day Shepherd went in front of the press to inform everybody that Robson was not having his contract renewed, the minute he did that was the minute that the players knew they'd be at the club longer than the manager, the manager had lost all authority in the same way as a certain Mr Ferguson had at Man U when he announced that he was going to retire. Man U were struggling until he changed his mind and said he'd remain as manager of Man U. Most people predicted that Robson wouldn't have the players on his side as soon as the announcement was made. Although it didn't need saying by Fred, I'm sure that it was fairly well known that it was Bobby's last season anyway
  3. Bit young to be shoved straight into the first team then
  4. Or more likely.. Sam has been taking training Ashley has been selling trackie bottoms Mort has been doing 'legal business stuff' Announcements can come later
  5. I want Deco! (or Adriano, or Riquelme, or Ronaldinho, or Swarfega, or Kaka, or anyone really!)
  6. Is Blu Bamboo open during the day? Thi scould be the secret negotiating dungeon for Mort and Ashley
  7. Gordon looks a top class keeper tbh. Could well turn out to be every bit as good as Cech IMO. No doubting he is a class keeper, but considering the state of the Macke squad is a £9m goalkeeper going to make much more impact than a £2m goalkeeper? I can't see him winning many points purely due to the number of shots he's going to face. Thats why I reckon he was a waste of money - had he gone to Arsenal however I'd say he could potentially win them the league with points saved over the season compared to Lens or Almunia
  8. Pandering to the crowd, looking for a good reception tomorrow
  9. Can't see him coming. But at least we know where .com get their info (Anyone who will give them it). I might send them an email saying I have seen deco in Cruise with his wife but I only had a disposable camera on me and am waiting for the photos to be developed so itll take about an hour. I bet they'd put it on and say 'Photo's to follow'. Thing is, they used to be quite reliable. A while back, if a signing was on there it was as good as done. They've got advertisers to please now though, more hits keeps them happy. More rumours equals more hits. The more commercial any medium goes, the less reliable (A bit like Derek Achora)
  10. Couldn't afford 8.5m obviously Much better than shelling straight out for him. They can see how good he is with little consequence this way. It is a loan till the end of the season, with a contract to exchange the 9m then - it is a tax dodge by West Brom, similar to the one they pulled with Kusczak and Man United. There's no escaping it, we're legally bound to pay the money for him after a season. If you're legally bound to pay the £9m over after 12 months then its not a tax dodge. Can't be arsed to go into the details, but over the 2 years or whatever accounting period the transfer spreads over they will pay the same tax But it would reduce the tax they pay in the current accounting period, surely? They've had a good summer, sales wise. That's why I said over 2 years!

  12. To me the best quote was about Riquelme. 'Its up to Sam' Shows that (a) The boss picks the players to sign, and (b) There's money if needed
  13. Probably Hoon on here Meh! Think we've been rumbled anyway, unless funtimeharesy is one of us the Wiki Genderbending edit is up
  14. Had another confirmed signing. http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/606/F8107159?thread=4535171&skip=660&show=20 Come on, I reckon if we get 10 sightings it will be on the main page
  15. And its up! http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/606/F8107159?thread=4535171&skip=580&show=20
  16. A few people should. Just posted that he is in Newcastle, £10m fee. Being moderated first though :-(
  17. My pet hate... It was always going wide Well, duh. Unless theres a deflection of course its either always going wide.
  18. Rozy and Beye Rozy and Beye Sailing along on the old Rag Doll (Coat already gotten....)
  19. This will probably get updated throughout the day as panic buys kick in, but who do you think has been the worst buy so far this summer? I'm torn between Bent and Gordan Both good players, but for £16m Spurs have paid stupid money on a position which they didn't need to. Also, at £9m you would expect to be signing someone who is going to save or gain you a fair few points over the season, as good as Gordan is he isn't going to save Sunderland too many points over the season, just prevent a few hammerings. Suppose Smith could creep in for us (disclaimer, I think he wil prove himself eventually), again solid enough player, but was he what we needed to spend £6m on considering we have also bought Barton? Thoughts? (No poll added as it seemed a bit pointless)
  20. Leave him alone, he's currently locked in a week-long love session with the bint he pulled at Blu Bamboo
