The Europeometer™ (2024/25) - NUFC Qualify for Champions League
Colos Short and Curlies replied to Rich's topic in Football
Im turning to the idea that finishing 3rd in the CL group would be the best thing for us in the medium term. Gives us another avenue for potential CL qualification next year. youd think that ManU will spend in Jan and improve, City, Liverpool and Arsenal are pretty much certs for top 4 and Villa can afford a drop off and still be in a strong position. even with 5th potentially being enough id like an alternative option to aim for -

We’ll probably get a ‘Just Stop Boats’ protestor interfering tonight -
Some of the hysteria will be down to not knowing what the alternative is and suspicion that its going to be a move to Longbenton or Hexham or somewhere else totally out of the City. Once the plans come out, and assuming its a state of the art stadium within earshot of SJP the view will be positive, I have no doubt on that
-
If we do move - and assume its within the city limits - would people prefer a completely fresh ground name or something like New St James Park? Ignoring of course that it will have a sponsored name, this is for the core underlying name
-
I wonder if the opposition to moving (within the city) would be as strong if Ashley hadn’t come along and messed around with the name

I'm surprised Mr McCoist isn't Mr depressed this season. He's gone from 3 breakfast shows with Laura Woods to 2 with Andy Townsend and 1 with Alan Brazil. Although he does now get the TNT games with her, so ,maybe that's why he's happy when doing co-comms

Feels a little early in the season for a trip to woodenson as well. might make their ‘welcome’ a little less loud than the last few years -
Botman and Tino on the left hand side is going to be one hell of a wall.

Lets be honest, all of this noise around Neves and Saudi is just providing a perfect cover for us to go under the radar with our real targets.

There's a growing trend in the welsh FA where referees are refusing to do DBS checks so that they can't do youth football. A referee in a U13 game was prevented from getting into his car at the weekend and parents were getting physical with him. No serious contact thankfully but (a) wtf, its an u13 game and (b) that's just going to transfer to the kids on the pitch

Yeah that was a really badly written post. I didn't mean that owners should be making more money - I couldn't give a damn about them, its more that unless you are a mega club it seems too difficult for a club to turn a profit and compete despite income levels increasing on an almost annual basis through new TV deals and commercial deals getting bigger. Clubs are basically a vehicle to take cash from us (wither directly through the turnstyles or indirectly through rip off TV subscriptions) and pass them to players and agents. Any money from transfer fees just gets swallowed up as the player you buy to replace one you sold inevitably ends up being more expensive. Basically, imo removing FFP only benefits 2 sets of people - players and agents
