We have only got one defender who we can comfortably give the ball too. Nothing can be built from or supported from the back unless Colocinni does it. We need two full backs who can competently work the length of the pitch on either flank before we can begin to look a proper side. Young Ferguson needs to start if he is fit with Santon on the right. That would be a start if Ashley won't spend.

This is actually an excellent idea under the circumstances. Chris Sutton did this and Dion Dublin also with great success. I think it is easier for a skilfull front man to make the transition back rather than a centre back to go forward.
