You should sign this guy.

I saw this and it got me thinking about how few YTs have got a kick for yous this season...I didnt think any had played at all (I checked and saw the only one is Lua Lua is the only one, 11 mins vs Bolton). Given the chronic underperformance of some, the incarceration of others, the injuries, and the being african...you've got to do more than that? Surely? What does a Newcastle YT have to do to get a kick? -
Chelsea - Rags final please.

His British bias brought in Hottiger, Albert, Asprilla, and Ginola last time that I can think of, I'm sure he will have done the same at other clubs. Ya...he bought a few more than that when he was here... http://www.purelymancity.com/wp-content/Keegansforeignsignings.jpg Plus 2 more that you may or may not have heard of. Also his captains included Benarbia, Schmiechel and Distin.

Why would Dunne leave Man City for a lesser club? There I said it. For the same reason Owen, Duff, Geremi, Martins, Smith etc did? To play regular first team football? Slight flaw in your thinking there.
-
Pinning your hopes on him isn't right....however, he should have a chance. Give him a few games to see if he's better than whats there. If he is, he is, no matter how old or experienced he is.
-
Hart had a season in league 2....Krul is having a season in the SPL...Krul will be more experienced at the start of next season than Hart was at the beginning of this.

Has Mido run over Gary Lineker's dog? They're absolutely mauling him.

If you're good enough you're old enough iyam. Agreed. Got to pick your best players no matter their age or the reputation of their competitors. This is coming from a supporter of a club that has the youngest #1 goalie in the league and an established international picking splinters out of his arse.

His goal record is poor for a player with so much ability.

MCFC under 16 season tickets are £95. For an Adults its 4 or 5 hundred depending on whereabouts in the ground the seat is...I think its good value in comparison to that London but I dont really think its fair considering the clubs are getting more and more money from elsewhere...
-
Nah, I don't think so. His #2 was Arthur Cox for a good while, but he retired a little bit before KK left. Stuart Pearce as well obviously. Derek Fazackerley, he's still here with Sven Fitness coach (AKA guy who put the cones out before the game) was a columbian guy called Juan Carlos Osario, he's head coach of Chicago Fire now I think. I cant think of anyone else major. edit...gk coach. Peter Bonetti.

Did I hear Arsenal fans singing Benjani a little while back...?
-
That's not actually true. Thus far, O'Neill has spent very little money. If you looked at the net spend of clubs last season, I bet Villa are in the bottom 7 or 8. Bottom 19... http://www.purelymancity.com/wp-content/5yearspendingtablefeb08.jpg Different story this season tho... http://www.purelymancity.com/wp-content/0708Premierleaguetransf.jpg

Owen is hopeless at pelanties...?

MCFC U18: P20 W16 D3 L1. Top of our section with most goals scored and fewest conceeded. And we're up against Liverpool, Everton, and the Rags...who we did 5-0 at the mini-swamp last week. Pretty impressive. :parky: Curiousity killed the cat...NUFC U18 P22 W5 D4 L13....no wonder Carr still gets a game. I just saw this post...two weeks old but its just got quoted so I noticed it... I think you are right. There are good players at home (A lot of our academy graduates came to City from other clubs when they were 14 or so). However, the big problem you have is the competition. If a NE kid has a choice where to go he isnt going to a place with no recent track record of bringing players thru, they'll go to Boro.

Rivaldo for me was the reason they won at 2002, shame he didn't get the same amount of credit Ronaldo got. A lot of that has to with that ridiculous dive....against Turkey was it? Where he went down holding his face after the ball him in the thigh or something like that. Hard to make a hero out of that.

I know, that's why i said "or developing, at least" get them in, work on them. He's still miles from any sort of finished product, and very young, but we can make him better. He may be very raw but, as you say, he is still very young. I've seem him play maybe half a dozen times, mainly with the England kids and always looked to be one of the brighter sparks in the team. I know we were trying to get him as well but we got our own back when Spurs signed Dean Parrett, who was very much on your radar. It's all well and good having a successful Academy but there also has to be the desire to promote from the youth/development squads rather than go out and spend another couple of million on another Johnny Foreigner. Spurs traditionally have (though what they have brought through has been generally poor), Villa have and obviously the scum up the road, but generally speaking, I think there is a tendency to look abroad , presumably in the search for instant results. Anyway, I should be having a look at your kids next week as they visit us tomorrow week. It should be a good game, it was good in Brum earlier in the season when we lost 2-1. I never got to go in the end (never went to Derby either) but Spurs got revenge winning 2-1 in a cracking game by all accounts. Villa were by far the better in the first half, but by the end Spurs were good value for the win, making it 9 successive wins and 13 out of 15 going back to the beginning of October. A lot of credit is going to Alex Inglethorpe who is Head Coach for the Academy, though Comolli ought to get some recognition for giving him the quality of players to work with. Perhaps more pleasing is that we've got 2 players who'll be joining the first year of the Academy who had been destined to join the scum up the road but didn't think they would have a great future there as they're English! Spurs have got Port Vale on Wednesday in the Youth Cup, Chelsea await the winners in the semi-final. I'm hoping for a Spurs/Villa final, they would be well matched. Got to get past Port Vale first though!! Port Vale 1 Spurs 0 ............................ FFS though I did half guess that! Inglethorpe out. Youth Cup doesnt mean owt....only YC game Ive been to best player on the pitch was Boro reject Andrew Davies...and thats only cos he was the biggest/strongest and won everything in the air. Dont think football at that level is a results business at all when games can be swung on a physical factor that just isnt there when the same kids play against grown men. Success at youth level is measured in graduates, not sales or tin pots.... That said....COYB. Got Plymouth in the Quarter final.

The thing with diving vs a cynical hack....the hacker gets caught and invariably gets a booking....wheras the divers get away with it...its not quite the same. The one that annoys me is the blocking of runners on attacking set pieces....its invariably a foul but the ref would need a million pairs of eyes to spot it all.

Ya...was against Compostela (Not the best name for a football team...kind of like Nutella but made of....). Long time ago...I think they're non-league now. Great goal tho. YouTube classic. The defenders pulling his shirt might as well have been water skiiing. Football from another planet.

Best? Yes. (Yes, better than Zidane...) Last? No. Figo? Rui Costa? Theres life in the old dogs yet! (Youre a similar age to me by the sound of it. Jeez we're old. ) Ya...even if he retired tomorrow it still wouldnt feel final. Its been over for a while.
