  1. Hopefully it stays that way when the going is not so good. I've said it time and time again, if people want to be negative, sing whatever before/after the game or at half time when the players aren't on the pitch. And for the record, there was at least one 'get out of our club' chant from Lv7 on Saturday but it appeared to be the same weak voiced few that seemed to start it last year around (towards the right of the old singing section as you look down to the pitch). However, unlike last year where pretty much the entire corner sang it as soon as it was started, very few people around them joined in it very quickly died out. I don't think personal views have massively changed towards him but people are starting to look at the bigger picture with regards to the wellbeing of the club.

    Leon Best

Tiote is one of our quickest players, he just eats up the ground when he's closing players down, especially now he's back in top gear. All at the same time whilst doing his strange 'backwards running' thing.
  3. When you're worth whatever he is worth, what is a £5k chip? Its like me playing with a £5 chip - it may be a costly gamble but it'll be a buzz if if comes off. Unfortunately too many people because they don't see where NUFC ends, the private Mike Ashley starts and how NUFC/SD accounts are seperate.
  4. What a role model! Although I can't help but think funny boy Alan Smith is taking the piss thanks to the reaction of Carver, Pardew, Colo, Saylor and Jonas. What a joke®
  5. If the groundsman's claim was right, wouldn't it be this? http://img35.imageshack.us/img35/9681/sjpc.png Uploaded with ImageShack.us
  6. ToonUltra, I can't help but not read your posts as the whole thread is basically you biting at people who are making very valid points. You could do yourself a favour and read then absorb the points other people are making - many of whom are in support of the vocal support and/or safe standing areas. Going to your point about people making note of seat numbers etc. The people in the area have obviously showed concerns hence the letters being sent out and information for newcomers (and by this I mean people who were not at the first home game and not necessarily people moved from L7) on the seats in the corner. The standers have received warnings rather than immediate actions. Don't get me wrong, as a very vocal supporter at away games, I wish the home experience was just as good and that the removal of the singing section is annoying. However, had you moved down to the corner in Level 4, I personally would have been affected. I, and have done for many years, go to the game with my 60+yr old dad - I'm 23. I would have been very happy to stand in return for a better atmosphere but I know my Dad and others around him, wouldn't and couldn't. Is this fair? Ok you may be the new generations of supporters but these people, who have probably had their fair share of being involuntary moved around the ground in their time supporting the club, have stuck with the club in much darker times and not in so many words, made sure it is here for you to support. I'm not saying these people have better rights but please don't piss them off. Obviously, and reluctantly, you are new people in someonelses patch and problems are going to occur due to the different match experiences required. In an ideal world, this wouldn't have happened. Level 7 was a huge success and out of it has grown the young supporters area and a much needed improvement in atmosphere in SJP. However it has also led to some supporters thinking they are above others (including ground regulations). I know the lads who were behind both L7 and the failed L4 idea and they have always intended to work alongside fellow supporters to ensure that all they bring to the game is an increase in atmosphere. At the moment we are seeing conflict and people arguing between themselves rather than a united twelve man. Just a quick thought that has worked for us both in game-by-game and season long scenarios, but have you suggested swapping seats with people in the affected area so that i) they are not being blocked by standers in the mainly standing areas and ii) you are not blocking people behind you in the mainly seated areas? Comprimises needed to be made by both parties but at the moment both are bitching about the other without meeting in the middle. Now take a breath, have a cuppa, even have a kitkat and try to absorb some of the stuff being said. As I say, many people support you in the desire for a more supportive SJP, but quite frankly you're appearing a bit of a tit on here.
  7. This has no bearing on what we are talking about. The leazes corner did not get closed due to persistent standing. The club done this to expand the family section and the away section. That was the excuse they give. As far as your argument goes Hoppaz, it is way off the mark in terms of what we are talking about with regards to standing in a football match however, i do not lack respect for anyone apart from a guessable few. If a person asked me to sit from within the ground, i.e. if i was preventing them rom seeing the game then i would sit, no problem. However, im not getting any complaints nor am i getting nagged by the club. In this case, i stand. If i sat however i wouldnt see the game myself. The difference is, i dont go whinging on about it. If people want stuff doing about it, take seat numbers and report it via letter to the club...i dont think arguing on a messageboard with myself is really going to prevent 500 people from standing. So that clearly lacks the message to supporters that those of you in L7 done this to yourselves. In that case they aren't doing enough then right? Not whining on eh? Ironic stuff
  8. Can't wait for this. Just watched the 4-4 game again on sky+ and I'm proper geared up for it now. Justin Lockwood - "BOOM, BOOM, Cheik Cheik the room" Just got to get through a few hours at work tomorrow morning then its a few 'welcome back football'/pre game pints.
  9. I don't believe we have a segregation webbing watch. I've honestly read it all now haha
  10. Got Asprilla 11 on mine and it looks great, just make sure the 11 lines up with the stripes otherwise it looks shite.
  11. As much of a fan I am of him and regard him as one of the best players of the squad in recent seasons, I have lost patience with him. He has dragged us on since Christmas and has clearly not had his head and heart altogether when playing. Frustrating that he is leaving for Liverpool and, like Carroll, we'll have to watch him on MotD wearing the red shite each weekend no doubt having a lot of success. I have a feeling his move will spark a domino effect of moves, not just at NUFC but at several other clubs. Just look at Torres's move to Chelsea allowing Carroll to move to Liverpool then ...... well lets just hope that with the bit of time we have left, we actually bring in at least one new replacement. Even the most diehard of fan knew this was on the cards so even though its frustrating, lets just keep the focus on Saturday and gain points that are more than up for grabs. A lose yes but I'm still confident!
  12. Annoyingly I have a spare ticket in L4 of the SJH stand to shift. PM if interested.

    Season Tickets

I was in the box office earlier and heard the bint next to me say they'd all be sent out (she kept reinforcing the sending out had nothing to do with the club) either on Friday or at the very latest yesterday. People should have received them by Wednesday or Thursday. It doesn;t leave much time to resolve problems but I guess thats where the magic of a smartcard/chip comes into play.
  14. Just seen Manure's second goal. Pretty nice tbh
  15. Watching the highlights on ITV from the Charity Shield. I know it eneded 3-2 but was it all foul, foul, foul or did some football actually take place? Listening to the radio on the way back from work, they were milking it as a great advert for football. From what I've seen its anything but!
  16. Will the FA pick up the bill for the league two teams who will need to start using the technology ? Thats part of the reason behind the delay in the tehnolgies introduction. Although its very annoying when the decision goes against you, the number of times that it is needed is extremely low (compared to bad challenges, offsides etc). Annoyingly the companies with the technology know that if they are the chosen company, they are dominant and can pretty much charge whatever they want. This is not viable in many leagues, let alone those outside of the top league in each country. Unlike Tennis and Cricket, where the reviews are made on tv and therefore advertising can be added, an instant result would not give the company any visual advertising. In comparison to the use of technology, the two extra officials used in the UEFA cup can be copied right down to school football. Just a shame it didn't work.
  17. I know people who actually work at Hawk-Eye and the system they've produced works nicely but it still requires a person/people to accurately set up and test the system each matchday, press a button to run a program every time there is an incident and then press a button to send the results to the referee. Combined with the huge price they'd no doubt be asking (similar technologies have emerged in recent years and Hawk-Eye could soon be pushed out of both cricket and tennis so they've got to watch their backs), this is probably a relative weak option. The chip in ball technology seems the most viable to me personally but again this has problems. It works well in a fairly empty stadium but once you get thousands of people carrying items that interfere with the communication systems, the accuracy and reliabity drops. However, I'm not sure why it needs to be this complicated as the majority of these systems use devices in the posts that could easily have a flashing light near the goal. Obviously output is a concern for FIFA and what works best for the officials and supporters. Very few changes need to be made to the balls themselves as the 'chip' can be built into the inner layers of the ball material - electronic webbing could also be used. Radar type cameras that monitor the balls movements are very discreet and are actually used at the moment to record movements of players etc. Again it needs extensive setting up but the major problem would be the several cameras being blocked by players, similar to the officials eye line being blocked. Other problems include when the ball compresses down and reforms shape due a compact and cameras picking up second balls or alien items. Although I have a good understanding of the current systems, I'm no expert. However, every system will have their flaws and these need to be reduced or erased completely. Most of the systems work in theory but may not in a 50k packed stadium. For me, the 'chip' or electronic mesh in the ball in theory works the best and I guess a system extremely similar will be used - the performance of the ball can not be influenced simply to include the technology.
  18. Its less about the pitch invasion, more about the unrequired violence.
  19. I was at the game last night but was still pissed off when I got in the house last night to review it. As the video on www.nufc.nu shows, the majority of the support was great up until and even during the second goal celebrations. The vast majority who went on the pitch (similar numbers to Plymouth away 2 years ago) were well behaved and did it for a bit of a laugh. Most filtered back into the stands within the minute and returned to their orginal seats. Whilst I was on the pitch down at Plymouth celebrating, and knew people who went on yesterday, there was a line that was crossed with this 'jokey' celebration. However, there was at least one person we watched who went straight over to the main stand then off to the right to purely wind up their fans. For a friendly, or any type of game, this was a disgrace. The large collection of 17/18 year olds, if that, who were standing on the right hand side towards the corner flag then annoyed a lot of people by constantly walking out onto the pitch when the majority of original pitch invaders were back in the stands. These tits continued for about 5 minutes and were one of the main reasons why the game didn't restart immediately. Credit, despite causing a bit of fisty cuffs, goes to a couple of older fans who went down to the front and told them to get back on the pitch, stay in the stands and stop disgracing the club. As this was going on, the handful of Darlington fans who had come across the pitch chasing someone who had appeared to have stolen something, then squared up with away fans despite being about 2 foot infront of two watching stewards. 30 seconds passed before the first punch was thrown but this was the same guy who got dragged away and then walked down the touchline towards the far corner. The fans in the front row were verbally abusing him but it didn't really kick off until a couple of supporters spat at him near the halfway line. He obviously reacted aggressively and this sparked 10-15 thugs to start peppering him with kicks and punches, despite the guy being restrained by 3+ police. A fucking disgrace from 'football' fans! It pretty much died down after this but the atmosphere was killed and the day blackened. These are the guys who should be named, shamed and restricted from attending games again. I don't care if they are fellow supporters and/or if they give good vocal support, there is no room for people like this. I hope the club/Police act upon these individuals because I don't want to stand alongside them at games in the future. Credit goes to the majority of fans who remained in the stands and started booing those fans who disgraced the club last night. I havn't read any of the newspaper articles about it but I can bet they will not mention this. Credit also goes to Pardew and Carver for coming on and the bottle of the Darlington players for coming out and continuing the game. I was very close to walking out of the stadium to purely detach myself from such antics. I was ashamed to be associated with the club and left the ground after the full time whistle feeling like we'd lost a derby game. Having slept on it, I'm still angry and in a way I hope the FA punish the club. Although this may lead to reduced allocations for our travelling support this season, it will at least limit the amount of pissed up kids and idiots who can just turn up for a piss up. The club will always have their nutters and its an element that can not be removed completely, however, I do feel that with the help of the supporters, the numbers can be limited. The actions last night damaged the club more than the majority of actions made by Ashley and Co - some of the players looked stunned, some frightened and probably, and most importantly, any potential new signings now looking elsewhere. I hope you're proud of yourselves .... On a more positive note, the football was very promising and the new lads (plus the injured ones from last year) played very well together. I'm looking forward to the season starting and the window shutting. Lets hope the only stories between now and then are good ones! Rant over
  20. Their thread about the derbies is an interesting one. Quite a few seem to fear them hugely and would much rather see us play in the lower divisions than have a go at us each year - an underlining sense of running scared perhaps? Obviously I don't like to see them do well but I do want the derbies to happen every season, as for me personally, a season doesn't feel complete without the weeks of build up, shit talking, the atmosphere at the games and the feeling of either winning or drawing.
  21. Box office wouldn't/couldn't tell mebut she said there was more than enough available for the door. Apparently they can't do it unless there is a large quantity left. I guess they have to return them to the home club at some point instead of selling them within the box office and club shops (I'm guessing they'll be Darlo issued tickets not NUFC) - if it was a small quantity they must normally buy them and take a hit of not sold. On a different note, where do people suggest parking? I've not got my ticket yet so will be aiming to get down for 6-6:30.

Looks like an earring been pulled out Some sort of blood test given the title of the series, surely. yup article on the official website about what they're doing including regular blood taken from the ear why the ear I seem to recall from one of my lectures last year that its something to do with it being less contaminated than other parts of the body. I could be wrong.
