Aye am bracing myself like Taking a feather out of Freddy's book and spending the sponsor money instead of investing it for when we really need?

Maybe they just like watching David Craig standing around in the cold. And with it being around -4C, who doesn't enjoy that sight?

Knowing this club it'll be announced at a silly time in the early morning like one of the transfer last year (or the year before). For that, I was up earlier than normal for the morning delivery and casually checked .com out of habit.......and BOOM, we'd signed someone.
  6. I may be shot down here buuuuuut I thought he held the ball up well in the area between the penalty area and the half way line and had Cabaye been there to distribute the ball (when Shola was facing his own goal) out wide or over the top to Best, I think he'd get more plaudits. Its something that he seems to have grown in intelligence over the past 6 months or so. Saying that, I thought he was hopeless in the box due to his poor movement and sluggish attempts to challenge for the ball. Ok, he didn't come close to scoring but he put himself about without giving away those typical Shola fouls. Not a great individual performance but did his share in an overall bad team performance.
  7. Great rant! Quoted for the benefit of those people who didn't read the first page
  8. After winning today, we have the freedom to go out and play our football against both Fulham and Blackburn (albeit the cup game inbetween). The games when we've done best this season imo have been in games when we've not sat back and just saw a game out. Fulham and Blackburn need the points and we need to use this to our advantage - play the ball over/around/through their attacking midfield and attack their weaker defences. If we go out and allow them to play whilst trying to defend strong, I'd happily take a draw, but a win in both games is readily available if we take the game to them. Its time for Pardew to be brave and go for it! If we lose, we don't really lose ground, but if we win, well it'll only put us above where we should be.
  9. dannysimpson12 Danny Simpson I can confirm that @dembabafoot is the real account for Demba! Get followin him now tweeps! Big boy striker 3 minutes ago
  10. Thats my song that I started before the Wolves games I was getting a bit bored singing about Nolan (his version can come back for the derbys) and fancied a song that the whole stand could sing for minutes rather than a few rushed sentences. Never thought it would get anywhere near the length it has! Forgetting the result for a moment, L7 singing all 15 verses last night made my evening. And if anyone has lost count of Demba's goals since ramadan, a tidy reminder can be found at www.sinceramadan.com
  11. I was there for the Chelsea minutes applause a few weeks ago but was still struggling to sing the words to the first verse today. I ended up looking at 'Gary Speed - Legend' on the scoreboards in a world in my own whilst the rest was sang out, reflecting on the young memories I have of him. Weeks on and its still very emotional so well played to the Speed family for their attendence today, I hope the Geordie nation's tributes did them and him proud - Gary, you are, and will be, deeply missed!
  12. It was moved by the time I walked passed when I'd finished work earlier. Annoyingly it is kind of hidden in the gloom where the old ticket office used to be but there were still people adding things in the 10 minutes I was there, and I can imagine it'll grow and grow between now and kick off on Saturday. I didn't read them all, but there are some lovely messages left by people. Definately worth going out of your way for!
  13. I fucking hope so. As annoying as it is, it can wait. Same with any negativity that may come if we don't break Chelsea down and/or start to lose. I've said it all week, some things are bigger than football and this weekend, football comes second.
  14. The silence works perfectly for Rememberence Day weekend but having been at games where applauds have taken place, both have hit me. As people have mentioned, the majority of the crowd will have seen Speed play and the awkward feeling of clapping even though you don't really know the person won't be evident. When Bobby died, I was down at Ipswich and instead of remaining silent or applauding during the minute, many around me just sang his song - for me it was made even more special by not allowing the clapping to turn it into a sped up chant, whilst the unsettling echo to bounce around the ground made you appreciate the moment even more. The feeling I felt before that game, and during the half time tribute, will never leave me. Having watched the footage of the Swansea game yesterday and the image of people applauding alongside those in shocked silence, people should be allowed to remember him in their own way, albeit with a silence, applause or singing his name - i.e. no announcement of a minutes silence, no announcement of a minutes applause, just a minute to remember the tragic passing of a mate many didn't know personally.
  15. 'Sports Direct Arena', 'Mike Ashley' and 'You Must Be Dumb' all trending worldwide on Twitter - not sure if the third is connected btw.
  16. Yeah. As for us, i'm delighed we pissed off their 7 fans on the left as long as we did. Gutted we didnt win but we were weak. Annoyingly Blackburn do what Blackburn do best and thats sit back for the majority and poke in a goal against the run of play. The sooner they get relegated and have chicken tonight, the better
  17. What is our allocation for this? I'd imagine with it being a cup game we'd get the whole end but with them normally keeping the bit on the bottom right for their own fans and the seats under their giant crest banner (normally upstairs), it can't really be more than 4k. Normally its a cracking atmosphere but fingers crossed I don't get stuck with the many of underage mongs who get pissed up to the eyeballs then act the big guy infront of their mates. I've only just turned 24 and enjoy heading into the game with a few drinks inside my belly but these kids really do my head in sometimes.
  18. Still in the FIFA handbook. I thought they'd got rid of it at the beginning of last season. The ruling may still be there but instead of 6 seconds, like with the size of goalkeeper gloves and other things, its up to the referee as to what is sensible.
  19. ditto Best one in ages, which obviously isn't saying much. what was it? 'So Newcastle march on thanks to their new Frenchman, Cabaye'
  20. Was gonna post something similar to this, there's so many people at the match that know absolutely fuck all about the game, which us fine in itself, but detrimental when you're gonna jeer your own players. Fans are getting carried away already and the moaning was in over drive yesterday. I wasn't at the game yesterday but I get the feeling the 'fans' we lost when we got relegated have started to make a return. As it has already been said, too many are going expecting spankings and/or looking like the big man infront of their mates. People really need to take a step back and just look where we are - up in fourth, unbeaten, gaining a point/all 3 in games where we previously crumbled, witnessing a togetherness stretching from AP down to the academy and all the time whilst we're not firing on all fronts. There are always going to be weak areas (forgetting Obertan's confidence levels for this arguement, look at the stick Raylor and Simpson are getting despite having one of the tightest defences in the country) but we shouldn't be expecting. I agree a home game against Wigan is a game we should be winning but getting on players backs after a few misplaced balls? Pathetic. I'd hate to think what damage these 'supporters' would have done to the team and themselves had they been at either of the Wembley cup finals, either game in the Marseille/Manure semi final week, the day we were relegated at Villa, being beaten at Blackpool and being stuffed 3-0 to Derby in the Championship season etc. If they believe we have a right to be up in the top four and winning stuff, please politely fuck off to the likes of Liverpool/Spurs and allow the rest of us to take away whatever positives we individually go to the football for!
  21. Tbh you've not been able to do that at any point. Having taken flags and banners to home games before, the only place where we've been able to do that without bother is the wall below the glass on the side of the Leazes.
