  1. I can't believe SSN is running this as a story. Then again, I'm surprised noone has started staying 'Mikes even selling off the grass the tight git' or 'wait until its relayed and there is a big Sports Direct logo instead of the centre circle'. It really must be a slow news day!
  2. I went for Asprilla (and the smaller sized top) just because Ferdinand would have been too wide. They ended up printing it twice as the first time, the 11 was a good inch left of the stripes. Very happy with it and it feels really nice on. http://img534.imageshack.us/img534/5803/newtopm.jpg
  3. I'm caving into buying the new top but can't decide what to get on the back (currently between Ferdinand 10 and Luque 7, although Asprilla 11 is in with a shout if the 11 lines up with the go faster stripes) but does anyone know of anywhere in Newcastle/Metro Centre that will do the name and number printing individually? Chances are I'll buy it for the game on Sunday but may wait a bit before finalising the printing, as long as it won't leave me too much out of pocket. Also, with the tops bought from the shop it says the free ticket voucher is for a category C game. Who does this include?
  4. Nice to see most the squad come across at full time and properly thank the fans. I was right up at the top so didn't know how my 'black n white army' persistance throughout the game came across further down/pitch side but great effort by both players and fans alike. It may only be a draw but I'm a proud geordie tonight! Definately shut those Lancastershire wanky wanky wankys up
  5. Saw that on Great North Road this morning. Ne idea who it was like Was next to this at the lights on St James' Boulevard a few weeks ago. Pretty sure the reg was N1 UFC and it was being followed by a yellow Maserati on a normal plate. Silly fuckers kept speeding off the line at the lights but kept getting stuck at the next ones - even I managed to keep up to them in my Renault Scenic. Last seen heading straight over the central motorway towards Gosforth. Recognised neither drivers.
  6. Ok, I'll give you that. With lots of people boycotting many of MA's businesses including NUFC, saying I theoretically make him lots of money is probably not the most sensible thing to do. I'll be receiving PM death threats soon!
  7. Nope. He put an offer in to buy the whole thing but currently only owns around 30% (if that) I think.
  8. Answered a query from Malcolm Macdonald in the shop this morning. Who'd have thought Blacks in the Metro Centre was some kind of magnet for current and ex players.
  9. Tickets available to buy now (along with free bus passes) for supporters with over 60 loyalty points.
  10. This really winds me up, mainly because when they do it, I'm already pissed off with something about the match. I understand that they may be annoyed and frustrated with their own and the teams performance and just want to disappear but however bad the atmosphere is, the fans will have given up a full day and multiple days pay to attend. And in a kind of related note, and probably a pet hate of the players, thousands leaving as the injury time board is shown. In tight games, these last few minutes are vital (Wigan for example). Sometimes come full time, SJP feels like a very empty place.
  11. I sold AC a balaclava in the Metro Centre yesterday, obviously bit scared of getting cold when he goes out sledging with Kevin.
  12. Wind up merchants who support football teams but only when it suits them. One of my best mates from uni (a so called Blackburn fan) got a great reaction from me after the game last Wednesday. I was frustrated and wound up and couldn't resist giving him an earful before telling him to 'fuck off' and abruptly hanging up. Hes on the wind up again tonight but so far I haven't bitten. Unfortunately even if we beat them 10-0 at SJP, the tit won't give a toss and I can't get my revenge.
  13. Apparently signed a new 5 year contract - SSN

    Sports Direct

Its simply a publicity stunt to get the company name out there. It may look s**** and piss many people off, and even though it is placed on top of the roof out of sight bar one day a fortnight, it has gained both local and national news columns ... let alone 50+ pages on here. Its the same as Big Brother placing total fuckwits into the house or the judges picking people like Jedward on X-Factor, if you get people talking about it, your promotion has worked. This So lets just be docile and take it the rear from Ashley. No, but since the whole 'Sportsdirect@StJamesPark' thing was announced and the intial piss taking from the media subsided (including BBC, Sky and ITV refusing to call it by that), where have you heard it called anything but SJP apart from forum pages? Even the official site doesn't use it. The Gallowgate roof may have a new and questionable paint job but as the previous sponsorship from Newcastle Brown Ale showed, the Gallowgate will always be the Gallowgate, and SJP will always remain SJP. If Ashley had given the go ahead for a solid Sports Direct sign to be erected infront of the goal we were attacking, I'd be slightly more annoyed, but he hasn't. At the end of the day, paint on the roof is exactly that, simply paint on a roof.

  16. Time to sent some very smug text messages to my Chelsea 'supporting' mates .... GET IN!
  17. Get the fuck in there - great first half performance and although the second half wasn't great, thats a deserved 3 points. This bouce-back-ability is the spirit we've lack in many a season. Come on!!!!!
  18. 8 mins late getting back after half time and I almost choked on my blackcurrant squash ..... http://img808.imageshack.us/img808/4503/joke.png (the 0-5 meant number of corners)
  19. Why is the goal mouth infront of the Milburn?
  20. Something seriously wrong was and still is going on. For a club with one of the largest fan bases in the UK, regular high attendances and appeal for tv coverage, there should be no excuse. However, even with a rise in ticket prices to increase revenue, the price of players (both buying then salaries) is slowly killing the game and the sporting bodies need action before football is totally broken. Obviously money from European adventures increase club revenues but only 6/7 teams in England can have that privilage each season. It brings excitement and world class players to the top half of the table but debt and administration to those in the middle-bottom. As much as the club statement was down heartening, football is a broken sport and NUFC is not alone in its struggles. £30m seems a lot of money but in a way its managable. We only have to look at how its been reduced in the last 2 years to show how its being managed, despite our adventure in the Championship. If we need to cut back on spending, then I guarentee that almost two thirds of the PL will be as well, its just that we're one of the first to say it! It may just be NUFC hope but the future is brighter (ish).
  21. Let people write what they want to write. Like this season and even the season before, we'll go into the first game full of crap stories not worth the paper or webpages they're written on. But instead of breaking down, let us do the talking on the pitch and give them some real headlines to write. We did it against Manure (league favourites) at Old Trafford 2 years ago and then West Brom (again league favourites) at the Hawthorns last year. Annoyingly fans of other clubs, and I get loads because I go to uni away from Newcastle, read such things and believe they have a right to voice their thoughts on what Newcastle should do. I'm the one spending my weekends travelling to games, searching the net for links and radio streams when I can't get there and generally going out of my way to support the club. I can make my own mind up without externals telling me what to think!
  22. Great result and thats not taking into account 'the incident' that took up so much of the prematch talk. Pressure back on Forest and West Brom with games running out!!!
