  1. If needs must then let him feature, but I'd prefer if he didn't. How the idiot can make one major mistake after another and still fall back on a PL football career is beyond me, lucky sod.
  2. Due to moving away for a new job I wasn't at the game last night but watched in on SkyGo. I had a right rant on twitter about the support so I'm glad I'm not alone. The Saville chants, the Simpson chants, the your support is shit chants (remind me how many thousands tens of us were at the away game), constant anti Sunderland chants etc were far worse than the performance on the pitch. Now I'd rather be at a game with some atmosphere than deadly silence, West Ham for example, but combined with the mass booing at FT this was pathetic. I'm not sure whether they were just excited to be out on a school night but it really grated on me. Despite this, I have to say the atmosphere came across well. Mixed in with the shit, stupidly fast 10 second songs, there were durations of much better support. Home games are a difficult place to create anything, let alone in a game that was as bad as this, so credit to those in attendance. Support comes hand in hand with performances and quite understandably the support at home has been poor in the last month or so. However its not an issue just at home. I'm vocal at away games and I've noticed this season how poor it is becoming. 20 mins into the Sunderland game, we were leading 1-0, holding onto the ball and yet there was deadly silence. If it wasn't for the O'brien song in the second half to get everyone going again, the whole game would have been piss poor. More recently, Brugge away up in the corner was again quiet. Even before they scored two, everyone was just standing there in silence. I'm not expecting everyone to be jumping up and down shouting but a bit of 'toon toon, black and white army' to break the silence wouldn't go a miss. We're vocal in the pub, on the walk there and on the way home but at the game, very little.
  3. That was the biggest following I can ever remember them bringing. And yet they were still very quiet. I know our fans were again rubbish today but they got a victory at what is normally a very tough place to get anything. And they are the best fans in the World ..... Saying that, I did enjoy the "hes just a shit Andy Carroll" and our counter chant of "hes just a shit Ameobi".

    Ryan Taylor

And what is that? Outside the Stadium of Light last season after the 1-0 win he gestured the scoreline with his hands to angry Sunderland fans! Was class Wasn't it going in this season? They're getting off the bus. You're right Ah just found it, hero! Link? Newcastle players arriving - Sunderland v Newcastle 21st October 2012 What a bunch of strange facepalming folk. To think they only live down the road ...
  5. My views on a few of the talking points ... The big one, Colo's sending off. Whether he made contact or not it was a crazy rush of blood from our level headed captain and something he should be ashamed of. Saying that, I have a feeling that Suarez's comments to him one or two minutes beforehand had something to do with it (the camera zoomed in on Suarez after, I think, an offside decision or foul on Colo and you can clearly see him mouthing off to Colo despite being a metre away from the ref). Colo was flat for most of the game and frustration got the better of him. Suarez. Took the goal well but what a dick! He made a meal of everything and tried to drag other players down with him. Everything about him wound me up - the constant complaining, going down softly, faking injuries, his teeth, acting the 'innocent guy', demanding decisions etc. A couple of minutes after the sending off, in pretty much exactly the same position, Saylor cleverly won the ball and Suarez tried to drag him down to the floor whilst throwing himself down demanding a free kick. He'll be remembered and congratulated for the goal but that was only a small percentage of his game. Sterling, how he didn't get booked is beyond me. After his challenge, the ref was walking across ready to book him until 'Stevie G' stormed across and somehow changed his mind. As for his kicking out on Simpson, did Sky even mention it? We should make an example of it because imo there was no real difference between that and Colo's. A couple of their other players, I think the two who got subbed and "I have to hold onto every player because I'm too slow" Allen, did well to get away without bookings. The amount of times we got out of tight corners whilst being held and thrown about but not gaining free kicks was ridiculous. I could also complain about the placement of free kicks in relation to the foul... Our inability to string together simple passes in the middle of the park really punished us. Too many times the first touch was awful thus making the pass rushed and generally quite poor. When we got the passing right, we held onto the ball very well and made some great progress. Training this week should simply be 'keep ball' in an increasingly small area. Keeping in mind we'd had a week off, why were we being caught flat footed and off the pace? Generally though, we were unlucky with our injuries and despite leading, the point was a good one. Cisse looked a lot sharper, Sammy's running was brilliant, Gerrard didn't get the '600th game' goal he was obviously craving, we weathered a lot of pressure for long periods and it only took a 'goal of the season' (hahaha) to break us, we had good chances to take a second lead, their fans got a comical soaking, Cabaye's finish was quality...
  6. Just had a flashback to sometime in the first half. The ball goes out for a Newcastle throw in but for some reason the Sunderland player goes to retrieve the ball on our (the fans) right hand side. He bends down, goes to scoop it up and misses. He tries again, misses. Surely he couldn't do it again? You'd be wrong. In the end I think the ball boy had to pick it up and hand it to him.

For the people on the buses, did anyone see the bloke and his two lads standing in the field behind their glorified bath after the game? He was dressed in a yellow jacket and his sons (I'm guessing) both aged around 6 flicking the Vs and giving the wanker signs. Makes you so proud .....

  10. In the same way as the DVD we use to sign players? He could just send someone to the club shop and buy the 5-1 one.
  11. JD Sports now own Blacks so it won't be this
  12. It won't happen but Bog Brush deserves a ban for that deliberate hand/armball. In my eyes, its the same as an unseen horrendous challenge. The fact that a goal came directly from it makes it even worse. Seems the 'goal' decision the other night has levelled itself out already.
  13. For the goal to be given you need to be 100% sure. The conflicting reactions last night and today (even after super slow motions clips from along the line) showed that the 100% level was not reached and therefore the decision not to give the goal was correct. Other decisions may include a mixture of other factors but a ball crossing a line is a yes or no situation. Its not seeing it through black and white tinted glasses, its just how it is. On another note, I have to say the away support was class last night. It felt like it was almost a never ending mass of noise so hopefully it came across well on the tv. Going down for the game we asked ourselves why we were doing it, but afterwards we were glad we did. A fantastic evening!
  14. Getting rid of the handshakes means getting rid of the stupid handshake music and replacing it (resorting back) with the sight of the players running up the steps and onto the turf with Local Hero playing in the background. I miss those days!
  15. Put it another way. We havn't had to spill out cash on a new Krul, Coloccini, Taylor, Santon, Cabaye, Tiote (although some would argue we have), Gutierrez, Marveaux, Ben Arfa, Ba, Cisse, Ameobi etc. Its not like we've sold AC and had to spend money other clubs know we have. Plus you know the current players are absorbed in the team, club and city and more importantly are happy here. A team unit is worth more than any multi millionaire gamble imo.
  16. I reckon tonight will have a huge factor on any deals that may or may not be happening behind closed doors - European football vs non European football is a huge factor. Personally I think the window has been OK. We're building up a squad, albeit a bit inexperienced, that will aid with cup runs and injuries. I would have liked a couple of new faces (Debuchy and an additional striker now that Best and Lovely have moved on) but keeping our players yet again is a huge positive. If the window SLAMMED SHUT now, I wouldn't be fully confident of having a strong top 6 competitive squad, but I would be happy. Lets see what tomorrow brings!
  17. Found his level. Tbh we said/sang that down there before - 'Shola, hes got a brand new hip, hes got a brand new hip, hes got a brand new hip'
  18. Little kids kicking the back of your chair at games. Turned up today and within 30 seconds of sitting down the kid behind was already swinging her legs against the back of my chair. It was still before KO so I just leant forward. I stand up to clap the teams on and I see she is lying back on her own seat with her legs up on mine. Luckily she stands so by the time I sit back down I can sit fully back. 2 mins later she kicking the back again. I turn around to stare at the parents but they're foreign and do very little to stop her. She pretty much stops then stands up and starts jumping up and down, constantly hitting me. I turn round again to ask her to stop. She settles down for 5 mins then starts again, this time with screaming/crying. I lean forward and remain like that until HT. This included 20 mins of listening to a loud Nintendo DS. Ended up moving at HT to the SE corner where there were plenty of empty seats. Normally asking the parents solves it but it didn't today. I'm 6 foot 5 so barely fit in the seats to begin with, let alone moving forward in my chair to avoid turning around and having a proper go at a kid.
  19. Jonas casually walking along and up to SJP
  20. What is this version of the national anthem all about? I was just about to make a comment how welcmoed it is to not hear some bint making a performance about it, then that plays. Horrible!

    Season Tickets

For the season ticket holders who renewed, is the new season stated in your profile on nufc.co.uk? I sent the direct debit form in towards the end of May (it would have arrived in plenty of time before the deadline) but I have had no confirmation, nor does it show in my profile. Was just wondering if this was the norm for more people or if my renewal hasn't gone through.
  22. What happens if you lose it in say the FA Cup final in the dying minutes when you score but it isn't allowed and you needed that goal to win but instead you lose on penalties, next year though your in the 3rd round of the FA Cup and you are cruising 4-0 up and you get a goal given to you that never crossed the line to make it 5-0 with only minutes left to play. Now would you consider that balancing itself out? Don't get me wrong, decisions in different games can have major differences in outcomes. Having looked at the different technologies (my degree was partly in this field) I have a good understanding of how the different solutions work. The only problem is FIFA/UEFA/FA want a system that works both in the top tournaments and also in your Sunday leagues. The extra officials was the only sensible suggestion and has already proved that it doesn't work - not only tonight, but also the pen that never was in the Ireland game, the pen that never was in the Denmark game and the numerous decision in the Europa this year. It simply hasn't worked. A dedicated system for stating whether a ball is out of play or not requires many staff to config, sustain and monitor and is not appropriate for the lower leagues. HawkEye for example needs 2+ people for each tennis court where the technology is being used. Apply this to the PL and thats suddenly 40 people each weekend, a huge financial cost for an outcome that is generally quite rare. That is where I feel 50/50 about it. It would be great for tournaments and finals (it would be fair for both teams competing on that particular day) but anything beyond that and it becomes too expensive. Its like India, I think, deciding not to use the technology in cricket.
  23. The commentators said it themselves, 'you win some, you lose some'. As much as I want goal/touch line technology introduced (and I draw the line at that), its part of football and it gives us one more thing to talk about.
  24. I reckon it will be uncovered. For example, Uefa refer to the Emirates as Arsenal stadium. I know this isn't Uefa but the thinking should be along the same lines. It was more a matter for the Oympics (forgot to put that in the original post).
