We scored as many direct free kick goals this season as Southampton though. We scored 12 goals total from set pieces in 136 set plays. Southampton scored 14 from 151. Just really struggle to see any meaningful improvement he would bring to the table.

I don't disagree that James is, at the moment at least, probably better than the others. Saying that he's better than them "by an absolute country mile" and that they are "nowhere near" James though... Don't agree with that at all. They are all better than each other in something, but overall I'd say James is marginally ahead of his competition.

I think signing for the same club his father played for is a nice story. Certainly better than him joining any of the other realistic suitors. Now he just needs to score a hattrick against Man Utd and slag off Roy Keane in his post match interview to give the saga a good ending.
