BeIN, Fox, ESPN and everybody else just show the games sky chooses to televise. Beyond that we're stuck with several seconds of goal highlights. Foxtel just offers shitloads of sport channels as far as I can tell. Can't see any mention of exclusive Championship coverage.

I liked Moyes a lot while he was at Everton. Although consistently rigid, his tactics and game plan often exploited the opposition's weaknesses. At the time I rated him as one of the best in England. Succeeding Ferguson would be a challenge for any manager but Moyes failed spectacularly at Man U. Might be wrong but I think he persisted with the same everton deep counter-attacking 4-2-3-1 from day one until he got sacked. He wasted half the budget on Fellaini, who he couldn't even fit into his tactic. He isolated influential players and staff very quickly and it was obvious the players played without any confidence. By all accounts his tenure at Sociedad was even worse. Once again Moyes didn't even attempt to change his ways in order to succeed. Can't find the link but there was a particularly scathing article from an English journalist(?) living in San Sebastian. I remember that he was on Goals on Sunday a couple of days after getting sacked. Laughing about it, denying that he failed in any way backed by impeccable LMA bullshit repertoire and the two clowns in the studio. He might be a good fit for the mackems. Even remote competitiveness will grant him legendary status there. On RTG, they are still idolising Allardyce and trying to convince themselves that he's their friend. Nevermind f***ing off the whole pre-season, leaving before the end of his last game and not saying a word about Sunderland since then. Like Allardyce, Moyes probably sees the mackems as a way to get back into the PL spotlight and eventually an easy opportunity to claim his 3-year wages for several months' work.

Tbh Will Hughes is very Colback-like. Except he's not terrified of carrying the ball
-
It was a simple back pass by Anita tbf. Even without fouling the striker, Sels attempted to catch it afterwards, which would've been an indirect free kick. Friendly or not, such moments of madness are not an encouraging sign for a keeper. Game wasn't even played on astroturf ffs.

Did Allardyce really fuck off before the end of their game? Pahaha

Before everything turned to blur, you could make out Shelvey on the field. As before - playing within himself. Always focused on how to kick the ball in the most audacious way, attack tempo and team mates' runs come second, if at all. One-touch half-volley with the outside of the foot to return the ball to Colback (as always hiding behind two opposition players) while the left half of the pitch had three of our players and literally none of the opposition. He's a midfield Cisse basically, except he's non-existing off the ball and of course immobile as fuck. There's a lot of potential in his partnership with Colback, the other deep-lying playFaker.. potential to destroy our season by January, even Rafa's tenure and the future of the club. It's vital that these two are removed from the starting line up. And hopefully some proper football manager can offer us money for Jack Colback. There's no danger of that with Shelvey and his rumoured absurd wage. The best we can hope for is that somebody panics and loans him in a desperate deadline move.

At first, I wasn't impressed we're being linked with him. But after reading up a bit, Blackburn and Scottish fans seem to rate him as a very steady and reliable defender. We still lack height and power in the team so hopefully he'll be an asset, not only in defending but in offensive set-pieces as well.
-
His bones are broken in multiple places. It's a clean break alright. At least it's not one of them pesky fractures aye..
-
We should get a good fee from Liverpool. Hopefully this goes ahead.
-
Aye, good comparison I remember him from Mitro's compilations. Tbh, we lack flair and "unpredictability" in our attack. I'm sure Benitez will look to correct that. He knows that (if everything goes as it should) the majority of our games are likely to be against deeper, more compact defence lines. Whether it's by raw pace, supreme technical ability or genuine unpredictability, we need more creativity to break down teams that defend well.
-
Young lad Sterry is also primarily a CB isn't he? Although he's listed as a RB here and there. Rafa might rate him, he's about the only player from our reserves who has been called to train with the senior players.

General NUFC stuff: club crest to be changed (Official)

Very interesting.. We're practising pressing patterns in a 4-4-2. I said earlier that our transfers seem to indicate we'll try 4-4-2 as our base formation this year. If the video quality was higher, you could almost draw conclusions on where Rafa sees certain players' position and that.. -
Bielsa has left? Already?

I've seen him a couple of times playing on the right for Inter. Seems to have regressed a lot. Looks a lot slower and he doesn't even dribble the same way anymore. Always liked him while he was with us but he would need an extended run in the team to rediscover some form as he has played about 10 games in 2 years.

I have a life friend who is a huge La Coruna fan and follows La Liga closely. He described Gamez as a very steady, defensive fullback. Limited offensively and not very fast but with good work rate. He's also known for his long throw-ins apparently.

From what I've seen of Ritchie, he will be an important asset. Just a shame that it seems to be at the expense of Townsend. Ritchie has that awesome left-footed shooting/crossing technique. We've lacked that in our set pieces and general play for years. He is quite slow though. Especially for a winger in 4-2-3-1. As we also seem to be signing Gayle, one can conclude that Rafa's going for 4-4-fucking-2.
-
Aye, I'm not expecting many familiar names in this transfer window. Tbh, when I try to second-guess what kind of players Rafa might bring I'd always think of the colossal quantity of frustrating, limited players he signed and persisted with at Liverpool. f***ers like N'Gog, Le Tallec, Sinama-Pongole, El Zhar, Pennant, Voronin, Babel.. On the other hand, he signed some super-exciting players for Napoli (although in Naples transfers are probably the responsibility of the directors / De Laurentis ). Either way, I have full confidence that whoever he brings will be coached and trained properly.

Euro 2016 trouble - Russia handed suspended disqualification by UEFA
junkhead replied to bowlingcrofty's topic in Football
I know it probably sounds like a bad case of paranoia to yous, but I have little doubt that some of the Russian 'fans' are acting directly on Kremlin orders. Putin has a long history of using nationalist movements, far-right dickheads, football hooligans for his guerrilla war against the West. These people are literally paid to go to France and fight. Like they were paid to murder people in Ukraine. Still can't get my head around the West's continued tolerance towards Russia. They're openly leading a war against Europe, yet Russia is still treated like a part of Europe? Kremlin is spending billions on training para-military organisations and anti-EU propaganda throughout Eastern Europe. In my country (Bulgaria), Russian commandos train hundreds of brain-dead wasters (unofficially of course). UEFA members.. give me a break. And don't get me started on hosting the World Cup. Every single FIFA commissioner who voted for that should be investigated and thrown to jailllll!!!1` -
Always liked little Shane. His performances for us deserved more chances but Pardewww
