What’s the other sign we’re switching to between Andy Cole (same tune)?
-
Ffs the one game I let myself sleep in for first half. Then we scored fourth while I’m flicking through catching up on the first three. Desperate for a fifth
-
Aye -there'll still be the same controversies when it's borderline, but it'll reduce the amount VAR can intervene and stop goals, so I'm for it.

Started for Scotland yesterday, not aware of him getting injured

Went to Pacific FC v Atlético Ottowa ( ) a month or so ago in the Canadian Premier League. Pacific are the local team here in Victoria BC. Decent like, just a few thousand there but in a small stadium so that atmosphere wans't too bad. They're actually Canadian PL champions (obviously with limited meaning given the best play in the MLS). A couple of weeks ago I went to Seattle Sounders v Houston Dynamo. I'd been to a few Chicago Fire games and this definitely had a much better atmosphere and more like I was at a match in Europe. It's still has some of the cringey American sports stuff obviously, but it wasn't just that it was louder and better attended, it just felt more like the fans were focused on the match more and had their hearts in it more. Chatting about Obafemi Martins with my seat neighbour. I thought I'd posted this, but went to a San Antonio FC game (v Memphis) a bit less than a year ago. USL (second tier in US).

Two assists tonight for Scotland. Both of Dyke's goals were Fraser corners straight onto his head.

Picture of us in 1952 v Fulham, holding a minute's silence for King George IV From this article https://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2022/sep/18/fa-forgot-footballs-community-role-in-fear-of-getting-royal-response-wrong?CMP=share_btn_tw&fbclid=IwAR2Jqa1Ugpofo1zAtS_-Tu4lgBwz2s8SuzRKVwDeKz6exZEERC7m3TgSvdA

Yeah I mean the only team that finished above us in 7-10th last season that's had a better start than us, despite our complaints, is Brighton - and they've just lost their highly rated manager. Whoever comes 7th is going to have a fair amount of wobbles and bad runs.
-
Just occurred to me that some of the younger or newer fans may never have heard about the Steve Watson throw-in trick. I'm a bit too young to have seen him doing it originally in a competitive game, but I saw him do it in Peter Beardsley's testimonial.
-
I predicted 8th, and still think that's a good shout. But I thought we had a chance of sneaking 6th, which I don't see much prospect of now. (both due to our form and the fact ManU and Arsenal look to be decent)

Don't get booing every poor performance. Should be reserved for expressing opposition to management etc at dire times imo, not when trying to build something positive.
-
Shit, but booing ffs.
-
It would've been crass to win at a time like this. A draw was the most mournful result for both teams.

I fuckin knew someone as soon as I posted it

Bruno off, Murphy on, fans clapping the queen, what a shit 70th minute

There's been some beautiful little passes here.

Newcastle United vs. Bournemouth: 17/09/2022 @ 3pm (No UK TV)
Superior Acuña replied to Johnny's topic in Football
Nervous. It's not a massive game like, but fail to win and there's the potential for things to start getting a bit tetchy with so long since a win (not relegation worries like, just pressure) -

This isn't really the thread for it, but we seem to be passed that, but: It seems a bit mad that 'the left' get shit all the time (occasionally justified, very often not) for condemning offensive piss taking, being spoil sports etc, 'chill out' all that, and now we're enjoying a good joyful laugh and piss take about the circus surrounding a hereditary head of state, people dressed as playing cards etc, the left gets blamed for piss taking, 'sneering' etc. Chill out I say, let us have a laugh! people shouldn't get offended so easily. (I also just don't buy this is just the far left or anything. My dad - former soldier, basically anti-politician, almost voted for Brexit - has spent the past week taking the piss and saying the country's gone mad) -

It's also the first time in 70 years a new unelected head of state has been appointed. The only 'right' time is a time that the press and royal can easily ignore it... I'm uneasy with the concept of 'being proud to be British' or any nationality because what does it even mean - but if anything makes me proud, it's the world seeing people protesting and just taking the piss, cutting through the absurdity of this nonsense. -

Makes sense to me. I mean I'd be all for ignoring the whole queen thing, but I know there'd be stick for that, and stick for doing a display without the queen. And obviously I'd hate if there was a display for the queen. This seems a good way of largely keeping out of it, maybe pissing people off a bit but noone's on any side is going to be massively pissed off (well...) -
Martin Dúbravka (now playing for Burnley)
Superior Acuña replied to Figures 1-0 Football's topic in Football
Surely Dubravka's absence is just something to do with him being newly there and he'll move into being no.2 soon -
Signed for Reading again.
