In the last few years (post Robson) I'd probably choose the Alkmaar game, particularly the first half. Martins was brilliant that game.

Aye, but what about Newcastle - neither player has really replicated their previous form in black and white stripes (not the only culprits, I know) - has Barton's semi-impressive end to 07/08 really overshone Bowyer's goals - especially under the Souness era. Well for Newcastle its hard to judge as Bowyer had longer, I think Barton did well at the end of last season but I wouldnt say its really enough to say he was better than Bowyer. I think that Barton has the ability to give us more than Bowyer did however.

Going by what I've seen of both players, I would say at his best for Leeds, Bowyer was a better footballer.

Unfortunately I agree with you. Probably one of my favourite players when playing. As someone above said, he should have achieved so much more.

Not really who else commands a starting place regularly?, Butt, Beye, Faye possibly I will be pretty pissed off if Butt commands a regular starting place come the start of the season!

Didnt he just say he appears very versatile and could probably even play off the striker? Stuff does get taken too literally sometimes, but at the same time seeing as our squad is so small its not suprising that he's entertaining the idea of versatility in his players.

I'd probably go with LB, CB, DM, AM if it was just four as I think we could do alright with the strikers we've got. I would ideally like to see another target man type striker come in though.

I will remain content until either a) the beginning of August comes and we havent pulled in a couple of significant signings in which case I will become concerned and anxious or b) we sign a few more players soon at which point (depending on the quality of the player) I will become Confident. I cant see myself talkin shit about the board and transfer policies etc until at the very least after the transfer window has shut and we can guage how good our players actually are because lets face it none of us really know how good most of our players can be at the moment.

I've always been very suprised at how much stick Parker got from us. His first season was probably the only real positive under Souness in that he was absolutely immense and player of the season by a mile imo. I'll always remember that performance he stuck in against Arsenal where he had to be dragged off after literally running himself into the ground. If Roeder had used him in the same way he was used in his first season he might be still here now.

I hate to say, but if fit (massive if), a back four of Bale, King, Woodgate, and Hutton is a pretty impressive back line.

Of course I'll give him a chance. But I'd loved to have seen the reaction had Souness or Roeder made this signing. Did either Souness or Roeder do anything to warrent having as much faith put in them as Keegan?

The only game I think I recall him putting in a decent shift was against Arsenal when he played a target man role. I think it was Arsenal anyway.....

Probably the only player in our squad that warrents having the amount of criticism directed at him as he gets. Was absolutely terrible last season.
