Word up. Sadly Hughton is out the door and we desperately need to stay up.

Totally, I wouldn't hold it against any player who fucked off... though I'd rather they did it at the end of the season than in Jan. -

I've said it on here before, Collymore occasionally gets it right. -
Very sensible post that. If NUFC is bigger than Ashley, then it will be here long after he's fucked off - we need that to be in the best condition possible. That's without arguing over whether it's even possible to force him out (which I don't think it is, at least not with anything we could realistically do).
-
Are all managers not approached about jobs that are occupied though? The alternative is to wait until after you've sacked the current guy, which you could argue is even worse.
-
Villain from a James Bond film?
-
Pardew is only 'part of the problem' in that he's a symptom of Ashley's running of the club. If he hadn't taken the job, we could well have ended up with an even shitter manager.
-
As long as Ashley has his deathgrip around NUFC, this is probably the best outcome we can hope for.
-
So, does asking for Pardew to be given a fair chance equate to being an Ashley arselicker? Even asking that question puts you dangerously close to his ringpiece.
-
He's been in some unfortunate situations with regards to club ownership situations as well, at both West Ham and Southampton. Which either makes him well-equipped for working with Mike Ashley, or mad for taking on another mental owner.
-
I'm hoping he's learned from the way he acted off the pitch in the past. If he has, then we might have an alright manager on our hands (albeit one who is probably a bit of a puppet of our shite owner).
-
I don't really think where they met Pardew or how long they've been thinking of appointing him is that relevant TBH. If they hadn't met him before, would it be better? If they'd fired Hughton on a whim without a plan for a replacement, would that be a better way to do it? There's a lot of stuff to be worked up about, but that isn't one of them.
-
All I would say is that it pointless to worry about whether or not Ashley and Llambias are 'friends' with Alan Pardew. If they are, then at least he might have half a chance of working with them. Despite the fact we hate their very beings, if Ashley and Llambias are going to be here for a while then we will benefit in a small way from having a manager who can bear the sight of them.
-
Pardew is just a function of Mike Ashley's incompetence and bizarre view on how to run a football club. The best we can hope for is that he defies the odds and the circumstances to help NUFC finish in a safe position in the league, for as many seasons as it takes for Ashley to find a buyer. I don't hate Pardew, but I hate the fact he's been appointed.
-
Yeah, rightly or wrongly Pardew will take his share of the flak. Agree with everything KK says in that piece though, I just wish Mike Ashley would realise he'll never make his money back, cut his losses and sell for a loss.
-
? WHU are going to bid for him apparently. IMO, I dont think he will be off, just yet anyway. Wouldn't be surprised if he's reunited with Hughton there by the end of the season. I'd be surprised to see Hughton go from working under Mike Ashley to working under Gold and O'Sullivan.
-
It's not the fact of Pardew that's the problem really, it's what the whole thing reveals about Ashley's intentions and motivation.
-
Nobody knows what to do any more, the BBC quote their own journalists in stories now FFS, saying they 'understand' something has happened. It's sheer madness.
-
I've said it before, but Twitter has a lot to answer for.
-
Argh, it's the 'we're planning to sell all our decent players' argument again!
-
Best OP I've ever seen TBH.
-
He is much more likely to resign before being sacked, when he finds conditions under Ashley and Llambias unworkable.
