Same.

The terrifying thing is that there are worse moments to come.

I agree with the 'support the club through thick and thin' attitude in principle, but I can't help feeling like jacking it in at this moment. The thing is the absence of hope, Ashley has finally shut down any possibility I had to feel optimistic about NUFC. There just doesn't seem to be any chance of improvement the way he wants to run the club.

The Allardyce appointment was pretty bad for me, that was when I first realised relegation was a real possibility for us. This feels worse at the moment... mainly because of how positive everything was feeling under Hughton, and that fact it reveals finally that there is absolutely no hope for us under Mike Ashley.

I think there are enough fans to ensure 30k under pretty much any circumstances. Similar to Leeds.

Every one of our decent players will be on their phones to their agents at this moment, and I wouldn't blame them one bit.

I feel for you mate. For someone with so much experience supporting the toon, do you think this is significant enough to get worked up over? Or is it just one of those blips along the way of supporting the club? Think I can guess the answer like! I've seen 23 managers (or temporary) in 50 years. I've watched some of the most turgid players ever to wear the B&W's in Billy Whitehurst, Des Hamilton,Tony Cunningham, Joe Cornwell, Viv Busby, Billy Askew just to name a few. I've still managed to say to myself "things will get better" but i've now reached a stage where i no longer feel that will happen. Yes you're probably right, i am getting worked up, but for once i cannot see the light at the end of the tunnel. Ashley, just like Thatcher, when you snuff it eventually, i'll pop along to the pub and have myself a nice southern comfort in celebration!!!! Wasn't saying you shouldn't get worked up, just wanted to get the perspective of someone who had seen a bit more of the history. FWIW I feel the same way, even though I'm spoilt to have only been around since Keegan Mk1.

Judas! Actually, I think Ashley owns about 20% of JD as well.
-
Things is, Ashley's job description and management style rules out any respectable manager completely.
-
Exactly It really is pathetic and shameful the way Hughton has been treated... the idea that Ashley has been waiting for an excuse to do this and bring in Pardew is sickening.
-
I'm not going on boxing day anymore, was really looking forward to it as well.

At the moment it feels like it is, nothing feels the same anymore. The club was just about getting back to something respectable, something you could actually get behind, and Ashley has gone and fucked it up again. As I said in another thread, maybe this is the time in life when I realise football isn't worth bothering with in the same way... not sure at the moment.

If Ashley wants to run the club like a business then that's his decision - we need to start acting like customers instead of fans, meaning fucking the whole thing off until he's gone.
-
I'm happy to admit I thought they were learning from their mistakes. I'll never trust my own judgement again TBH.
-
I hope he does well, but all signs suggest he won't, so I'm fucking annoyed right now.
-
Couldn't have put it better myself.
-
Ashley actually has quite a good record of giving customers value for money, my football shorts and shinpads were a bargain. Maybe he'll be giving 70% of everything next season.

"I can see it now, Champions of League Two and a wage bill of £100k a year."

I actually love Jose, I mean literally. The best player and the nicest guy we've had at SJP for ages. (Except CH obviously )

Even so, two bad signings is hardly a sackable offence, every manager signs duds. If they think they dwelled too long before appointing Shearer, and that's why we went down, all that proves is that they don't know what they're talking about.
-
I'm not buying any tickets for the forseeable future, just feel like I can't face being anywhere near NUFC at the moment.
-
Only a desperate or unproven manager would sign up to that, against all the current market conditions and expectations of a job like this. We just need to keep our fingers crossed it's the latter, and he turns out to be good.
