Wor Flags: visit worflags.org.uk/donate to support future displays

Only criticism I'd have tonight is that the flags got put away very early, before the players had taken their training tops off and properly ran out. I know you can't really control that. -

What would that even mean? -
FWIW when he gave the ball away for their goal, Joelinton got it and gave it away a second time. Didn't really clock that at the time because I was so angry with Murphy
-
I know I'm a broken record on this, but most questions about the Howe era have very simple explanations.
-
FWIW he managed the game well except for the pen, the VVD barge and the end. I realise those are quite important.
-
I like to know how many games in a season have absolutely no additional time on the end. I'm guessing almost none.
-
I know this is smugness, but we never needed to freak out so much about him. Same as Hall, he was too good to end up a bad signing. He's still less than half way through his first season with us, effectively.
-
He's overall not a PL-quality player IMO, maybe for a promoted team they could accept his mistakes. I feel the same about Longstaff. But you can't dislike either of them because they play to their max and love the club. But ideally they shouldn't be playing.
-
He'd have another 50 appearances if Steve Bruce wasn't a football dinosaur.
-
He wasn't just sitting in 6 either, they were rotating quite well. His little foot-to-foot and shot was class. I think he's most intelligent player in the squad, great reading of the game and awareness of space.
-
I forgot Southampton were even in the league.
-
The original path of the ball is to Pope's right, it ends up going in over his left shoulder. Would have been saved. Just watched it on YouTube at 0.25 speed, so I'm not prontonising.

My vision is perfect thank you.
-
Hilarious how much his foot flexed when he hit that shot. What a strike.
-
Yeah, I was right behind it, looked an impossible angle so knew it must’ve come off Burn to go in the near post. He was hitting it across.
-
Mugged Mac Allister off several times, always good to see.
-
Significant deflection on Jones goal as well.
-
I thought both sets of fans did well. The bar is obviously different when you're comparing away and home fans. Away fans are self-selecting for the hardcore, especially on a weeknight in Newcastle, they're bound to be consistently louder than the home crowd.
-
You can't think like that about fixtures IMO, they're all individual. People who worry about "well we didn't beat Palace, so now we have to beat Liverpool" are tying themselves in knots for no reason. It's not how football games work.
-
Who would he be pressured by?
-
Ah yeah, it's a pen. I thought they could have had one as well, at the Leazes when somebody stepped on the back of Diaz's leg (I think). I was worried about VAR for that.
-
SJP sounds completely different depending on where you're sitting. I thought the Liverpool fans were probably the loudest away crowd this season, but I was sitting in the Leazes.
-
FWIW I thought he had a mixed game but his ceiling is so high and his desire is so strong that you just have to persevere with him. You won't get better materials to work with, we just have to make sure he's working on things and not getting distracted.
-
But he also did brilliantly to get a quick shot away which would have surprised the keeper. True it wasn't in the corner.
