  1. Maybe it is where you sit (?) but i never heard the Barnsley lot once! Sitting about 100 yards from the Ultras was great. Never paused for breath. Well done It put some smiles on some faces and created a great atmosphere. Shame about the stewards reaction at one point but nice to see everyone took note around and supported you til they disapeared. Would of been awful without the Ultras tonight atmospher-wise. This.
  2. A very sad day. Even worse - there were 2 of them. Actually always thought Monty "existed" but was kept out of sight in the family area.
  3. Haha, you've got a class manager and i'd be confident watford will be going back up if i was a fan I'm confident, but our board is semi-suicidal. There were calls of sack the manager after Saturday's result, and this won't help put the razors away. Further delay to the Leicester game, a player collapsed in the dressing room. Oooh, another non Newcastle fan. I don't know of another board where there are so many supporters of other teams. That is a good thing. PS: Ashley Young .... *thumbs up* Agree. Love to hear the views of supporters from other clubs.
  4. I am irritated that I have yet to see one accurate report coming from the press, Boro or the player himself. However, a minority of Newcastle fans were guilty of racist chants. These only started after Mido's gestures when he scored. The fans had been baiting him before that (with some unpleasant stuff it has to be said ie. the paedo stuff) but I don't recall any racist stuff before that. He made gestures other than telling the crowd to shush and once it was onvious he was being wound up, the racist stuff started. Not entirely sure myself if it was racist but it was deplorable nonetheless. I cannot believe some of the excuses put forward about why people chose to chant such stuff as I am sure there was no such thought process applied and a judgement made that it was OK. It would have been a few idiots and others joining in within thinking about what it has been said. I am just worried about the outcome of this all. As I said it did happen but not as being reported. I am surprised also at .com's response.
  5. Showing my age here but my favourite game is West Brom away in the cup run of 1974. Memories are a bit vague as I was only a kid but I know we played really well but it was the atmosphere of that day that I have never forgotten. I was with my Dad and I remember that even he got carried away with the emotion of it all. There must have been 20,000+ Geordies in the ground - they seemed to be everywhere. Match of the Day made a big fuss about our support and closed the programme with the scenes from the terraces.
  6. I don't want to get rid of any of our players at present. As Owen, Shola and Viduka were not available for most of the pre-season so there has been little opportunity to experiment and find out what works best. Unfortunately, we are going to have work this out as the season progresses. Don't get all the Owen bashing. I think he is an intelligent player who is desperately short of games. I am sure that he will suddenly explode into life at some point. I don't perceive it to be an apparent lack of interest on the pitch as for me, he is the same for England. With only 4 days left in the transfer window, we need to be looking at players coming in rather than leaving. We are still short in numbers and the new injuries (despite what people think of those players) has just highlighted that. We desperately need a right back plus another central defender. We also need a creative midfielder. In pre-season, we had Barton, Solano, Dyer and Zoggy playing there and on the whole, the midfield looked good. I thought Solano linked up really well with Geremi but the latter has seemed a bit lost to me since the season started. Again, I feel it will be a case of trial and error for the next few months until it all clicks and I am sure it will at some point.

    Adriano

An Italian football expert was talking about this on the radio today. He said it would be very high risk as he enjoys the life outside football too much and has been warned repeatedly by Inter who are just desperate to get rid. If a manager could get him back to the form he showed in previous years, he would be an asset but he doubted that would be the case. In view of us having managed to get rid of all the bad eggs in the dressing room, I would think this is the kind of signing that we definitely do not need.
  8. I was embarrassed by what some of our fans were singing. It was a sizeable minority but no-one around me was singing along. I resent Southgate implying that all 3000 fans were singing such things. I hate the paedo stuff as well but the "racist" stuff did not start until after he scored and it became apparent that the he was being wound up by the paedo taunts.
  9. Can't understand the negativity towards the lad. I saw a comment yesterday about him not being as good as Cacapa - well of course he isn't - he is 21 and still learning whilst Cacapa is in his 30s and has captained a successful team for a number of years. Considering all the problems over the years with our defence, it is amazing that we have a young lad who is considered to have the potential to play for England. He may not be there yet but at least we are now getting in the experienced defenders and creating a good environment from which he can learn and hopefully develop. If there has been no further improvement in a couple of years then maybe that will be the time to consider selling. It is also very telling that the clubs who have been reportedly interested in him in the last couple of years are all better than us ie. Liverpool, Chelsea, Man Utd and Spurs. If that is true, that tells me that they think we have a got a player with great potentlal here and we should do all we can to keep him.
  10. Sounds right. Boro are obsessed with Newcastle and we don't give a toss about them. There is a whole county between us and them and the only times I have ever visited Middlesbrough is for football. The place means nothing to me. Their sole ambition as a club is to finish higher than Newcastle.
  11. Absolutely not. Allardyce is looking to buy more central defenders so why would he sell one especially when there are only a few days left in the transfer window.
  12. But who would honestly buy him - especially with his wages? The top 4 are obviously not interested. Maybe City now they have money. Other than that the only club who could afford him are West Ham and I don't think for one minute he would go there.
  13. Interesting how Butt has become more outspoken in recent months. Towards the end of last season, he was talking about players who did not want to play for the club. He was also very positive about Allardyce on his appointment. I don't think Butt would say anything unless he meant it so it is reassuring to hear him saying how much better things are.
  14. Why is it that since the takeover, we have been constantly linked with being taken over again? This has not happened with any other clubs so why us. Everyone knows the that Spurs have been sorting themselves for a while now so that the club can be sold at some point. Ashley must have known this when he bought Newcastle seeing as he is such good mates with one of the board members there. If it is true though, I don't think it is right that you can sell one club and then buy another one immediately. He would know our business inside out and that could be used against us if he bought Spurs.
  15. What I don't understand is that if Mike Ashley is such good friends with Paul Kemsley, and the latter now wants him to buy Spurs, why didn't he suggest to Ashley to hold fire for a few months. It just doesn't make sense to me that you would buy a football club only to sell it on a couple of months later. However, I too think there is "no smoke without fire". What other newly taken over club has suddenly been plagued by rumours of takeovers within such a short space of time.
  16. It was "If The Kids Are United" by Sham 69.
  17. Just don't know what to make of this at all if it is indeed true. And unless Ashley has let it be known that he wants to sell, what is Shearer doing getting involved in a takeover of the club, just a few weeks into the new ownership. Maybe he wants to bring Shepherd back as Chairman! Hope these Icelandic people are not like the Biscuitman otherwise we will quickly return to being a laughing stock again. Why can't be just have period of stability for once without all these rumours constantly undermining the club.
  18. I heard on the radio this evening someone say that after last week's game, that Bellamy had thrown his shirt on the floor in front of Curbishley and said that he was worse that Souness.
  19. I don't think he was ever given a chance and that he probably wasn't good enough but I do think once he had a run of games together towards the end of his last season here, he was gradually improving in each game. Before that he had only really been given a couple of minutes at the end of games and always looked off the pace. His willingness to chase seemingly lost balls and harrass defenders into errors meant that we scored a couple more goals and got penalties we would not have got otherwise.

    Kieron Dyer

Knee's Up Mother Brown mate. http://www.kumb.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=92081&start=520 some comments... "If this is true then Dyer is far from sh*t. I've got a feeling none of you will ever be happy no matter who we sign in this week and a bit. Dyer is a England international who can play on both wings, in the middle and just off the striker. He has pace to burn and is good at running at defenders. How can you he's sh*t? As for Elano how many times have you seen him play other than Saturday?" Always amused when other fans list the different positions Dyer can play when he only wants to play in centre midfield and if put on the wing will end up playing everywhere else but where he is supposed to be. Guess he may well behave himself to begin with to prove a point and will probably play really well but can't help but think that together with Bellamy, they will prove difficult for Curbishley to manage. Also find it ironic that after moaning about the Bentley Boys last season, that Curbs has decided that Dyer is the answer to his problems.
  21. Come on man, Nobby wouldn't leave us for another team in the Premiership if it wasn't for something serious. He's loved by all of us and he loves the club. I'll be gutted if he leaves. He's been such a brilliant player for us. Agreed Guess he won't be looking to move back to South America next year now if he finds the distance between Newcastle and London too great.
  22. Heard on the radio that Crouch wants to talk to Rafa about his future as he is now 4th choice striker. On a kind of vaguely related subject... In the Telegraph at the weekend, there was an article about the number of foreign players in each club's squad. They listed the number of players and the percentage of foreign ones. (I don't have the article so this is just from memory) It said that Liverpool had 45 players and Aston Villa had 20 (explains why Brummie is panicking so much). We had 31 which was around the average and Spurs had 34. I don't know how they have come up with the figures and I suppose the 45 for Liverpool includes all those foreign kids they keep buying and who are unlikely to feature but I was struck by the huge disparity in numbers.
  23. Even though Ferguson really rates Allardyce, I can't believe that he seriously believes we will come 4th.
  24. Nice to see that Mort has met with them at least. The lack of direct communication with supporters by the previous board was disgraceful IMO especially considering we are supposed to be the club's main asset.
  25. I think I still get more pleasure from watching Nobby play than almost any other NUFC player. His intelligence, vision, technique etc is all the more apparent because it has been so lacking in many of our other players recently. There is definitely a role for him within the squad. And what is it with West Ham's obsession with our players. No doubt they will be after Milner next week.
