League Cup 2nd Round - Newcastle unsurprisingly knocked out by Leicester

People never learn. A decade of playing too many sub standard players at once in the cup is the reason we get knocked out early every year. Only way to make the semis or final like we used to is play your best team. Anything other than a best 11 is asking to be knocked out early. Again. I'm not fussed like just saying, I would hate it if they got to the final under these circumstances as I couldn't go and definitely wouldn't be able to enjoy it Which people are you referring to? The head coaches and managers we've had over the years? The fans don't pick the team. -

Fast turn around for this game. Mass changes no doubt with the likes of Darlow, Shelvey, Willems, Manquillo, Fernandez, Clark, Muto, Ki and possibly Matty Longstaff in? -

I thought Atsu was really good. Put a lot of effort in and got the assist. Bruce's face looked like he'd gone 12 rounds with a heavy weight. -
Dropping 'F' bombs is Bruce's equivalent of Rafa's glasses in the pocket.
-
He never looks the healthiest. He'll probably keel over and the media will blame the Newcastle fans for driving him to it.

I know. I also don't think Ashley is a hero. I put: -

I wonder if the newly signed players have relegation clauses in their contracts. For the previous two relegations Charnley/Ashley were too arrogant/stupid to put relegation clauses in player contracts as they didn't entertain the possibility of relegation. It was then used as a reason why 'hero' Ashley had to put 'his own money' in to cover wages in the Championship. I call that paying for your own mistakes.

I know a lot of people are saying they want us to lose and get relegated in order to get rid of Ashley, and I can see the logic, but I find it very hard. When you meet friends from outside the area you end up feeling ashamed of your own club. It was on hold while Rafa was here because you could convince them he was turning things round. But Bruce...my God it's fucking embarrassing. You end up avoiding the topic of football altogether. Not just locals - I’ve started at a new school where all the kids want to talk about what football team I support. “Newcastle. I don’t want to talk about it.” They jeer when the Toon lose and don’t understand when I say I’m glad we lost. Doesn’t help that I’ve got a wallpaper on my work computer of Rafa and Jamaal, always up on the screen for the kids to mock. Probably should change that... Put those kids in detention. I assume they just 'support' the likes of Man City, Barcelona, etc?

Daniel Sturridge told his brother to bet on him signing for Seville (which earned Sturridge a 6 week ban (4 suspended) and a £75k fine from the FA for breaching betting rules). He's signing for Trabzonspor so maybe he doesn't like his brother? https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/49031533

Pretty sure I read Bruce say he's been promised Charnley and Ashley will be patient and support him. I think we'll be as good as relegated before they sack him (that's if they sack him even then). I can't imagine them replacing Bruce with an up and coming manager. We're doomed to PFM has-beens until Ashley sells NUFC.

It's the fault of the fans. Just as well the Norwich game was an away game. If it had been a home game we'd have lost 10 - 0 with 40K+ of our fans there.

It's going to be a real shit show. How unsurprising. I wonder how Mike Ashley, Lee Charnley and all their friends in the media will spin it after the fans are proved correct about Steve Bruce being a terrible appointment? I voted 10 when 10 was the highest option available. The poll should have been reset when someone added numbers up to 15.

After the last 2 seasons of slow transfer activity, next to zero net spend and no training ground improvements I don't blame Rafa for not wanting to sign up to another contract. Ashley will be judged on actions not words.

He's going to have to turn into a superstar for Mike Ashley to recover £40m in a year or two.

Don't forget to watch Mike Ashley's NUFC versus West Ham, 10am Saturday live on Sky Sports. -
The only time Mike Ashley's NUFC tries to compete with other clubs is when relegated down to the Championship. That's when he sells our Premiership level players and buys decent Championship players to go for promotion. The sale of the Premiership players covers the cost of the Championship players and partially covers the hit of losing out on the Premiership money. Rinse and repeat.
