  1. Whatever you may think of him, Mike Ashley does not want NUFC to get relegated. He won't be selling Carroll.
  2. http://www.journallive.co.uk/nufc/newcastle-united-news/2010/12/31/magpies-robbie-keane-pursuit-in-doubt-61634-27910959/
  3. http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/newcastle-united/nufc-news//tm_headline=robbie-keane-come-and-get-me-plea-to-toon%26method=full%26objectid=27907946%26siteid=72703-name_page.html If it was a loan I'd say yes. If it was to buy I can't see it happening. Around £6m for a 30 year old doesn't fit the clubs recruitment profile.
  4. http://www.journallive.co.uk/nufc/newcastle-united-news/2010/12/30/magpies-poised-to-sign-up-hatem-ben-arfa-61634-27906544/ £3.5m would be a bargain! I hope he's learning English during his recovery.
  5. We've only got one player on loan (Ben Arfa) so there should be plenty of scope to loan a few players from the likes of Man City. We can't be too precious about loaning players. As an example, Sunderland have two loan players in their usual first 11 (Onuoha and Welbeck). Our main goal is to stay up by any means necessary.
  6. I doubt the 25 game clause is written in a way that if he doesn't play 25 games we can't buy him and Marseille won't sell him to us.
  7. If this story is true (which I doubt) it's a shame for Liverpool that Newcastle have a clause already in place to buy Ben Arfa.
  8. Harper wouldn't have done that.* *In response to those who always said "Harper wouldn't have saved that" to any save Krul has ever made.
  9. Hamstring injury. Regarding Campbell: - http://www.sundaysun.co.uk/sport/newcastle-united/nufc-news/2010/12/26/tim-krul-is-the-no-1-choice-alan-pardew-79310-27882304/ Regarding Ranger: - http://www.journallive.co.uk/nufc/newcastle-united-news/2010/12/24/nile-ranger-needs-to-change-attitude-61634-27879854/
  10. He mentions the possibility of bringing in 1 or 2 players. They could even just be squad players he says: - http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/n/newcastle_united/9313486.stm I'm not too worried. In the Summer NUFC said it wouldn't be spending any money but we got Ben Arfa on loan (with a £5m buy clause), Tiote for £3.5m, Perch was £1m and Gosling and Campbell for free. We would never have "discovered" the likes of Carroll if it wasn't for NUFC's recent belt tightening ways. We'd have wanted to buy new strikers to replace Owen, Martins and Viduka. It gives the likes of Ranger a chance.
  11. Regarding the thread title, Leon Best recovered from his ankle ligament damage awhile ago.
  12. He's been shit till recently. So no thank you. I'd rather try to sign Seb Larsson and sing Ben Arfa on a permanent basis. Nobody is stopping you singing......sing to your hearts content, my friend. The novelty would soon wear off and it would quickly become tiresome and tedious if he sings Ben Arfa on a permanent basis.
  13. Without giving any credence to this 'story', Keane and Crouch would have to take a massive wage cut if they came to Newcastle. That's not going to happen for a start. I also believe that like most of us born and bred in the Newcastle area, Carroll would rather play for Newcastle than go to the likes of Tottenham or Chelsea.
  14. Is that Taylor sat next to Carroll? Good chance. One of my friends had his photo taken with Carroll, S.Taylor and Campbell when they visited the RVI. Carroll had his arm on Taylor's shoulder for the photo. Maybe Carroll didn't really break Taylor's jaw? If he did, Taylor is very forgiving.
  15. Our players did the Xmas hospital children's ward visits today. Carroll, Steve Taylor and Sol Campbell were at the RVI.
  16. http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/philmcnulty/2010/12/allardyce_deserved_better.html That's the second time in a week Phil McNulty has said that. He seems to be under the mistaken belief that Newcastle sacked Allardyce then got relegated the same season. Is he Allardyce's mate or something? Anyway, I seem to recall our fans singing "We're shit and we're sick of it!" in the weeks leading up to Allardyce's sack. Phil seems to forget we were the only team to lose to Derby.
  17. I'm glad (as much as it's possible at this point in time) that basically everyone in football agrees over this. Ashley is a cunt. The only problem is those fans agreeing with us then go on to say "I hope Newcastle get relegated now".
  18. Both well worth a listen if you haven't already: - Carver fury after Hughton dismissal http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/n/newcastle_united/9262221.stm Colin Calderwood shocked by Chris Hughton sacking http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/n/newcastle_united/9262152.stm
  19. Whoever comes in we've got no choice but to give him a chance. Newcastle staying up is the most important thing. Protesting about the crazy decision to sack Hughton won't help that. Mike Ashley's insane decisions can't be blamed on whoever the new manager is. I'm hoping the new manager has a long enough honeymoon period to keep us up!
  20. http://www.redcafe.net/f7/premier-league-thread-27-28-november-314914/index10.html#post8967896 Reading that thread turned my stomach. All those Man U scum calling all our players shit at the same time as hoping we don't lose to Chelsea.
  21. Unfortunately his contract runs until June 2012 according to NUFC.COM. Hopefully Sam Allardyce will buy Alan Smith again.
  22. Hopefully the Newcastle team will respond to this result in the same way the Sunderland team responded to their defeat by us. A bad day at the office. We have a reasonable first choice 11. If any of them get suspended or injured the replacements don't look up to the job.
  23. The first mention of Hughton's job being in any danger was by The Mail who have an axe to grind due to being banned from St. James' Park. All the other media run with it. I've never heard any fan saying Hughton should get the sack. Most of us are realistic. The home form hasn't been good but the away form has been. As for the cup, Arsenal beat Tottenham 4 - 0 and I'd argue Tottenham put a stronger side out than Newcastle did. I don't remember the media saying Redknapp will be sacked.
