  1. Terrible - Barton, Taylor, Smith Average - Beye, Faye, N'Zogbia, Butt, Duff, Milner, Owen, Harper Above average - Carroll I felt like leaving with the last 20 minutes remaining, but stayed and managed to witness the worst defending ever for Saha's goal.
  2. "We didn't go with a populist but there are times when clubs go for the fans' favourite but that doesn't mean he's the right man for the job." http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/s/southampton/7252338.stm
  3. Ngo Baheng played on the left against Man City, but did move the an attacking midfielder position in the second half. A few points to add about him imo: - He rarely uses his left foot. - He almost always passes the ball backwards. - His first touch is not great. - He has a decent pace.

Sciacaluga was no mate of mime, neither was Giaco but he does say hi when I see him Powder Monkey these days. Did he have a wife? was she a teacher as well? I had a Mrs Sciacaluga who taught at my primary school around '97 and I left before she did.
  5. Commentators mentioned that he was at the game, yes. He was indeed. He was at the Man City game as well, along with McDermott. At least he is showing an interest in the reserves unlike Souness when he was here.
  6. TEAM: Forster Morris Edgar Tozer Kadar Godsmark Doninger Marwood Troisi Donaldson Baheng Something like this I would imagine.
  7. no they didn't,they got better offers or preferred the set up elsewhere. Alan Irvine ran a rotten Acadmeny it was despised by most of the local boys clubs. Get yourself to a Wallsend Boys club function & have a chat with Mr Carrick or any of the other bods from other boys clubs. so they prefferred the set up elsewhere. different to saying the club is rotten. They prefferred elsewhere because Newcastle Youth System is/was rotten. Newcastle messed Walker about and he went to Middlesbrough instead.
  8. Option 2 because it is a late kick off on a Monday and is also on TV.
  9. Johnson looked off the pace and he didn't re-appear for the second half. Bojinov did ok, took his goal well and linked up with Mpenza well. His first touch was awful, tried a back heel, it hit off his knee and went out for a throw in . Geovanni ran the show for your side. Karl Moore impressed, but maybe is too slight for the Premiership. Caicedo is a diver, goes down too easily with slight contact, but has an extra burst of pace in the box to get past defenders. Gary Breen didn't impress and was often caught out at the back (his fault for the goal).
  10. Elaborate! Edgar looked more comfortable against Mpenza and Caicdeo than Tozer did, however he did put in a great last ditch tackle on Bojinov. Kadar handled Logan well and looked adapt at playing the ball around at the back and bringing it forward under pressure. Ngo Baheng had a poor first touch, but has a bit of pace on him. He played left wing for about 25 minutes in the second half, but rarely used his left foot and often had to play the ball backwards to get it out of his feet. Doninger had a poor game often losing the ball with stray passes. Carroll won almost every header against McDonald (similar build to Bramble) and Breen. He also had a few chances to score more than once! Breen was very poor for Man City, he scythed Carroll down in the first 20 minutes and it was his poor header which allowed Carroll to score. Ameobi was like a passenger in the game, strolling around and for a 26 year old he didn't stand out amongst the younger players. Lua Lua goes on great runs beating 3 or 4 players at a time, but for 70 minutes he offered nothing else. Troisi wasn't afraid to have a shot, but lacked any accuracy. Forster 6 Morris 6 Tozer 6 Edgar 8 Kadar 7 Ngo Baheng 7 Donniger 5 (McLaughlin) Troisi 6 Lua Lua 6 Ameobi 4 (Donaldson) Carroll 9
  11. Geovanni controlled the tempo of the game in the first half. Karl Moore looks a good technical player, but is very skinny and small. Caicedo continually dived and was booked for simulation. Bojinov took his goal well. Carroll ahead of Shola every time. Kadar looks impressive and played at left back. Tozer did ok, was outclassed by Edgar. Ngo Baheng looks a good player.
  12. When looking at both line ups I think it may be a comfortable win for City, but an entertaining game to watch. Hopefully Bojinov and Caicedo get a decent run out and we get to see the latest Newcastle recruits play.
  13. MCFC: Isaksson, Obeng, Garrido, Jihai, Breen, Johnson, Logan, Gomez, Mpenza, Caicedo, Moore. Subs: Bojinov, Martin, McDonald, Nimely-Tchuimeni, Daly. Monday's Chronicle carried quotes from reserve coach Adam Sadler to the effect that Emre would also feature. (.com)
  14. Momo Sissoko still managed to move to Juventus from Liverpool and play for Mali the day after, although he only came on the second half after the national coach was dissapointed it took so long to complete the deal and he left the Mali camp to do this.
  15. No room for tournament top scorer Sammy Eto'o? Is that your team? or an official thingy bob? Official one or the BBC one not sure. I got it from the BBC ACON part.
  16. Caf Best XI Essam Al-Hadari (Egypt) Geremi (Cameroon) Wael Gomaa (Egypt) Michael Essien (Ghana) Sulley Muntari (Ghana) Yaya Toure (Ivory Coast) Alexandre Song (Cameroon) Hosni Abd Rabou (Egypt) Mohamed Aboutrika (Egypt) Amr Zaky (Egypt) Manucho (Angola) Substitutes: Richard Kingson (Ghana) Hani Said (Egypt) Ahmed Fathi (Egypt) Frej Saber (Tunisia) Stephane Mbia (Cameroon) Didier Drogba (Ivory Coast) Kader Keita (Ivory Coast)
  17. I'm starting to act like a parrot now. Keegan was forced to pick Carr for a few weeks, Carr didn't do too bad in those games so it looks like a player coming back from injury was protected by using a player who hadn't done too bad while playing for the manager who picked him. You can hardly blame Keegan if those around him are giving him bad advice, he'll learn but will have to accept advice until he gains his own knowledge of those at his disposal, even then, hes still only got the players at the club. Yes but Enrique was fit enough to play for Spain's U21 side during the week so I don't believe that. Maybe he has suffered a reoccurence of his injury in that case?
  18. I think we will have to rely on the clubs below us not picking up points. Games against Sunderland, Reading, Birmingham and Fulham will be crucial (three of them being at home).
  19. Keegan would like to find a place for Beardsley at Newcastle and thinks he works well with young players.
  20. A few of the backroom staff have already gone, but Keegan is very much looking at the backroom staff.
  21. Terry Mac very much in his plans as he loves the club.
  22. Don't see the point in it when clubs already play 4 or 5 friendlies abroad in pre-season, so what will be different by having one league game added to the season for the overseas spectator when they can see a club more than once while on tour?
  23. Is there a major difference in opinion between season ticket holders and non-season ticket holders? Waiting for "Everyone hates non-season ticket holders" thread to appear...
