He'd also have an immense amount of contacts and also is a well respected bloke to players too, seeing as he's won it all with juve and is still about 40. Tbh I don't care anymore, I'd happily take Didier or Gerard right now altho I like the idea of Deschamps better

Aye, he really pisses me off. Hes a shit commentator who says the wrong things ALL the time and now hes seen by ITV as the voice of the fans or something. My mates dad used to play golf with him and apparently hes a right prick. Shut it bobby, go have a fuckin rest!

http://www.oddspreview.com/read/houllier-rejects-newcastle-job-150108 As of 6.10pm, Houllier has this evening been traded from 4.0 out to 12.0 with Betfair. Didier Deschamps was in from a staggering 1000 down to 3.0 this evening after unconfirmed reports from France suggesting that the former France international has already agreed a deal.

This thread needs to die, at least its title does..........seen quick video interviews of both of them and they look utterly clueless. Shearer looked annoyed at the idea but said some day I would and Keegan in his shellsuit wasn't bothered either. To even contemplate this partnership today is a joke. I'm guessing Gerard H will get the job as he actually has a good clue on how to manage and win things at a football club.

Some people have mentioned about his style of football here but as Mort points out in the job description release that they'd have to gear our football towards attacking so from the first day he'd know thats where we aim to be, so no need to worry so much. At least he knows what his employers are looking for and what the fans like to see, so he'd thus buying accordingly I'd imagine. Mike would back him completely.

I'd love to cut his head off with a shovel, i really would. Hahaa

I'd be very happy with Houllier and he's most likely one, if not the best candidate we can get. Speaks english, has loads of experience here and abroad, yes he made the odd bad signing but which manager hasn't? - plus with those said signings he won the european cup and other trophies too!! times have changed since back then and I'm sure with Lyon he made some quality signings! Get him in!

Aye true, I played football every night - a lot of times by myself against a wall as I lived further out of town then my mates but I practiced ALL the time. When I realised Kevin hadn't come knocking on my door then I realised maybe virtual club management was where my talent lied............to cut a long story short, Championship Manager ended my playing days and I was forced into early teen retirement.

The Championship/Football Manager series of games came out and therefore kids got sucked in and never came back...

I've been wondering, how is this phrase allowed to justisfy so many dodgy quotes you see in so many football headlines/articles/etc.. Surely you could make anything up and just put 'A club insider said today' or 'A source close to the individual' before it and that makes it ok to print. Isn't there some kind of stricter law that governs quotes and their usage? Obviously there will be but it seems writing so-called 'articles', usually on football transfers, means you can bend them however you like. For example, this is taken from this Guardian article today: http://football.guardian.co.uk/News_Story/0,,2240343,00.html?gusrc=rss&feed=5 A Newcastle source last night denied that Redknapp had ever been offered the post. "Harry Redknapp was never the only name in the frame," he said. "There is a presumption that he was first choice but there is a difference between a job interview and a job offer. We've spoken to more than one person and will be speaking to more people this week." The source added the club were "not narrowing it down to people from these shores". Cheers if you can clear it up for me as I've never been sure about how it works..

Same, haha. I'm checking footy sites daily for any news at the mo and its wearing me down. Whomever is chosen is going to get backed by Mike but it looks as if there'll be no new players in this window so I guess its summer spending only.
