If they started paying Neves money for the Chelsea cast offs then yes maybe you could get worried by it. It seems Chelsea are just trying to offload unwanted high earners and because Saudi has unlimited funds available they're quite happy to take them to give the Saudi league some credibility. Have they even stated that these Chelsea players are going for transfer fees rather than just offloading their contracts?

My point was that you’re not going to get ASM to have those level of goal outputs because he never has and hasn’t really shown that he’s capable. So basically Maddison is a massive upgrade on ASM, given that you feel they have the same defensive work ethic.

Would you be happy for ASM to have those goal outputs putting the level of defensive work in that he does?

He was 13th in the list of combined goal contributions (goals & assists) last season, I’m not sure what else he could do. Of our players only Wilson was higher then you come down to Almiron who had 6 less.

I doubt they’re paying a great fee for the Chelsea players, it’ll be a case of getting their salaries off the books.

I can remember a majority on here waxing lyrical about their signings last summer and going on about how much better their attacking players were than ours last season as well. They’re going to get a lot of money for Rice but once again they’ll need to spend it a lot better than they did on attacking players last summer. They’ve still got those Europa League games as well, they’ll be lucky to finish top half in my opinion.

I suppose they're looking at a sort of Brentford model in order to gain promotion. They're the only team I can think of recently who have been able to gain promotion in that way of buying young and them growing with the team with the odd big sale on the way. Like it's been said above it's a very difficult way to do it because you're constantly losing your best players and it's all about how good your recruitment is.

Aye I don't think he was bought for what he could do in the 18 months after his transfer it was definitely his long term potential.

Actually looking at it, the first 10 fixtures are set up pretty decent. After the tough 4 games the next 6 are all very winnable, plus we're arguably playing the best 2 teams in the league at the best time.

The Liverpool home game with be on TV on the August Bank Holiday weekend, I only hope it's not the Saturday early kick off.

Just some shit on Twitter. I'm not sure why some people get concerned a hard start to the season means at other times there's more favorable run of games. Injuries & suspensions are probably less likely at the beginning of the season so we could be going into those 3 'difficult' fixtures at full strength.
