What’s this crack about Wissa being 29 and Isak 26, they’re 28 & 25. There’s an over 80% chance that a footballers birthday will fall during the season, we can’t just start rounding everyone’s up.

Burnley are better off taking £35m from City than they would be taking £40m (20% owed to us) that’s why City can negotiate a lower fee. The ideal situation for Burnley all along has been that City just want to buy him back.

Is it not worth remembering that we’re a totally different proposition to the big 6 now than what we were back when we were signing Gordon. If we’re interested in a player now, as it’s shown with Trafford, Ekitike & Pedro it alerts the big 6 straight away & makes them think that they should also be interested. Chelsea’s transfer strategy is totally different from then as well, they can buy generally whoever they want to now & are probably buying some players just to stop them from going elsewhere. I reckon we would have a much harder time signing another Livramento or Hall now than we did back then simply because of the reputation that we’ve built & because other teams want to stop us. We can’t compete on wages either with them, you can’t tell me that if we’re interested in a player that their agent isn’t already thinking about who else they can alert in order to get a bigger payday for both them & their player.

Probably a case of Howe thinking it takes him out of the limelight when there’s all the chat going on. Give him a couple of days away from it.
