is it not possible that marlon can do the same as shola people were writing off shola at this level after his dismal time at stoke but people are jumping on his bandwagon now, surely people should give marlon a chance with us if he joins? i dont like his attitude, but i have no idea how well he would do in our team, any additions to our team that are temporary are more than welcomed. even if he scores 1 or 2 or whatever, we shouldn't forget that 1 more goal from anywhere last year probably would of saved us, same applies with our chance of promotion
  2. how come litterally no where else apart from this forum (and a couple of other forums) have no one else picked up on this rumour if we're all talking about it...why isnt it in the media im just as hopefull as everyone, im dying for this to be over and i want to belive thomo 100% - i just find it strange no one else is mentioning it
  3. did anyone see this article? sorry if posted http://www.arabianbusiness.com/563375-exclusive-iranian-tycoon-speaks-on-newcastle-utd-deal was alarmed when i read this part: "Mahjoob also said that one of his goals was to use Iranian players and coaches at Newcastle, and revealed that he has approached the ‘David Beckham of Iranian football', Ali Daei, with regards a coaching role at the club. “Ali Daei is a definite priority for coaching the Newcastle team for the first season,” he said. “Daei is one of my close friends and we have had short conversations together, although we haven’t had serious talks with regards to this. After we purchase the club we will talk with Daei in regards to his presence.” does he meen manager, or just coaching?

shearer has already said he thinks the squad is "very much unbalenced"..... i guess he's referring to the total lack of cover in some places, which have impacted other positions like on monday if we had a back up left back, duff wouldnt of played left back, and would of played on the wing, meaning guithre would of played in CM, that said it didnt matter on monday because they all played fine, duff did a great job against downing, and guithre ran himself into the ground, but on another day against a better team, maybe we would be exploited sheare will look to strenghten the gaps first i reckon, CB and an creative midfielder is the next prority and a striker providing the duke and owen leave
  5. if we win and hull lose on sat......we're pretty much safe it would meen there would be a 9 goal difference between us, meening they would have to win 5-0 and us to lose 4-0 on the last day fulham is huge game, very difficult aswell we are far from safe yet,but we have some hope now....and a little bit of confidence im still on a 5
  6. if we can get a good first half under our belt and finish with a little confidence, then we might be able to get something, however concede one or two and we'l be rock bottom and itl be a question of how many we could do with some luck, dodgy penelty or something to give us a hold on the game and some confidence and belief glad barton is back, someone fresh in the middle of the park, maybe with some new ideas attacking wise
  7. we need to get some decent possession owen and carrol have hardly had the ball, and thats the midfields fault the midfield keep giving the ball away cheaply, some realy rubbish balls dinked down the line to no one i dont think we need to change the strikers, it doesnt matter who you have up there if they dont get the ball
  8. i think we'll need some help from a referee decision to help us ameobi has more presnce pysically against stoke defenders than oba does, who is hot and cold, that said i cant see ameobi scoring wonder why oba isnt on the bench...hmmm glad danny starts
  9. Success in the premier league is squad based Frankly, Shola isnt anything amazing, very average at best, but the lad trys, and we have got to stop letting players go, we are going through transfer windows by letting players go first, then trying to replace them, which is very difficult and risky. we need players like shola to play in cup games, or when we are desperate, and that makes he more valuable when u need to rest players and stuff Give shola a new contract, for how long i dont know, but we need to start building a sqaud and stop letting players go without replacing them
  10. i think you have to stick with ameobi and martins the big man little man combo is working alrite, even though ameobi isnt very good, he has put some decent shifts past couple of games, hes an awkward player and even though hes not a great finisher, has no pace, poor first touch, it works well having him playing with owen or martins with this more direct football were playing, you cant have two small strikers playing against big centerbacks, you need someone to battle in the air and hold it up, something ameobi does ok you cant drop either after a good performance on monday night
  11. How can you say villa-esque spending is a reasonable and "decent amount of money" villa were in the top 3 spending clubs in europe! i think resonable amount of money to invest each window is between 10 - 20 million ,including selling players, the past windows our net spending has been just above 0
  12. "The League Managers Association can confirm that talks to resolve several issues were held today between Kevin Keegan and Mike Ashley of Newcastle United Football Club. However, the discussion failed to reach a satisfactory conclusion. For further information please contact: Richard Bevan, LMA Chief Executive, 07860 474 767 " someone have any free minutes? give him a bell
  13. If keegan was to go, id really lose belief in this board, especially MA i was underwhelmed by the transfer activity, but thought we did some decent business without spending much, but we really needed a couple more top quality players we could of done with a higher profile player to get people excited at the club, and create an air of optimism, im not talking the level of robinho or berbatov, but simply a higher profile than guithre i do not understand how they expect to create a top 8 club, or even top 6 further down the line, with the policy they are currently keeping to,
  14. I know alot of people are pleased to see milner gone, and that we've got 12million, but i think alot are missing the point in order to be a succesful team in the premier league, you need depth, you need milners in your squad, people who work hard look at aston villa, they hardly NEED him ,they are just adding to the depth of the team, adding to other young players such as ashley young ok he might not of been a fantastic player jimmy, but if we are going to challenge the top 8 at least, you need people like him in your squad, 12million or not, as keegan said the funding was already there even if he didnt leave, i belive this to be a poor decision as it leaves us further bare bones and putting more pressure to sign a replacement so yeah, we got more than hes probebly valued, but at this level if you want to hit the top 8, top 6 etc, i think you really need to keep hold of players like milner
  15. i really hope we can get two or maybe three signings in, just in the positions keegan said ,midfield, defense and up top however, as each day ticks on, im finding it hard to imagine that we will be succesful i really think everton must be joking when moyes says they will try to sign upto 7 players before the deadline.....how they will try push them through i have no idea fingers crossed smiths one of them
  16. to be honest this is a huge opertunity for players like smith to get going, good perforamnce and a goal under his belt it would boost his confidence he so despretely needs if he has a poor game i really think theres no hope its a perfect opertunity for him to step up to the plate fingers crossed - i just want anyone in black and white to succeed
  17. i got the mail today and there was no mention of saviola..... im from carlisle so if they do regionalise it then we should have the same paper sounds like a joke at the suns article claiming owen wants 140,000
  18. i dont' think people realise footballers come and go at this age at carlisle united they regulary sign 17 to 18 year old players, who have had trails elsewear and then let them go eventually never to be seen again in football its all about being in the right place at the right time, you can get a lucky break...carson at leeds (when they were in dire financial states) gave a youth keeper a chance and look where that led the lad... england place this guy must have a litlle bit of talent, but who's to say 12 - 6 motnhs time hes just let go never to be seen again like alot of footballers but whose to say he doenst get a chance from some random/freak incident and end up doing well...who knows!

    Alan Smith

If that was aimed at my post, read it again and point out where I compared Nugent and Bellamy as players im not really aiming it at anyone/thing... ive just skim read the past couple of pages and seen the word bellamy and nugent mentioned..don't take it serious man! maybe i should of re-phrased it but anyway refering to what you said in your post, i don't think he would be a bellamy catalyst simply because of the attitude and nature is very different in both players
  20. I was so lucky to meet him when i bought his biography, had a little chat, real gent i read the biography twice, you feel you know him well after reading it a brillaint insight to him and history of football im not saying my goodbyes yet...as he's still here but i hope, and pretty sure he will make the most of it

    Alan Smith

can't believe people are comparing nugent to bellamy, two very different players with different attitudes and ability we need someone who is hardworking and hungry, as a previous poster said, someone who is young would fit this bill as they have something to prove tbh, if smith leaves, i think we will struggle to get any strikers in as i don't think they were prepared for it, and its taken us ages to get some defenders in and that was top of the bill with andy johnson leaving, it gives everton abit more money to sign both moutinho and a little left over possibly for a backup striker...aka smith lets hope!
  22. the strikers :owen, martins, smith, carrol and ameobi if we dont buy anyone before man utd game KK will play oba and owen smith is sub and i rather will give chance to carrol then ameobi This is what scares me, as we do have a number of "strikers" on the books. I fear we will only bring another one in if someone comes in for both Alan Smith and Shola. Quite frightening. I'm quite looking forward to see this look again http://cache.viewimages.com/xc/51911107.jpg?v=1&c=ViewImages&k=2&d=17A4AD9FDB9CF19390335F8FA9CA92A64CCBC918532AD2848BC3F87336C851A1 haha love it
  23. not being funny, but im suprsied we got this far with collocini, weve finished in the lower half of the table for the past couple of season, no europe i think we have to just go for it when u hear the classic old roeder line " i hoping to get two or three in before the season or deadline" coming from keegan, its not encouraging im sure once the two weeks goes to one week, and then we havent tied many up people will start panicing we need 3 quality players..fact
  24. To a extent i agree with the topic starter the two signings we have signed, could of been kept secret by any manager as they have very very low profile (even danny was in the press two weeks before he signed) but you will get links to the higher quality, higher reputation players because they have a bigger profile....and there just simply isnt any links...its all very quiet my dad allways said with Woodgates transfer back in the day under SBR... that there was too many rumours for something not to be happening...and he was correct he signed this summer upto so far remind me of roeders...where you really cant see where our next signing is coming or who because of the lack of activity even kevs comment after the pools match wernt very reassuring, he just mentioned looking at players, and working "hard".... but not that we were in communication with any clubs and tbh alsong as he doesnt mention names...hes hardly giving anything away by saying were in negotiations anyway thats my pessimistic feeling...we will get 4 players...what quality is another thing and we will certainly see the ambition of the board come sept 1st
  25. i think some people are forgetting that this player will be hungry to suceed, someone who will put effort it its a great opertunity at a big club thats in the press often, so he obviously has ambition we need hungry work hard players who've got something to prove, who want to make a mark not some overpriced has-been or a high reputation player from the fringes of the top four decent signing
