Yup, such a superb player, we miss his qualities so much.
-
Its just another example of the pathetic, shambolic way the club is bieng run. This question would be rife in normal circumstances, but we're just 'used' to the non-communication.
-
Yes, he quit at a bad time. But its so sad the way he was completely messed about, and how Ashley has seemingly tarnished Keegan's reputation with some people seeing him as bieng a 'whatever'. Alex Ferguson & Arsene Wenger backed him up, he was beeing treated like a fool, it was humiliation. He was clearly told the Milner money would be invested in the team, and we'd no doubt be better for it. So he tells the fans the news about that. Then its quite simply not! How can he bang on & on about needing 2 full-backs and then the regime turn around and say 'na, here you go, no full-backs, the season has started; carry on in a forwardly motion'. He did not sign up for that! The set-up consisted of 'probably having to put up and be happy with a threadbare squad'. Why should he stay if he, rightly bloody so like any manager, cant feel comfortable working under pathetic conditions, he was left to hung out to dry man! He'd be bieng false, any manager would be humiliated and angry at the same treatment.

I think something should try & be arranged. In terms of the impact on players, I think that playing in front of less people would actually take some pressure off them.
-
Exactly, theyd understand the animosity towards ashley. Theres a difference between that & booing a player because he's not playing well/isnt a good player. Thats obviously going to have a negative effect. Any banners or chanting against the regime is different, and wouldnt.

Good post. However I doubt we'll be seeing any significant investment if at all on the playing side because Ashley simply isn't committed to the club. He's here to get his money back before leaving. By spending more of his money on players, he's only going to increase what he's owed back and thus the already difficult task of getting his money back. The reason why we haven't bought anyone is because the only money available to Kinnear is from any that comes in via player sales and that hasn't happened. He could salvage the club of course, but to do that would require commitment and doing away with the system he has in place, the people responsible for that, dispensing with Kinnear, replacing him with a good manager and backing that manager with cash. That just isn't going to happen. The club won't be turned around until he leaves and he ain't leaving until he gets his money back. Do you think he would consider a cut-price in the summer if most fans boycotted the games? (whether it'll happen is another thing obiously)

Wasn't Keegan his "advisor" ? No. Keegan needed his own advisors ffs!!! Plus I'm talking about someone who is not involved in the football, but rather in the running of the club. Think a football-clued up Chris Mort. The ED(F) & MD should cover this. Club statement at the time regarding Wise role, he is the man at boardroom level with the football nous. Chairman Chris Mort said: "This is all part of the vision that recently helped us to secure Kevin Keegan's return to the Club as manager. "Two of the conclusions of our strategic review, since acquiring the Club, were that the Club would benefit from having a football person involved at Board level, which it has not had historically, and that further senior resources are needed for recruiting players of the highest quality from this country and further afield. "Dennis would like to move away from day-to-day football management to a Board role and, with his considerable energy and intelligence, we believe he will do very well in this new position. Why not simply a scout? And why couldnt Keegan simply have his own scouts?
-
So the regime consists of the manager having to remind and educate the board every month about the footballing situation at the club? What would have happened if Kinnear hadnt called that 'emergency meeting'? And yes ask wise & llambias why you dont have any cover for LB & RB and a top quality centre midfielder, its what Keegan was asking the morning after deadline day after bieng assured selling Milner would mean more quality coming in!
-
Interesting that he blames KK - but they weren't his players either (perhaps bar Guthrie) The real protagonist here, Wise remains free from criticism. He should carry the can. Exactly, and Llambias it seems. Joe, your complaining about the same thing Keegan was complaining about! Why isnt there a bloody minutes, hours & days clock on SSN since the last time Wise/Llambias & co actually said anything?? There should be massive questioning about them in the media etc.
-
At a time when we have threads accusing the players of not giving a s***, it does seem ironic that one is getting slated for doing exactly that. Is it not more of a confidence thing with Enrique though? In the same way that booing the players isnt going to help, demostrating as openley and aggresiveley isnt going to help imo.
-
Full article: Do you not want to ask Dennis about what happened then?

The general support during home matches needs to be better and so much less hostile towards the players. More bloody encouragement for a good pass etc. But chants about Ashley etc would not effect the players, and would not be a 'serious lack of support'. Its getting on players backs straight away for some poor passes for example, booing them etc, thats what causes problems and makes the players afraid of a mistake. There needs to be more encouragement. But singing about Ashley is not going to effect the players in that way, there's nothing wrong/no bad effect of having both.
-
exactly; it's his job to motivate the players and choose the right strategy and tactics for them to win games. Exactly, surley any top manager would see it as a challenge to overcome & get the best out of them, and build them up.
-
The hostile atmosphere towards our own players against West Ham was terrible imo, like the booing of Geremi. Although any chanting about Ashley etc can be seperated from that.
-
What do you suggest fans do? And don't f***ing say support the team, they do that anyway, without fail. Unless there wasn't over 30K at home to Hull or thousands at Ewood Park. I'm not in favour of protests, not the kind witnessed at home to Hull last year anyway. Not because I disagree or anything like that, I just find them pointless unless there is some consistency. But something needs done, something needs to happen and fast. If we rely on the owner and his merry men to do something about the state of affairs then we really are f***ed. Boycott? A properly arranged one, like I say make him lower any asking price.
-
Exactly. 'Keegans lost it' etc etc.
-
Lower the asking price?
-
What a bloody mess. Explain that one then! How is the manager saying about one of his players currently negotiating a move to Besiktas and then the player later to say 'I dont know anything about leaving, I dont want to leave'. Is this suddenly an acceptable way to run the club & treat the players??
-
Its so cringeworthy. Redknapp is the worst pundit around, waffles on and on about the most obvious things, so false.
-
Like it matters. What do you possibly mean? Meh, i'm generalising tbh. Just feel a bit as if - whatever hope i had left - has just been thoroughly sapped with today's news about Kinnear. Aye i saw it coming but the reality of it hurts. I've always been for the academy policy so my opinion hasn't really changed on this - it's good that we've been doing it and a refreshing chance to the previous regime. We won't reap the rewards of any signing with this manager though. Yikes. I'm forming the thesis of an agenda here. Better go careful tbf. Fair enough, Kinnear hasnt inspired me at all, its yet another transistion season for us, its just good to see that there is actually good things happening at the club throuoguht the doom and gloom. When was the last time you saw the club make such an effort to look for the future of the club? Like i say, it's all just a total contradition. Whilst we're maintaining a focus on bringing young players in, we're appointing Joe f***ing Kinnear as permanent manager. As far as i'm concerned, with that clown, the future points to one direction - and that is ultimately down. Of course, by some point it'll get to breaking point and he'll have to sack him, but that doesn't represent any sort of consolation for me. If Ashley is serious, he would have chucked Kinnear, chucked Wise (no PL manager will work with that), and got someone decent in. I really, deeply wish that had happened - and signings like this one would get the credit they deserve. With things as they are though... pfft. As if it even matters. With respect to Kinnear, who's done some good while here, that really does sum up my feelings too.

You don't think perhaps he's been asked the same question as every other manager this week & answered it by pointing out we'll find out how good they are pretty soon? Still any excuse to be critical eh? Fair enough like, its about the context it was said it, whether he was just making an innocent comment or actually was moaning about bad luck. But like I said, the way he's gone on about the injuries, when most 1st teamers are available, you tend to think he was moaning, making excuses up already. ? Sorry, most of the players in the starting 11 against Hull were 1st team players.

Thats actually not made up?? Bloody hell man, like you say, what message does that send out to the team? It was the same with 'injuries, injuries' when the team that finally did play against Hull had 7, 8 players who would start if everyone was fit anyway. Crappy excuses, smokescreen, Souness, and Roeder really, all over again.

Sounds familiar dosent it?
